Good Jesus, Mark..I had the volume up full there and "BANISHED FROM EARTH'S-" bit blew me backwards like a sonic boom :P ....great video again though, huge (slightly deaf) fan :) Thanks!
Love the review. Xevious is by far my favourite arcade game of all time. I spent countless hours on it as a teenager in the arcades and I hate to think how much money I spent on it back then.
Xevious is a neat game. It's even one of the few games to get a 3D Classics version for 3DS, with a neat effect. Got it when Club Nintendo first started giving away downloads. RIP Club Nintendo.
This version is super-smooth in my opinion. You should check out Xevious Fardaut Saga for the MSX2 and/or PC Engine, which includes a port of the original game plus a brand new Xevious adventure!
Mark your channel hooked me into shmups the first one being gradius galaxies then raiden 2..now batsugun!!. Played it all night with save states to memorize the 2nd bosses patterns it was glorious. Iv almost got it down.. watching xevious now however feels like a slow motion shmup..my eyes are screwed:D
if you're getting into shoot em ups may I recommend detana twinbee? it's like xevious but it has power ups and is more modern so it will probably remedy xevious's slow shoot em up problem
sing nitpick yeah cute em ups is a sub genre to the shoot em up its a really good genre and twinbee is a nice series both visually and gameplay (excluding the original twinbee that game is a eyesaw)
I had/have this game for my 7800. It frustrated the crap out of me as a kid. I think I made it to the second stage maybe 3 times. The pinging sound on the spinning metal squares was *sweet*.
I remember playing this game when it was the secret unlockable in Star Fox Assault. Never did get far in Xevious, though. I suck at these older games, so I just lose interest quick.
I own a plug and play system. The arcade port of Xevious is on there. It's a pretty good game, but it's one of the most difficult shooters I've ever played.
Hey... just noticed Xevious has this similarity with Konami's TwinBee. Who plagiarized whom here? Edit: Seems Namco made this game first before Konami did. Hunh.
simular but both have some big differences xevious bomb attacks are different compared to twinbee (xevious the bombs are locked while twinbee's it's what ever ground enemie is closest) twin bee is stage based while xevious is infinite scrolling and twinbee has different bosses each stage (xevious resurrection fixes this) but I love both games really fun shoot em ups
They had the arcade version at a laundromat I used to go to on Saturdays when I was a kid. I used to think you were flying over a golf course.
Nice of Al Bundy to send you his copy of Xevious.
I remember loving this game on the Plug n Play things back when I was a kid.
Holy balls, I was literally clenching up at some of those dodges. You got some serious skills man
What I like in this game is that your primary fire doesn't kill everything in sight, the ground targets must be bombed.
I could never get that far in Xevious, but it's always been a fun game.

Always a thumbs up for that intro.
I love Xevious, great shmup. Shmups are by far my favorite genre of games. Great review
It's dangerous. It's devious. It's an awesome game!
I remember playing this as a kid on my 71-in-1 pirate cart.
Xevious should be required for every arcade because it just makes the perfect background noise. It is like the bass of the arcade world.
Best. Intro. On RUclips.

I have that same xevios cabinet, but it was converted to time soldiers some time in the late 80s. still has that bad ass side artwork though.
+Haakon Anderson time soldiers is a better game anyway so good trade up hahaha

Leon Plumb Ill definitely give it a shot! thanks! it looks so cool, Mjr calls them cutemups:D

I LOVE THESE SOUNDS OMGOSH! WHO KNEW IT WAS THERAPEUTIC TO ME.
this channel has one of the best intros on youtube
It just became clear to me. Mark is one of the few people that could sport a Mullet and still look intelligent.
It's devious, it's mischievous, it's XEVIOUS for the NES!
If they ever do a port of this for the Vectrex, i think it should be called, "Vectorious".
Hmm, maybe that's how the Starship Voyager kept replacing all those shuttles it kept losing.
Are those vector based backgrounds? Cool.

Where is the intergalactic space arcade located?
I remember playing this game when it was the secret unlockable in Star Fox Assault. Never did get far in Xevious, though. I suck at these older games, so I just lose interest quick.
Is there and end in XEVIOUS or will it loop?
I own a plug and play system. The arcade port of Xevious is on there. It's a pretty good game, but it's one of the most difficult shooters I've ever played.
And on the Atari 2600
Beloved favorite and I suck at it but whatever. Great game.
I like Dragon Spirit :D
93K is a solid score.

Twoclaw Xevious actually influenced lots of Japanese shooters like twin bee, star force, star soldier, and hector ‘87
did you dyed your hair?
Dude I Have This Game Original On The Famicom
The best part of this game is hitting the Sol Citadels.
Love the game, hate the music. I was glad to play the PC Engine version, and finding it had a mode with different (better) music.
I have the gold cart version of this, not sure how special that makes it.
Truxton or Musha???
Even on the Famicom, It's dangerous...
It's devious...
It's delicious...
No wait, fuck!
Ken Davis You had one job...
someone should get you a twin famicom
I work at a pizza place with an arcade machine with like 20 games. XEVIOUS and GALAGA are my favourites.
Awesome😈
So basically the review is the game is identical to the north american nes version but the cartridge looks cooler.
Rogahn Isle
did you know there's an 3D xevious game on the arcade? it's called solvalou the arcade game? (not xevious 3D/G)
If it's the same as on the NES, and you've already reviewed the NES game….then???
This one is not for me... I have a hard time getting into any shooter older than Star Force >w>
Like!
"Vectorpilot... watch for that review soon" Mark, is your time travel engine malfunctioning again?
It looks fine but the soundtrack sounds like absolute rubbish.

I vowed as a small child that when I had a son, I would name him Xevious.
Yeah, Xevious hasn't aged well, no offence.
You haven't aged too well.
