You gotta try Days Gone on the Pro. It's crazy awesome! It's like it was made for the Pro and can stand toe to toe with the Last of Us 2 and Horizon Forbidden West.
PSSR has a cost of around 2ms at 60 fps and is probably why at this early stage some games have issues especially where they haven’t taken into account CPU limitations when adding features above standard PS5. I expect PSSR like DLSS will keep improving over time. Digital Foundry said they now believe the PS4 game enhancement feature is machine learning based too and not just a simple filter like they first thought it was. It woks much better on 2D artwork than 3D though which is probably why Sony has it as a toggle.
There is no wayyou're going to convince me, that people notice framerates going from 70fps to 60 fps and bouncing around. It's going to look just as smooth as a locked 60fps
Yes, I agree. I think a consistent fps is more important than high fps. I played Outlaws, Avatar and Fallout 4 in their 40fps modes because “performance” modes on standard PS5 and XBSX didn’t maintain 60fps. But for this video I was keen to see *how much* improvement there is 👍
The biggest change for Pro is PSSR. It makes a significant boost in frames for PSSR titles. The other games without PSSR does run slightly better on Pro but the improvement isnt as drastic as PSSR
@@meejmuas8686 The improvement for non-PSSR games varies - kinda the reason for this video. e.g. Elden Ring does not even have a PS5 Pro patch but performs noticeably better. GoW FPS with PSSR on is lower than with it off... but the overall look is improved. Which just goes to show frame rate is only part of the story.
Its still impressive too that ER now runs 50+fps no matter what except quality+ray tracing, its below 50. Quality mode no RT is so close to 60 and performance mode is virtually 60 with very unnoticeable drops across hours of playing. And this is without a patch. I know some people don't care about resolution+fps combined but saying the Pro is overpriced considering the massive boosts to a lot of games is wild. Plus its 2TB of storage now, and XSX 2TB is $600 because of that value. Why is Sony getting bullshit for this while it has INSANE hardware upgrades for the rest of that $100 value???? Like its so insane to me.

I enjoyed the video, first time seing someone not locking fps and showing as it is, thank you. I know it has not got a pro enchantment yet, but please I am considering buying the console if that game runs well, pleasee❤
Hi, yes Avatar was on my short list of games to assess. If I do a follow-up video I'll definitely include it. The fact it does not have a PS5Pro patch is - if anything - more interesting to me, especially when looking at FPS. Cheers!
@@ramnexus THANK YOU SO MUCH, I'll wait for it, you could just do a gameplay video and no comment so it will be easier for you to edit and post. I will send the video to discord group that is full with avatar fans, they all wait to see how it will perform on ps5 pro❤
@@MIRAXOFFICIAL Quick update; I ran Avatar in all 3 visual modes on the Pro last night an they were all sitting comfortably at 30, 40 an 60fps respectively. I’ll include details in next vid, along with comparisons to the standard PS5. 👍
Best place to test Elden ring is Rannis rise. PS5 drops out of vrr window constantly in frame rate mode. Pro mostly OK, but can dip to 53-55. So quality mode is not OK. Since Formsoft games not only use dynamic resolution. But also use dynamic visual settings. So the framerate mode should give the same results as the quality mode when the scene is not too busy.
Thanks. Makes sense that ER varies visual settings dynamically. But I remember reading Elden Ring's Performance mode has dynamic resolution up to 1440p (which i incorrectly labelled "frame-rate" mode in the video - confused it with RE4!) and Quality mode is set at 4k. I can imagine there will be environments in the game where it will go below 48fps in quality mode - the location I measured it was quite "tame" i think. Cheers!
I get your point. I find it interesting that on the Pro all graphics options were removed in Star Wars Outlaws. There’s now just one mode. Apparently also for The Last of Us Part 1 and FFVII re-something. Cheers👍
Yes, good point. There were a couple of results that pushed fps >48fps and I was tempted to talk about how this benefits those with VRR displays. However, another "Cerny statistic" is that less than 10% of all PS5 users have VRR-capable displays so left it out. Good feedback for next time though. Cheers!
I’m guessing TAA is higher fps at the cost of reduced resolution and/or image quality. Would need to do a “digital foundry” zoom in to know for sure. Cheers!
You are really triggering my anxiety lol. At 12.26 You put up ‘ …but with an optional 10% performance boost avalible for games 😫. Just my OCD acting up.
Yes, a point I remember reading on a Sony site but forgot to record. The impression I have is developers need to patch their game to make use of it. Could be wrong. 👍
Lol 700 quid fornabout 10 fps smoother 🙄 it just aint worth it haha. Graphics are so good these days that even in performance mode i always think the graphpics still look more than acceptable
IIRC, the OG fidelity mode doesn't have an uncapped option as it would run beneath the VRR window, and that remains unchanged on the pro. So 30/40 FPS, depending on your TV
I can tell u let's say if u run GOW at same settings with ps5pro so on [perform mode] wich u can so not Pro enhancement u get 110-120fps and what I played watching fps on my LG it's a loat of time at 120 fps locket wich is around 50/60% faster than what Regular ps5 was around 80fps, as far as quolity mode it's locked at 30fps or 40 fps if u have VRR screen but the Pro enhancement is better than quolity mode 🎉
@@nelsaucemafe336 I think you may be thinking of a TV reporting what type of signal it is receiving, which often isn't useful. In the case of these LG TV's though, they'll report what sort of FPS you're getting when VRR is properly engaged, and you can trust that (so long as it fluctuates a bit, lol). I mean, even digital foundry has used that for quick coverage from time to time!
Thanks for the feedback. As I said up front the video is just about quantifying differences in fps with the new console. 4K footage and VRR discussions were not needed to achieve that. It was a fun video to make and achieved the intended goal 👍
Great vid.
Lovely to see you can play so many games at the highest settings in 60fps.

As long as you have VRR it shouldn’t have been much of an issue.

In Hogwarts legacy the Rt mode on base ps5 just ssr which is screen space reflection. On ps5 pro its proper hardware accelerated ray tracing.
Ok, thanks. That makes sense. I did read (and report) that they'd updated RT mode but missed the bit about it now being HW-based. Cheers!
