We had our own bog in Glenties and many’s a happy time I had helping my father in the bog
Reading an Irish story today, about rural life in Ireland. I wanted to see the turf cutting in a bog. Thanks for the nice video. I’m in St. Louis Missouri. USA
I have often worked in the bog footing turning and clamping,but i have never cut turf.
Special tool for digging the turf!
The man should have had his coat on in the torrential rain at the start.
I would love to spend a few days experiencing this. I think it is a genetic memory to identify with this. Specially the jig.
yes indeed, the sacred fuel from the earth. still cutting a few sods to keep the home fires burning.
