    Dude, Exhausted is my favourite Foo Fighters song ever. I related so strongly with how you feel when you listen to it. It's criminally underrated.

      There was one other dude that also made the same remark you did about this song.
      So nice to hear that other people think the same way. I've never heard anything that
      sounds so sad, angry and beautiful at the same time. The best ending track to an album
      anyone could ever make.

    i love echos silence patience and grace i really like the mixture of the tone the pretender is one of my favorite foos songs and songs like let it die and long road to ruin are amazing. I really like the build up in let it die. Summers end is just a lovely calm song that i love. This album is definitely in my top 3 and was the first album of the foos that i really got into. Then wasting light just blew me away. My favourite albums have to be wasting light, esp&g and colour and the shape

    Man, really, If you haven't watch the Sonic Highways documentary yet you just HAVE to do it. The record, as you said, it is kinda meh, but I love inmenselly the effort Dave puts in that projects. As well as it happens with Sound City, it feels like a really passionate tribute to the music in general and Rock in particular. Good interviews, amazing stories, superb musicians... YOU JUST HAVE TO WATCH IT.

    • @LieLikesMusic
      @LieLikesMusic  6 лет назад

      I sure will. Love to watch rock documentaries and i don't doubt that the concept and that doc in particular
      kicks ass. Are you a fan of QOTSA or Kyuss by any chance? In that case you should watch the documnetary about the
      music scene they come from. It's called Desert Age. Another great doc!!

    • @Psicosferico
      @Psicosferico 6 лет назад

      +Lie Likes Music Oh yesss I am, I have Blues For The Red Sun and Rated R, Deaf, Lullaby and Like Clockwork from QOTSA (which is my fav my far, btw), I love Stoner, it is one of my fav generes in Rock/Metal. Thanks for the info, man, I just LOVE too that kind of documentaries, it helps a lot if you want to understand the music and the people behind the music. You learn about the concept behind some songs, the state of the band at that moment, the inspirations behind their love for music and some really funny facts and stories, which remains me the kickass interview Dave had with Lars Ulrich, haha (I'm sure you watched it, he said a lot of the things you said in a couple of videos about the Foos). I recomend you to listen to some greek Stoner/psychodelic bands, they're having some kind of explotion there and it's amazing. I suggest Naxatras, they're amazing and damn talented.
      Thanks for the awesome content btw, I think there's a lack of this kind of stuff in YT, keep it on! ^^

    Hey man, great video! I like your take on the records. I'm surprised at how much I agree with you. I highly suggest watching Sonic Highways. It will definitely make you rethink the record. I chalk it up to a great experimental record, but, like you said, isn't one you can easily put on repeat. The show is just fascinating in general. Music documentaries are great, but it's even better when a band you love is involved.

      Josh Williams Thank you Josh! Hahah, i'm glad that we agree on so many things. Yes it certainly becomes more interesting when you already have a long history of being a fan of the band. The Foo Fighters have been my favourite band for a while now (well, second to the Eagles, but that's not what this is about). THEREFORE, I have a bit to say.
    I appreciate the very diverse discography they have managed to pull through. "There's Nothing Left to Lose" is perhaps the one I love the most, because it's really true to their hearts, but "In Your Honour" is a true masterpiece. Dense, diverse, real, and shows the extent of their musical range. I really like "Foo Fighters" (and how it came out a few days before I was born, important information), and Good Grief is one of my favourite of their songs.
    The thing is:::::::::::: I had a constant sense of improvement, change, growth maybe, every time they released an album, but I sort of felt that Wasting Light was a peak. I expected that stuff would become repetitive after that, and it really did. It's stil great music, with some great moments, but it doesn't get me much impressed anymore. "Sonic Highways" sounded extremely forced, I believe I gave up that album the moment he got that tattoo of the cover art. And, well, ever since I feel like Dave has been forcing himself to fit into the name that he naturally made for himself.
    I'm heading to your Concrete and Gold review soon, to conclude this. But, anyway, very good to hear from someone who is well-acquainted with their discography and who enjoys them as much as I do! :)

    LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Foo Fighters. They are my favorite band since the 70s (yeah i'm an old hippie). It is very rare to love every song on every cd. The Foo Fighters hit that mark with me. I loved the first cd. When I found out Dave Grohl recorded it alone??!! Holy Crap I was impressed. The One by One cd literally saved my life. I got very, very ill. Went to hospital and had Sepsis or Septicemia. An infection in the blood from kidney infection My back is kind of messed up so didn't realize. Anyhow, it went to my brain. I halucinated for 3 days so bad I was unaware of what my physical body was doing. I remembered every song on One by One, i used to be a singer. I saw videos I made up, a Foo concert, etc. I came out of it fine. Dr's kept coming in my room telling me how lucky I was. Found out I only had 30% chance of living. I have tried unsuccessfully, to get this story to them with no luck.

      @LieLikesMusic  6 лет назад

      Wow that's quite a story. I really wish you get to meet Dave or some of the other
      band members one day. Personally i intend to do it. Maybe i can help you do the
      same. Feel free to connect with me on facebook. There's a link to it on my channels info page.
      Thanks for sharing man. Would love to hear the more in-depth version of that story.

    Honestly really love ESP&G whenever I’m feeling down it’s one of my go to albums. Wasting light is by far the best FF’s record though that should definitely be the album to play to someone who hasn’t listened to them before, I swear it’s always in everyone’s top 3 as well👌🏻

  • @SHADOWKNUX1
    @SHADOWKNUX1 6 лет назад +1

    I felt the same way you did about Sonic Highways until I watched the documentary. The show is more like a "selected history of rock in America" rather than a "making of" sort of documentary, which makes it feel more like a soundtrack instead of a standalone record. Seeing the songs in the context of the influences they were drawing from along with all of the notable guests representing their city on each song really elevated the album to one of my favorites. Each episode dives deep into the music scene of its city and leads up to the creation of a song dedicated to it. It's really well done in my opinion, and the series alone has opened my ears to a whole new world of music I'd never have discovered if it wasn't for Dave's pure love of the craft. I'd call that another mark of greatness, wouldn't you?

    • @LieLikesMusic
      @LieLikesMusic  6 лет назад +1

      Off course. I haven't watched the documentary yet, but i bet it would offer
      me somewhat the same experience that you had. Maybe i would like the
      album even more. But i think the album would be a lot better in general if it
      was good in itself. The music should influence you to wanna know more.
      And it didn't do that for me.

    • @SHADOWKNUX1
      @SHADOWKNUX1 6 лет назад

      I totally understand, I hear that sentiment a lot. I just wanted to mention it since, with the particular case of Sonic Highways, it feels like the context of the series was an integral part of the album's creation - meaning that the series and the album are two halves of the same whole, in a sense, rather than two separate entities. I hope you get the chance to check it out some time, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it and/or Dave's other documentary project, Sound City. Loved the video though! Subbed and looking forward to the next one. :)

    Very well done!
    To clarify - and I agree that Sonic Highways was pretty much a dud - it was more of an afterthought, insofar as the HBO series was in place well before and the songs were the result of each episode, not the other way around.
    As a long time Foos fan, I gave Dave an A for effort on 'Highways', but unfortunately a C for execution... He was still riding the whole 'documentary' tip after the success of 2012's awesome film 'Sound City', but the latter project didn't translate anywhere near as well as the great album 'REEL to REAL' did from 'Sound City'.

      Im glad thats the case, and I love the Feeling that the Foo fighters gives me. you basically summed it all up in this documentary why the Foo Fighters are Great. They are a band that motivates me to create more music with my band they are one of my biggest influences and my bands biggest influences. Dave Grohl is the king of rock rn IMO.

    Dave Grohl as a person seems like a really good dude....hell I even like MOST of his other non nirvana non foo fighters output (namely QOTSA, PROBOT, Dain Bramage) but I just cant get behind FF. He's a guy who has paid his dues and includes A SHIT TON of amazing musicians in his projects but nothing he's done with FF has EVER made a huge impression on me. I like Dave Grohl for all the bands and art he has championed more than the art he's put out himself.

      Well i'm glad you respect him so much though. As you could tell i love Foo Fighter's music. Not all of it,
      but much of it. And at the end of the day, it's just a matter of taste. I wouldn't beat myself up if i didn't
      like it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts though! Cheers from Norway!

    Here is my opinion:
    9. Foo Fighters - Not a big fan on the rawness of this album. But Dave Grohl is still a genious (5/10)
    8. Concrete And Gold - Not good. Only a few good songs but very forgettable (5.5/10)
    7. In Your Honor - Rock side is good, but the acoustic side is worse (6/10)
    6. Sonic Highways - Good album, fantastic production but just not enough songs (6.5/10)
    5. Wasting Light - Middle of the road album. It's great but the other albums below I find are better (7/10)
    4. Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace - This is what 'In Your Honor' should've been like. Way better with a nice mix of acoustic + rock songs (8/10)
    3. There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Beautiful soft album but can sometimes get a bit boring after a while (9/10)
    2. The Colour And The Shape - Same as 'There is nothing left to lose' but more polished. The only let down of this album is the song 'See you' (9.5/10)
    1. One By One - Fantastic album. VERY unpopular opinion but despite it containing my 2 favourite foo fighters songs (All my life and Times Like These) the other tracks are still great :) (10/10)

    while i do love most of one by one i do belive it has the weakest song of them (not bad. just weaker than the other).
    and it is "tired of you", and yes the lyrics are pretty and brian may did the backing harmonics but it's both to long for what it is, boring guitar work (brian does not save this for me) & it just doesn't pack any punch.just my opinion (also "burn away" isn't to good). don't get me wrong i fucking love foo fighters with all my heart but i can look at them critically

    Something about Dave Grohl doesn't sit well with me. I love the Foo Fighters first record and there are certainly parts of the later records that impress me, but of late I've been turned off by his presence and some of the things he has said/done. It also seems like his musical tastes and trends have turned softer with his age - as a result the music the FF are putting out just feels over commercialised and toned down. It's hard to pin-point but I'm not a huge fan anymore.

    • @LieLikesMusic
      @LieLikesMusic  6 лет назад

      Nah me neither. I'm a fan in the sense that i LOVE their early records. But Sonic Highways and Concrete and Gold were
      two very underwhelming records. I do enjoy his personality though. He seems like a very charismatic and sensitive guy.
      Did you listen to Wasting Light? And if so what do you think of the album?

    • @GivesAMinute
      @GivesAMinute 6 лет назад

      Yeah that's the same with me. Wasting Light didn't do anything for me really at all. Mind you they still put on a great show!

    • @jamesbarrick3403
      @jamesbarrick3403 6 лет назад

      I know exactly what you are saying... HUGE FF fan over last 20+ years, but last couple albums are duds, and now that Dave has decided to pontificate on politics he has done himself a HUGE disservice. Stick to writing and recording and acting silly Dave... leave the big problems to those that have a clue.

    • @GivesAMinute
      @GivesAMinute 6 лет назад

      Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking too James. He should just stick to being a musician. I definitely find myself listening to less and less FF lately.

    • @jamesbarrick3403
      @jamesbarrick3403 6 лет назад

      I had a love for Dave as an icon prior to last weeks news... now just another great musician with no clue. Very disappointing. It's not totally his fault for being naive or ignorant. He was a kid the last time he had any need to relate to real world problems, and of course he has been surrounded by nothing but liberal elites since 1991. Not so sure that I would not think the same way. But he gets a healthy dose of rebuke for making the statements, nobody was holding a gun to his head
