I love how Dave Grohl, even with all he's done, was still being a big fan boy. Dave is a hell of a composer, but still remains a FAN of the music he loves. In my opinion, that's what separates a good artist from a great artist!
Monochrome Seasons I
+Monochrome Seasons, I also love the way Dave has a "just doesn't give a shit" kind of attitude (in a positive way), just look at how silly some of their music videos are, and the way he just wants to have fun and not be serious all the time, he's a guy that has worn ABBA shirts and attended Rock Clubs with them on for gods sake.
Interesting Fact:
When Dave was learning to be a front man, he would study other lead singer's to learn what to do, how to act, how to talk etc, he came across James Hetfield (Metallica), he noticed (or at least had the impression) that James was very professional on the Album, but on stage James was a "jackass", he notices that James would change certain vocals around for comedy effect e.g instead of James singing "Nomad, vagabond" he would sing "Nomad, Jager bomb".
Dave then noticed that in-between songs that James would joke around with the crowd, he would burb, talk about tits, talk about fucking, and "I just found that shit hilarious", and when I was forming the Foo Fighters that's who I wanted to be.
So we can thank James Hetfield, for partly creating Dave's on stage persona.
Me too...
Yeah it's pretty funny that he still goes to see a bands show and just stands in the crowd like a normal person
Matthew Hutchison every musician IS a normal person ;)
Concrete and Gold has FUCKED ME UP today. Rock N Roll isn't dead, baby.
Unlocked same hear had it cranked up to 10 superb album start to end
Between Concrete and Gold and the new QOTSA rock is definitely still alive and well!
marco S U.K. You fool I had my to 11
Unlocked Rock will never die.
Unlocked it is dead cuz there are no new rock bands out there making waves, its just the old bands putting out new music, there is no new generation to carry the torch
1:38 "I start learning how to walk again"
what a hidden joke :)
Learnin' to walk again...
Can't you see I've waited long enough...
Where do I begin...
Foo Fighters - Walk
I thought that was funny when he said it.
Zac Mcmahon r/woosh
Tbh I wanted Easy for you to say, your leg has never been broken.
I can just imagine Dave running round Hollywood and shouting at random people "sing on the record!"
Just runs up to a half - asleep homeless guy and startles him, HEY! HE- HEY YOU! HEY! YEAH! SING ON OUR RECORD!
Weird part is, I can totally imagine him doing that.
Like: *Pointing at random person* YOU SING ON THE RECORD, AND YOU SING IN THE RECORD, AND DONT THINK I FORGOT YOU
…and he forgot to ask McCartney!!!!
@@georgeprice4212 no, Paul McCartney played drums on Sunday Rain- he just forgot to mention it in the video.
OMG this is gold.
And concrete.
up you go, sir!
NO
Give this man a medal
lol
I could watch this over and over
I do.
this is absolutely fantastic
1:38 Soooooooo, you were LEARNING TO WALK AGAIN?
THIS!!!
Aquawu I believe he waited long enough.
Aquawu I was thinking maybe that's what he wrote the song about?
thatsthejoke.mp3
I got that is was so funny
The album is fantastic. I'm only 19, but I can already see myself blasting this in my car when I'm in my 30s and have kids, so they grow up and remember this as their childhood music! Don't ever stop experimenting and making good shit Dave!
ClaimingCowbellDRUMS yeah, right?
Fuck... im almost 30 and don't have kids. damn. this is expectations for all of us? haha
David Celis just an estimation, my parents had me in their late 20s so I'm only assuming I will around that time as well ;)
yes, same! haha
Its funny reading yr comment coz I was 19yrs old in 1992 which is when I was introduced to the "amazing dave grohl " as the amazing drummer in Nirvana &I'm still "blasting" his music now from the foofighters...&I'm 49yrs in the summer, keep on enjoying dave&the foo's,there a multi talented group of "geezers",also they seem like a group of guys that would be great fun 2 hang out with...💜🤟🇬🇧
I love you, Dave.
And Nate.
And Pat.
And Taylor.
And Chris.
And Rami.
That moment you realize Foo Fighters has turned into a supergroup.
pAt
RhythmGrizz Rami Malik???
aw thanks😂😂
This is incredible!!!! Love the animation!!!
reminds me of a RTAA. I loved this!
the kwast yes!! Rtaa
YESSSS! I was looking for this. I agree totally ❤
3:17 my favorite part
so fucking great animation
xdddd
Poor Paul
Elvis The Bored Paul McCartney played drums on the song Sunday Rain.
Please dont remind me about jake paul....
Ginko hogu are you joking he means Paul McCartney not jake Paul
Kurdt yup... That was a joke (bad joke) -_- :p
Elvis The Bored Im the 666th like
Wait a second... The Bird and the Bee ... I've listened to them and loved them a few years ago... oh my god I have the same kind of music taste as this guy... *cries* ... makes me happy.
I thought it was an epic challenge for the band to have a pop producer and a pop producer who never made a heavy rock record. And it fucking worked. I loved C&G. It blew my mind!!!!
Amazing way of telling the story. I never imagined there would be a connection between Bird and the Bee and Foo! I love both bands!
YES! This is why the Foo Fighters continue to be amazing, inventive, creative, and f@#$ing incredible.
The new album is awesome. Sooooo much good new foo tunage. For me theres a moment..you'll know it...that hits in the middle of Dirty Water where I was all-in. Grohl has so much passion, interest, and genuine love for music.
F@#$ yea new Foo Fighters!!!
How can you not love Dave Grohl?
It's absolutely impossible...you'd have to have no soul XD
I have a few friends who don't like his music, but they still seem to like Dave.
absofuckinglutly!!🙏🤙 I want to start/ be in a band that rises against this controlled Industry bull crap, Bring rock back to the top charts and put a spike in the music industry... All of these new "artists" are being controlled buy the labels ECT and don't have all the say on THERE music....If an artist Think something sounds great and could be a"hit" or something, if the Producer changes it... they could fuck up a whole flow. death to the music ""industry""" 🖕🖕
I know right he is such a fucking awesome dude
It's so easy
Paul McCartney plays drum on Sunday Rain with Taylor on vocals!
After listening to the whole album I have to say Sunday Rain is probably my favourite track. Genius
blueskiescalling it's my favourite too!
Dan Kap That song is probably my favorite. It's a tie with "Run", and "Make It Right", the drums on those three songs are hypnotizing!! This is a truly great rock 'n roll album.
blueskiescalling its really hard to pick a favorite on this masterpiece of an album but Sunday Rain is defo one of the best ones.
Paul in the window "hello darkness my old friend..." Kkkkkkkkkkkkv
Camila Bucci ummm that was Simon and garfunkel.
yeah!
Lmaoo
I don't know about you but since I heard Sky is a neighborhood I knew that I needed to buy this album
I want to work in the music industry so badly!! Thanks to you Dave, I realized that this is my future.
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
Dave grohl you are the genius bro
Lovely little docu. Needs more Paul, though! :P
A musician with a sense of humour, and who still gets star struck with people he is a fan of. Gotta love it.
When you think the Foos won't be able to surprise you again... This is fantastic!
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
Drinking game: every time Dave mentions the Beach Boys take a shot
Wasted.
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
Man Concrete and Gold is one of the best albums beginning to end that I've heard in a long time...and it all started in Dave's car. I love it.
So Justin Timberlake only got to sing the lalas as a background vocal 😂
Poushi !! That sucks for justin. Thought he did his part on the song, concrete and gold.
Poushi !! At least he sang on the record lmao 😂😂😂. To me, I thought it would be a weird collaboration. Then I listened to Make It Right and the riff that came with the lalalala blew my fuckin mind. His voice worked well with the song.
Poushi !! the way I heard the news I thought some kind of R&B rock mashup or something. I was hyped tbh
M ca It sounded like Zeppelin and Beach Boys on acid!!!
He's not even credited on the album liner notes
They did it again. It's really cool when you follow a band during so many years and they keep blowing your mind away. Nobody needs to tell them what to do. They are master musicians, and they will keep improving themselves to make music. That's what music it's all about, growing up with your friends and end up making the music you love.
I lold at justin timberlake creeping over the bathroom stall
Dave looking through a glory hole got me.
I watched this for the 6th time and realised for the first time it's a glory holeeeeeee
Now it all makes sense I knew there was something extra special about Concrete and Gold. It's just such a great album and just blows me away and makes me happy that stuff like this is still happening.
For those wondering, Paul played the drums on Sunday Rain. Once you know, you can't unhear it.
Thanks for that info. I knew Paul McCartney was another guest musician on the album.
I am a 60 year old mom of two, sons and a daughter in their late 20s. I have been a fan since the first cd. I am a singer, play a little piano so the thought of you doing ALL of that alone. So the Foos have been my favorite band since the 70s which I hope you realize is an enormous compliment. Your music literally saved my life when I was in the hospotal. Long story I tried for 15 years to get to you. Anyway I moved to Florida from Long Island last year and I FINALLY got tckets to see you in West Palm Beach. Im in the hospital at the moment, second time since last week. I just founf out it is acute renal failure. They better fricken fix me because NOTHING will keep me from seeing you. Lots of appreciation & love Adell, no not that one
the cartoon guy looks like the drumer from nirvana
Deadpool Of .Gallifrey no the drummer from scream
You're all wrong, he's definitely the epic drummer from Tenacious D. He was even Satan in their movie.
justafriendofyours He sorta looks like the drummer from The Moopets
justafriendofyours he kinda looks like the singer for Foo fighters 🤔🤔
Shitttt omg
In five years time, the entire world's annual output of music is going to consist of one album with 5000 tracks and every musician in the world playing/singing on it.
They'll get tons of Grammy's for this one. MINDBLOWING RECORD. They crushed it.
Ps: Now I'm gonna listen to Prophets of Rage debut album, it also came out today! And then Ringo Starr! WHAT. A. DAY.
Daniel Rivera I
Prophets of Rage is fucking lit.
Sad they couldn't get any :(
I literally shed a tear listening to T-Shirt. This album is amazing.
I love how Dave tells the story, he sounded like the kind of guy that you run into a bar and start talking, and he sounds to excited about the story. He manages to tell it so you are like really interested into knowing more details!
Loved the record (not my favorite album) but it is solid how they progress and manage to sound a little different each time.
It would be annoying to listen to the same album every 3-4 years
Went to my first Foo Fighters concert last night. It was the first time they've ever been in my area. They played Dirty Water from Concrete and Gold. It was different but still amazing. Still loved hearing all the old songs from so long ago. They must have played for almost 3 hours.
Now I absolutely have to check out "The Bird and the Bee". To hear someone as absurdly talented as Dave Grohl talk about how musically gifted another human being is, I feel like I have to know that band.
Am I the only one who hears Dave say "never mind" and instantly think of the greatest album ever
Just when I thought I can't love Dave and the foo's even more they do this
This is absolutely fantastic, there's no better video in the entire world. I love the Foos. since like 5 years Dave has inspired me to be a drummer, I hope to meet the foos someday.
Weird since they've been around for a long time but this was the first Foo fighters record I bought. Absolutely blew my mind when I first heard eapecially since I had other songs from them but this was definitely another level. It's cool to hear about the changes and freedom of creativity that were put into making this great record.
this has to be the most legendary thing ever
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
I was cracking up at 2:33 just imagining Dave going "WE GOTTA GET GREG IN ON THIS" and the whole band being like "Wat. Dave, do you need go to see the brain doctor again?"
The Foos are soooo BAAAACK! i loove Concrete and Gold! :D
Foo Fighters is one of the most legendary bands of all time!!! I wish their tour was coming to Texas.....
Dave's impression of his manager lmao 😂😂😂 he's such a comedian
This was the best thing I have ever seen in the history of the internet!
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
They did it again. What a solid record!
There's a reason why Dave is a music god, and this story beautifully illustrates it.
Dave's so awesome at telling stories! =)
you know its a rock genius....when he says he loves jazz
and u know he is a great record maker when he puts so much emphasis on the producer
I feel like people are taking this album for granted and not appreciating it for what it is. You have to understand that a band who just came out with their fucking 9th studio album can’t make the same record every damn time to please you people. They have to do something new and something they like. This album is a masterpiece. Stop acting like they just brought in some trash rapper to sing half the songs. Appreciate music that’s good. Of course wasting light and color and shape are fantastic but so is Concrete and Gold.
Dave is one of the coolest persons in the world. But deep down inside no matter of many concerts ,records, fans, awards or how much money he makes. He will really truly understand that he himself is one of the biggest names in entertainment. Because how strongly rooted/ down to earth. He can have a big head about himself. But doesn't know how.
WE NEED MORE FOO FIGHTERS VIDEOS LIKE THIS!@!!
*Foo Fighters Need to make a Documentary/then/Concert project for NETFLIX for next album*
This is like assembling a musical army . I really like how different people come from totally different backgrounds to produce one great record . Good job Dave !
this is such an incredible album. thanx foo fighters
This 6-minute piece of pure video gold drove me to the album. Thank you, Dave.
What an amazing idea to create such a sick record!!! Been a huge fan of your music for years!! Keep up the great work!!
When you hear dave talking like this about this producer guy you gotta check it, man so far 3 songs of this album and this video are just telling me that this is going to be one of the best creation of the band so far, so much emotion in dave's words, can't wait to have it
Jesus christ this is funny hahahaha
Marvo Monaro that's Him
I don't know about you guys, but in my opinion Concrete & Gold is FF's best and heaviest album to date. It's heavy in riffs, heavy in bass, heavy in drums, but at the same it's still wonderfully melodic and still badass rock'n'roll, and beautiful, and La Dee Da. Guys, you rock this planet, and all the FF fans on it. Peace and love. ✌️️🎸
I love the animated documentary!!!
I suggest everybody who read this to listen to The Bird and the Bee, even if it's out of your music taste. I have always been a fan of how they produced their songs. Their songs are tight but yet spacious at the same time: as if they try to insert every instruments and sounds they could in their every song, without making it sound too "crowded" if you know what I mean.
Every sound is perfect; nothing too loud, nothing too low. Nothing too much, but very rich in color and texture. It's just amazing and I can't even describe what I'm trying to explain. For me, The Bird and the Bee are one of the most well-produced musicians out there!
watching this after listening to the whole album made me laugh so hard XD
Greg Kurstin is a beast musician. His first band was Geggy Tah and they had that awesome hit song called Whoever You Are. Anyone remember that one?
The Motorhead devil demon guy wearing a bikini killed me. 😂
I've been a 'the bird and the bee' fan for a while now, it's awesome to know that Dave found interest in them!
i was listenin to aurora when i got the fuckin notification for this,
ima call it fuckin FATE! #420brasil
Brasil porra! kkkkkk
Tom Himself legalize
Honestly I am so happy to be going to see them next year in June I could cry 😭🙏🏻 #blessed
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
WAS GONNA COMMENT THAT WE NEED MORE VIDEOS OF THESE ANIMATIONS WITH GROHL TELLING STORIES BUT I SEE I ALREADY DID THAT A YEAR AGO
This animation made me fall in love with music and especially rock even more.
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
aguante Foo fighters!!!!
Awesomeness just flows out of you Dave! You are so inspiring! Thank you for just being you!
1:38 Dave is really "learning to walk again".
This made my day... It's so outgoing and amazing. Dave never lets me down.
more of this please
That was so good. Can't wait for the album to arrive on my doormat, yes I'm old school so going for a a CD, would rather Vinyl but can't afford it. Keep up the great work
haha, when cd is old school AND cheaper than vinyl.
This album is like the same with qotsa's. It has those generics songs like run/the way u used to do, but the thing as a whole is amazing.
Great work.
PanSangex What you mean by generic?
I thought the whole QOTSA album was so bad that i am debating if i am still a fan of Rated R, Lullibies, S/T, Songs for the Deaf....How could i be a fan if they are this lame...But other than Josh/Troy, they really are not the QOTSA that i grew up loving.
Thank you guys! Sometimes you are awesome and this is the time! Geep it going! Goooo FF!!!
Dave Grohl said "learn to walk again" and "nevermind" in the same conversation so I'm happy in a ridiculous kind of way.
i watched this entire video on the strength of the animation alone....great job, awesome visual accompaniment to this story.
He is a treasure and made my morning with this video notification! This animation was very cool. Run is awesome, but I think Sky is a Neighborhood was overproduced. I like the Live version so much better. This video explains why it sounds the way it does. I understand bands always have to reinvent themselves, but I am cool with the simplified versions. I am one month away from my first Foo concert and I cannot wait...
Hello, How are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
Seriously this album gets better and better every time you listen to. Stunning xxxx
LOL,great history.
man....i could listen to this dude's stories all day!!
More animations please😂
I loved how Dave just introduced us to an amazing song and band
And then one of the greatest hard rock albums I've ever heard came out...
YES ALISON MOSSHART IS ON THIS RECORD!!! I AM BUYING THIS ALBUM FOR SURE NOW
Butch vig still a legend and genius imo...
fighters 606 who said he wasn't?
2:34 WHY DOES THE CARTOON VERSION OF TAYLOR HAVE ME CRYING WITH LAUGHTER??
Sky is a neighbooorooood!!!
Saw them perform is on fresno, CA and I already got my tickets for San Jose!!!!
Very rick and morty esque. I love it.
Rellarellarellarella why Rick and Morty esque? Just wondering.
Gyro is that you?
PanSangex The bits where Dave is voicing other people (such as the manager) have the same improvisationy thing that a lot of Rick and Morty episodes have.
Shroom Soul oh, now I understand the people resembling it to bojack too, ty.
Especially Rick the way he talks in sober LMAO
If you like Greg, check out his first record with Dweezil and Moon Zappa, “Crunchy Water” and “My Mother is a Space Cadet”. I believe that record also features new Foo Josh Freese on drums.
Fucking Great!!!!
