Thanks Ian, really good vid for starters. And don't forget people if it is your first drone it is now 2021 and those regs Ian mentioned are in force now. So before you get the mini 2 out of the box, get your operator and flyer IDs sorted out on the Internet. Ian has done a vid previously to show how you do that - check it out, its fairly simple. If you get a tap on the shoulder, you may need these bits of paper - unlikely but should it happen, its not the greatest starter experience without them I guess.

Hi Ian, I'm buying mini 2 combo kit today. M2 will be my 4th drone. My last drone was a mavic air which crashed into the sea inlet Infront of my place. No insurance,My fault. 6 months later, after watching hours of U-tube about different drones. I was thinking of buying a Air 2S. I will buy a Mini 2 combo here in Palm Beach Queensland Australia . Cheaper and small. Thanks for your help. Stay safe and fly like a bird. Chris

Thanks Ian! Just got my Mini 2 (my first drone) and am most impressed with how well it flies. Agreed that the controls can be a bit confusing when the drone is facing you, I found that it was fairly easy to master once I remind myself that all inputs/responses are relative to the DRONES PERSPECTIVE - not mine. It's not to hard to imagine one's self actually riding in the drone :) ATB!
Brilliant video, Ian - this will certainly be recommended to anyone I know who plans to join the drone community. One minor tease. With the launch of the DJI FPV drone, Ocusync 3.0 debuted. Although largely untested, it boasts a 2 Km range increase and should be the best radio link available...
Excellent video, really helpful, thanks for sharing. Your channel was recommended by my good buddy Glyn Dewis. Great content, keep up the good work. Subscribed! Anthony from Cardiff 😎😎😎
Thank you... thank you !!! So much good info like the metal thing and dog thing... I am cinematographer so cameras I get but this stuff is soooooo helpful and I was relieved to find this fantastic video thank you a million for making my first drone set up a cake walk -
A great steer on the insurance, thanks Ian. I just took out a years subscription after seeing your link. Not entirely necessary for a hobbyist I know but at £19 it seems crazy not to. All the best
Hi Ian, just bought my first Dji drone and due to low income I went for the Mini 2 combo. Thank you so much for the tutorial videos, I have flew mini 2 once and it is fantastic! I had spent £200 on a GPS Drone a month ago from TV shopping and flew it a few times in Ireland whilst visiting 2nd home, it wasn’t great spec so got Mini 2 and sold other one lol!! I couldn’t stretch to Mini 3 pro but absolutely love the mini 2! I’m in bath and looking forward to getting some great aerial shots :)
Thank u, I’ve even just bought uv, cpl and nd filters to get best out of it. I absolutely love my drone and whereas I used to have a bad reputation for flying drones as the cheap ones (non GPS) used to fly off. I now am confident with the Mini 2 and cannot wait to take it to Spain next month and Ireland next trip as very scenic! I have a couple of videos on RUclips taken with the other drone but that one the slightest breeze and it couldn’t handle it lol! Thank u again, I look forward to your future videos :)
Thanks Ian Fella! I’ve got the Air 2 already what I really enjoy, but indeed now think of getting the Mini 2 due to it’s (legacy) freedoms! Good stuff and thanks for the video! Stay safe & Blue Skies to you!
Fantastic info. I have the mini 2 and also have the mavic 2 pro, but even though the mini 2 is under 250g i still go to the mavic 2 pro. Been waiting for the mavic 3 but looking at the specs its going to have a fixed aperture unlike the 2 pro with variable so if thats the case i will be sticking to the pro 2. Variable aperture is a must for me.
Got my first drone and this video perfect for me, thank you. Such a well presented and informative piece. Got my thumbs up and sub. Heading to the Shetland Isles, what a learning ground it's going to be. Very excited.
Nice one Ian! I've just started flying mine. I'm amazed at how simple and easy it is to fly - I come from extensive R/C model aircraft flying 25 years ago. Technology rocks! I'm off to Richmond Park flying field tomorrow morning.
Many thanks! Mini 2 just arrived. This was really helpful. Just charging up. Couldn’t wait for the rumour mill to produce the goods as were touring Scotland in 3 weeks, so this is practice time lol. Logged into app, but not activated yet until I have a charge. All batts and controller were on 1 or 2 bars. Thanks again! Liked and subbed. 👌
@@IaninLondon all charged an updated. Went to St Anne’s beach. The kite festival was today. Had little play but lots to learn through. Definitely need a sun canopy for the phone lol.
Brilliantly informative video 👏🏼. Just bought a DJI Mini 2 a couple of days ago. I’d been waiting for Amazon Prime day and got it with the Fly More Combo and Care Refresh for £449. Looking forward to learning about all of the features 😊👍🏼. Keep up the great work 😊
Great video Ian and thanks for posting but one very important aspect or feature you didn't mention is the ability to change the stick mode from mode 2 to mode 1. I learned to fly in Australia where most pilots fly in mode 1 (Throttle stick on the right). I know the ability to do it is available because I've seen people flying in mode 1 so you may want to include that in your next video.
You are literally the first person I've ever had mention about wanting to swap stick modes! :) I didn't realise Oz favoured mode 1; I'll defo mention that, but it's available on all DJI models (just never known anyone ever change them :) )
@@IaninLondon That's a fair enough call mate but you did entitle your video "Complete Setup Guide for Beginners" It isn't complete but some posted by others are.
From Phoenix, Arizona U.S. ..Thanks very much for the video, This is such a great little drone.. Hoping for hookup to Smart Controller.. That will make it the "Perfect Drone"..!!!
Great video Ian thanks! I'm seriously considering this. I'm in an airport warning zone so have to register each flight 3 hours early unless I drive 10 km down the road. Not a biggy as I'm automatically approved and have my A1/A3 cert. which was really easy to do so i recommend this.
@@IaninLondon Thanks Ian I'm a good bit away from the airport so I'm just in the warning zone (class D airspace) Belgium has made it fairly easy to get authorised. Great advice to keep the device away from dogs.
I got the Mini 2 and for the price it's awesome ! I have the DJI Phantom 2 V+ and the Mini 2 is so quiet unlike the V+ which was like an aerial chainsaw ! Agree with the rules perspective also you have much more flight options and it is such a neat little drone.
Thanks Ian i've just watched the video about registration and it was very helpful - took the test and 36/40 so flew through the test and checked my wrong answers - it's a doddle.Going to do some videos at the allotments tomorrow - early to avoid the crowds with a youtube channel guy to help with footage.Given the damage that can be caused by irresponsible flying i think this is a good idea as it raises safety questions in peoples minds - some people regard them as a toy.As an engineer i used to visit various industrial sites and would have to go through an induction and watch health and safety videos before being allowed on site - it's easy to be complacent ! Including drone flying.
Thanks for the 64 bit android mention . thats why I cant get the correct app or fly my first flight or do anything. Now to choose a new suitable phone . Cheers and thanks.
Great video as usual Ian, couple of things I noticed, when you were going through the remote you didn't mention the left hand function button, was that an old version of the app pre the new attitude indicator and of course on android you have to get the app directly from dji as it is no longer available on the Google play store. Keep up the good work
Thanks Martin. This is probbaly why despite uninstalling and reinstalling the app, I remained on 1.2.1. I'll mention that in the next video. Cheers. Also re the function button; this video trid to cram in the basics to get flying. I want to expand on the other functions in a later video soon.....
@@IaninLondon , I did wonder if the omission of the function button was on those lines, I got out with my mini 2 the other day , slowly getting more confident with it, so much so that i did my first hand catch........:-)
Have you made a video to show what would happen and how to manage the situation if I were to receive a phone call mid flight. Or how does one disable calls inflight
You can put your phone in Airplane Mode to easily stop calls. But actually, if you get a call, let go of the sticks, cancel the call, then carry on.... 👍🏻
Hi Ian, one thing I did not get is how can I know what direction the Mini 2 if facing by just looking at the compass (not the map) if lose sight of the drone. You seem to be having the old compass in your drone. I lost sight of mine and since I had been turning around, I could no longer tell which direction it was facing. Thanks for all.
I made sure I was updated, but I've heard a few people mention this. I think the half circle with arrow moved into the compass.... I'll have another go tomorrow..
Thanks for this Iain, im just getting started on mini 2, do you know what the problem is with Batteries / Charging, I’ve seen some videos about them expanding? Cheers. Mine is new 28/11/2021…. Thanks
There was an issue with leaving them in the hub and them not discharging properly. I did a video on this, but it's been fixed with a firmware upgrade now 👍🏻👍🏻
I must just say Ian, that this seems to be sited at your home? Dont know, but I thought London was all urban with a few parks, not ploughed fields!!!!!! Watched to video 2ce now but still no courage yet to HAND LAND. Excellect production.
Great vid on Mavic mini thank you Ian I enjoy . At present am on the CofC course for my Mavic Air , But thinking about purchase the MM 2 . This spring . Only thing am worried is the low weight . And how it cope in windy conditions.. the Mavic Air is first class in these conditions....
Hi Ian, How do I show that little compass in the bottom middle of your screen? I have watch several video from youtube that has that. My mini 2 and DJI Fly has the latest updates as this is less than a month old drone but I can’t that thing showing in the middle bottom of my apps screen.
Hello Sir...I have gotten my new DJIMini 2 and everything seems to work fine ...but I cant seem to put that little compass wheel in the middle of my phone like I see on every other video can you expaine to me how to get it there Please appreciate it
Ian I think your videos are great. May a ask how you record your phone screen please? Video editing it very new to me and I would like to learn your process. Keep up the good work mate, keep flying and stay safe.
Hi Ian, I've just received my DJI Mini 2 and I've watched your unboxing video. There is just one thing that I'm not sure of. For the charging hub to work as a power bank, do you need to insert one of the drones batteries of does the hub have its own internal battery? Regards Terence
Brilliant videos and a natural at it and very easy to understand and appreciated as this was my first Drone two weeks ago and after some nerves have got used to it now a bit more. I have one problem I keep getting that I haven't heard you mention, I'm taking probably 10 photos a flight and 2 videos which are OK ish but can easily get 10 videos on my phone with a blank square (file) of 0.00 seconds that I haven't taken. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Graham

Hand catching with the Mini 2 is fun. After 2 Band-Aids, finally got the hang of it.
Once is a mistake. Twice is careless....... 😉😉

@@thekiteflyer1 it's a long video as it is.... Well done on the hand catching 😉👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sweet
I work in London but live in rural Essex 🤠👍🏻

Great vid on Mavic mini thank you Ian I enjoy .
At present am on the CofC course for my Mavic Air , But thinking about purchase the MM 2 . This spring . Only thing am worried is the low weight . And how it cope in windy conditions.. the Mavic Air is first class in these conditions....
I've done a wind test for the Mini 2 and it's surprisingly good in strong wind.... Uploaded that video couple months ago
Good video, Ian. Sorry if it's been asked before, but are the Mavic Mini batteries compatible with the Mini 2?
Mini 2 can use Mini 1 batteries but you don't get the same power and the weight pushes it over 250gms. Personally I'd get the combo....
Hi Ian,
How do I show that little compass in the bottom middle of your screen? I have watch several video from youtube that has that. My mini 2 and DJI Fly has the latest updates as this is less than a month old drone but I can’t that thing showing in the middle bottom of my apps screen.
There is an option in the settings, or you can tap the little icon bottom left of screen and then expand it.
Hello Sir...I have gotten my new DJIMini 2 and everything seems to work fine ...but I cant seem to put that little compass wheel in the middle of my phone like I see on every other video can you expaine to me how to get it there Please appreciate it
Tap the map bottom left, then tap the tiny icon bottom right of the map...
@@IaninLondon will that move it to the center of screen?
can I turn the disply on, that is on the bottom of the screen? the one that tells you the direction the drone is pointing.
tap the icon lower left, then the little symbol on the right. It's annoyingly fiddly
Ian I think your videos are great.
May a ask how you record your phone screen please?
Video editing it very new to me and I would like to learn your process.
Keep up the good work mate, keep flying and stay safe.
Btw, I use iOS
On Android, I use 'EZ Screen Recorder' Thanks for the good words!
Ah, just saw the iOS... can't help :(
@@IaninLondon no worries mate, thanks for replying
Hi Ian, I've just received my DJI Mini 2 and I've watched your unboxing video. There is just one thing that I'm not sure of. For the charging hub to work as a power bank, do you need to insert one of the drones batteries of does the hub have its own internal battery? Regards Terence
Only the batteries can be power banks, not the hub...👍🏻
Brilliant videos and a natural at it and very easy to understand and appreciated as this was my first Drone two weeks ago and after some nerves have got used to it now a bit more. I have one problem I keep getting that I haven't heard you mention, I'm taking probably 10 photos a flight and 2 videos which are OK ish but can easily get 10 videos on my phone with a blank square (file) of 0.00 seconds that I haven't taken. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Graham
They're possibly streaming video thumbnails. Try removing the micro SD card and putting in a laptop or PC and check the proper full sized files...
