I like how the diary entries have intentional bad grammar, giving us the thought that the dude wrote them in such a rush, since he’s in constant panic mode.

Yeah, and the fact he seems to be an ex-marine or soldier of some sort. Seems like he’s just lost it after how much abuse he’s been through since returning
@@AshGorall Like the idea of Dude being a ex-marine. He saw the horror of war, never got better and the decision of throwing him out was the last thing that made him go on the war path. From his view he's just protecting himself, or "purifying" the earth
@@kobz2862 yeah, that and the whole “going postal” thing was a thing back where the only places that would take any ex mil members were postal offices, and a lot of shootings happened at these places between 1985-1995 or something like that by said ex mil members. A lot of people didn’t understand or hated former military for their part in the Vietnam war, and they made their lives living hell every day until they snapped and shot up the people they swore to protect who turned their backs on them. Hence, Postal.
Yeah, i feel bad for the Dude too, at first i was thinking he was ex-military, and so i noticed he was wearing combat boots in his Postal 1 and Redux design, Now alot of people, like 1 comment in a video playing a rampage soundtrack thought he fought in Vietnam, though in my opinion since the Dude was 27 by the events of Postal 1, his birth would be 1970 (where the war would tip against the USA's favor and towards North Vietnam's favor) And i believe that he possibly fought in the US Invasion Of Panama of 1989-1990 or the Gulf War of 1990-1991 or both (he'd be 18-21 in those events)
That and the cover for the manual.... I think that's what they where going for with this game, the dude in the cover looks scared, pained, maybe a little delusional. But you can tell he's supposed to be scared due to the art of it, great game all around. Love this style of games, sad we don't see it more instead of the cod type shit every year.
In his defense, he did have a man with a rocket launcher right outside his home, and its not like you have to fire the first shot. In Postal 1, you dont have the liberty to choose. The hostiles are just that. They dont stand down. They dont compromise. They created their own worst nightmare, and it starts to make sense why he nuked the place twice.
It's an interesting little detail that it's not called a war journal until the character assesses the situation and deems it war. Also gives an insight to the character's perception, I think.
You can hear him say “Oh no!!” While he was having a mental breakdown, not only do I think he meant that to the grave but he probably meant it about him killing a lot of people and thinking he’s a hero but he realizes he was a murderous psychopath.

And maybe all of those other child-like sounds you hear as the dude is breaking down, are the memories of him spending time with his son/daughter. Perhaps some tragic accident happened that caused his child to die. Another reason why I thought it was his child in the coffin was because the loading screen states that he’s been here before (Last time he was here, was to bury his dead child perhaps?). And when the dude approached this grave again, the horrific memories of him standing there with his wife and the priest, saying goodbye to his child came flooding back. This caused him to break down at the sight of the grave. This was probably a bad memory that the dude was trying to suppress in the back of his mind forever. The death of his child, his wife leaving him, him getting evicted from his house, and him most likely suffering from both ptsd and paranoia (based on his “war journal” entries, and considering how skilled he is with firearms, he probably did serve in a war too) is what probably caused the dude to snap and begin his rampage across the world (I say world since he did travel to Japan too). And I guess after the dude broke down, the police then surrounded him and took him to the insane asylum. ……..Buuuuuuut apparently none of this is the case at all.
