      You know, I've probably sold more of these units for them over the years because of this video then they have. LOL. Glad you enjoyed it!!

    Thank you! Excellent demonstration of the PowerBack! Followed your instructions and I am now able to use this device accordingly! The tip to use two (2) zip ties was an excellent idea! This is a great device when using with an Interlock Switch and answers the commonly asked question for those who want to know how can they tell when the Utility Power Comes back on!

      What part of Maine are you in? We have family in So Portland and spent a lot of time in Bar Harbor. So much so we borrowed part of your state's motto when building our neighborhood's website.😎 www.rockwoodbeach.com/

    so, actually, what is stopping you from wrapping the antenna around the wire just OUTSIDE of the panel, and finding a ground outside of the box?

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname  11 месяцев назад

      It's been a while but I thought it said something about using it on a single phase but it may work on both phases at once. Give it a try. I wanted it in my electric box and it was easier to get the "antenna" wrapped 4 times around the single-phase wire.
      Good luck and glad you watched the video. 😎

    It would be nice if that alarm could be changed to something like Welcome to the Jungle or something but I digress. Nice video by the way and nice installation.

      It should play that when the power goes off. Maybe "Heaven" by the Psychedelic Furs when it comes back on being everything in my house runs off electric including water and AC/heat.😎

      @@finscreenname how long does the alert stay on? to let you know the power came back on? It seems the interlock and backfeed breaker is the way to go instead of a dedicated manual transfer switch, thoughts?

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname  3 года назад +1

      @@randylee2549 If you don't turn the switch off the alert stays on for as long as there is power in the battery and it's loud.
      I like the interlock because I can pick anything in my panel to leave on (within my generators power handling cap) and my choices change depending on the time it happens. Like when it comes to the HVAC unit. During the summer we could hold off on using the AC and other months not using the HVAC at all but during the winter holding off on the heat may not be a option. A dedicated means you have to pre pick what you want and the HVAC would be on it even if we didn't need it at the time. In my panel I can skip over the HVAC breakers or make them the most priority breakers in the box depending what is needed at the time.

      @@finscreenname nice, do you think the firman 11000 watt surge tri-fuel can run on natural gas to power a two and a half ton Central AC? 899 @ Costco is reasonable

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname  3 года назад +1

      @@randylee2549 I'm not an electrician first..... But I don't know why not. I use a 10,000 Watt gen and it will pretty much run the whole house as long as you are not trying to drive everything in the house at once. It all depends on what my wattmeter says I can run ruclips.net/video/BjVCHbg-s5I/видео.html but so far I have not been lacking for power. The only thing I will add is in the electric world they consider generators as being "dirty power" so I wouldn't run my best electronic stuff on it.

    Helpful. House is wired for manual transfer. Looking at generator options, and was contemplating how I would know when power was back. (We don’t have streetlights, and no visible neighbors). Thought I would be engineering something. This is a much simpler option that should do the trick. Thanks.

    Dont store it with a battery in it. It will seldom, if ever be used. Just put a battery in it when you actually use the device, when you are hooking your generator up...

    Hi, will this detect if I wrap around my electricity post of my house. Not just the one cable that you have explained in your video??

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname  3 года назад +1

      "electricity post" ?? It should detect if there is electric in any line as long as the antenna is wrapped around it but.... I'm sure they would say it's not made for that. Sorry

    • @electricalron
      @electricalron 3 года назад +1

      This is similar to how a tic tracer works. A tic tracer is one of those $20.00-$30.00 electrical testers that look like a fat pen. It works by detecting a magnetic field and sounds an audible. Be sure to keep the 9 volt battery 'good' or it won't work when you need it most during a power outage.

      @finscreenname  3 года назад +1

      @@electricalron There is a led light on the front that will tell you when the battery is getting low. 😊

    Hi, thanks for the awesome video .. I had one quick question - I noticed you installed this in the panel inside your house - looks like a subpanel .. and not on the main panel outside. Is that correct? If so, I assume that even with the main outside panel off (when running the generator) - when power comes back on, the inside sub panel will know that grid power is back? Let me know if I am wrong on all that 👍 - thanks.

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname  3 года назад +2

      That is the main breaker panel in our house. The only thing that comes before it is the power company's meter. My back feed system powers our whole panel and we choose what we want to run off the panel. So the line I put the detector on is the power line coming in the house. My back feed generator feeds the panel through the first breaker in the panel. That's why we have to turn our Main breaker off when running our generator or it would back feed the power lines but with the Main off we never knew when the power came back on until this gadget. Thanks for watching!!!
