Starwars Republic Commando - Ghost Ship Clones Mod [Updated & Extended]

- An extended and updated playthrough of my original mod concept for enhanced clone trooper implementation on this level. Revisions have been made to the clones' AI to improve battle performance & cinematic value in firefights.
Updates since last Version Upload:
- Slightly increased accuracy and damage output for the clones' blasters.
- Slightly increased health pool for clones.
- Thermal detonators added to clone troopers' inventory.
- Added voice lines for clone troopers for various stimuli. (Enemy Spotted, Ally Down, Retreating, Death, Incoming Grenade) (*limited implementation)
- Increased clone action parameters. (Dodging, grenade returning, peeking)
- Decreased clone self-preservation to increase firefight efficacy.
- Clones in squad can now perform basic squad tasks. (*limited implementation)
- Clone blaster bolts now feature a heavier and brighter glow.

This is so cool. I've always thought it would cool if you could save some of the clones and have them join up. This is epic.

@@kanelo_mk48885 actually in the ghost ship in the turret room before the trandoshan slices the console you can save 3 by sniping,it before it can slice it later on you can save 2 more by throwing a flashbang the chances of saving the two clones in the other area is extremely low so you can only save 1
Finally the simple clone troopers are kicking ass.
Finally, someone else who wanted to save the clones. now we can finally be the hero we should be. i always wanted to actually save them
This happened to me only ONCE, but do you remember the two clones that are falling back while shooting and die in front of you by an exploding mine?, well somehow one of them survived the explosion and helped me fight throuought the next section of the map when you try to access a computer and get ambushed by trandos and scavenger droids. It was nice having a random clone helping me out, specially because this happened to me while playing the Arc-Trooper mod, and in that section specifically, there's a ton of trandos armed with shotguns that instakill you in that mod xDD
@@MrSasukeSusanoo Wait what is the Arc-trooper mod exactly, is it like a higher difficulty than the main games hard mode? I have been wanting a much harder difficulty as the game was getting easy for me
@@Dwaggy Sure I'll explain, Arc-Trooper mod is a patch that changes your GameData folder. Your team looks like arc-troopers instead of commandos, campaign is the same save for an extra prologue training chpater in Kamino, geonosis intro map where you meet Scorch is different, and you have an extra campaign chapter in Jabiim, it's between Ghost Ship and Kashyyk (you won't see it on the campaign map list but if you finish Ghost Ship you'll be sent to Jabiim). Now I'll mention the new advantages and disadvantages for the player at normal difficulty.
Advantages: All weapons have new designs, do more damage and have more ammo. Max grenade capacity is also better, for example you can stack up to 50 thermal detonators, way more than in vanilla game. You get a new permanent special weapon, a minigun that looks like DC-17 in the latest patch fix. For some reason pistol is bugged in the latest fix, but with your powered up arsenal, who cares you won't need the pistol anyways xDD.
Shocking Vibroblade: Your melee attack does now INFINITE shock effect damage, this means that if you successfully land an attack, the enemy will be shocked permanently, rendering it useless until they die out of non-stop shock damage. Be advised, this doesn't work in giant enemies like spider droid, or if you stun your enemies with a flashbang grenade, for some reason you won't trigger the shock effect with melee while they're under blindness. It also doesn't work on droideka's shields.
Grenades: Thermal Detonator now sticks to the place it lands, and does an extra shock effect damage (normal duration).
Electroshock grenade is your go for this mod, same infinite effect as the melee attack, you will destroy the mobs with this.
The rest of grenades are as in the vanilla version.
Bomb planting/Hacking devices: you and your team do this tasks twice as fast, if you see it'll take 30 seconds, it'll actually take 15.
Friendly AI: it has some improvements I guess.
Disadvantages: All enemies do more damage to you and your team, meaning you'll need to play it safe in some sections if you don't want to get destroyed. Super Battle Droids, Droidekas, Geonosian Elites, Turrets, Trandoshans with shotguns, Trandoshans with concussion rifle, Heavy Trandoshans, Scavenger Droids, Spider Droids, can easily instakill you if you're careless and in the open, be specially careful with Heavy Trandoshans, if you stay in the open, your life is forfeit, literally xD. Oh melee attacks are also devastating now, they could be instakill or take you down in two hits. And remember all of this is in normal difficulty, if you played it in the hardest, I think even the normal mobs would destroy you, you really need to manage and position your team and yourself very well, be strategic and use the advantage of having more grenades to give you an edge. Now for technical disadvantages, just two things I guess, in the section "Attack of the clones" in Ghost Ship mission Fixer is bugged, the only way he's going to move is if you order him with maneuvers, don't worry he can still fight back, the section is totally clearable even with that, at least for me, and it only affects him there, once you enter the prison block section which is the next, he'll go back to normal. And sadly, you can't save game in Jabiim extra chapter, if you do, you just ruined your save game, beacuse the game crashes if you attempt to load a save in Jabiim, so consider the Jabiim map as ONE LIFE ONLY, or, if it's annoying and you already completed the campaign, skip Jabiim and enter directly to kashyyk in the campaign map after you finished ghost ship.
To sum it up, you get powered up arsenal at the cost of having terrifying enemies, and all of this remember, is just on normal difficulty, I haven't tried the hardest yet, so good luck with that xD

I'm just finding this now but I have to say, thank you. When I played this game years and years ago, it always bothered me how the common clones were treated as expendable and basically disappeared past the first few levels despite supposedly making up this massive army in bulk. I love this reinterpretation which shows that even the average grunt has enough training to follow alongside a commando and serve as a squad-mate in a pinch. Even disabling traps and helping to breach doors. Seeing you send them to heal/hack made me especially happy since in the base game, when they get hit and sent into that injured state that was it, they're one good shot away from death and otherwise just a weaker form of common battle droid. If this mod covers the entire campaign or ever comes to, I will personally buy/track down another copy and play it to the end with this mod because I love seeing those regular troopers have their moment to shine alongside Delta squad without overshadowing the obvious advantages of the commando units
I played this thing a long long time ago too and I gotta say, your thoughts were mine exactly.
Never thought I'd come back to this game or let alone mod it, but doing so allowed me to do justice on what I felt should have been in the original game.

This is the coolest mod ever! This gave me chills it's so awesome. The Ghost Ship has always been my favorite part of Republic Commando, especially the detention center and the area immediately after with all the dead clones. I go back and replay the Ghost Ship levels often.

Pretty cool mod, looks great! Only critique is that the recruitment of the regs should probably be after Sev is captured. A throng of troopers watching your back lessens the impact and the spook when the Trandoshans burst through the vent. Other than that, pretty perfect job.
I know the scripting would probably be heck, but it'd be even cooler if it was tied to if you managed to save the troopers in the turret hallway or not. That way if you're good enough you're rewarded with the help, but if you're too slow you're on your own.

Just gotta say, they shouldn't be able to use bacta emitters for continuity. I believe it was actually this level where it was said that regular clones dont have the implants required to process bacta from the emitters.
Sharp eye delta, I'm actually quite keen on changing their bacta animations to something else atleast so as to keep things different between the commandos and the troopers
@@shitmodz_axz9184 ACTSHUALLY 🤓 they do indeed mention in this level that regular clones lack bacta implants, you also can see a Clone Trooper using a bacta station in the first level. (I believe is right before that barricade is broken underground). So while maybe this is an unintended oversight, maybe the bacta implants mentioned in this level could mean that the purpose of the bacta implants are limited to reviving fallen comrades. Not trying to be a smart ass lol but I thought it was notable. Also..... do you have any plans to release this mod and/or expand upon it into other levels? I would absolutely love to play through the game again with something like this.

Honestly, this very much reminds me of the first mission from Halo Combat Evolved, and it's very cool and promising so far to see this.
I like this mod concept. Are the clones able to be revived if they run out of health or are they permanently dead once they run out of health?
They don't die, atleast the ones in your squad don't. You can pretty much revive them all you want so they can kick more ass

I think it might be worth it to make the clones who join your squad unique in their identity. Just a little bit of paint or something else to mark them apart from each other, like a coloure chest or shoulder decal, and the non-squad members could go a long way in making it more player friendly.

Yep, though I'm quite rusted if I recall you'd need to look into 'projectile class' by unchecking the 'placeable actors only'

In the original version of the game, yes! You can save them exactly as shown and it's really cool,

It's so cool, did my best to try and save the clone bois, I do remember saving one of them somehow but couldn't remember, also on geonosis advance to the core ship I somehow save one of the clones near the crashed gun ship, I do not know how but maybe you can give it a try :)

The part where you threw flash bangs to save the clones from the mines what dialogue is after that if you were to do that in vanilla game? I'm asking because I never tried that before.
They say nothing, they're supposed to die in that scripted event but that glitch allows you to save at least one of them.
I hate how clone troopers are the weakest AI as they can get killed easily other than scavenger droids. It took more than 10 shots to kill Trandoshan slaver while the clone takes three shots despite them wearing armor. Plus, clone troopers were easily killed by scavenger droids through laser beam and kamikaze attack.
