The Secretary of State Vince Hadden brings in Gabe, Lian, and Mujari to testify in Congress about their relationship to the Agency. He considers all three to be guilty, and questions them after they assassinate Shi-Hao from a hotel in Japan. The three do not realise that Hadden is involved in the conspiracy, and is looking for scapegoats.
The game was originally slated for release on 25 September 2001. However, the fallout of the September 11 attacks, forced Sony to indefinitely postpone the release while modifying the marketing campaign. The game was eventually released on 6 November. The game's original cover had Gabe and Lian in action inside a courtroom that had a US flag in the background amidst a swirl of gas. The anthrax scare following the attacks resulted in the cover being changed to a simple one showing Gabe and Lian's faces, while the header line "United States Federal Bureau of Investigation" on the back cover was changed to "Agency Mission Briefing. -

These games were pretty ambitious for the hardware they were on.
Such a shame no Hollywood Producer found any ambition in the game

@@h3nnkka90 why should they? They weren’t around then lol. I was a kid when this came out . Playing it was fun… but I knew the graphics were good but could be better I’m glad that games software and technology came a very long way. The games are way more fun to play now
Eh, it did what others games did but not as good.
If you followed these since release, there was always better in the same or similar genre available.
Games were pretty fun though, 1 gas not aged well at all, playing now on the new os subscription.

Syphon Filter is up there with Metal Gear Solid just in the uniqueness of gameplay mechanics.

No. The series are over and they should leave it alone. What made Syphon Filter games good was the old school environment and graphics which enabled it's unique gameplay. A remake would be just another generic cover based shooter or over the shoulder. HD and realistic graphics do not make a game.

Weird fact, this is a single disc game but came in one of playstation's multi-disc jewel cases. Not even a demo disc or extra features CD, just the solo game disc
Doom and crash bandicoot did that too.

@@Inz0mbiac Well 2 had 2 Discs ofc and 3 had the Minigame Disc but they were cramped up in one of these normal cases not one of these that like FF8 had.Still got them somewhere around :D
Probably because the Syphon Filter 3 manual was too thick to fit the slots of a standard jewel case.

I was 10 years old when my mother and brother brought home a PS1 surprisingly at home. I was in ecstasy. I played most of the PS1 games for a year and then got shifted to a boarding school. I remember playing this game. It made me nostalgic. Through the years I also played PC, PS3 games but never matched the feeling of my childhood PS1 gaming days. I miss those days..
Hell yea, the first three are some of the greatest action games of all time. Theyre still up there as some of my all time favorits games. Franchise was ruined when it hit ps2. Redeemed itself with the psp but no one cares about psp releases. Make a good console game again sf!!
When I was a kid, the Hotel 413 is the hardest mission for me. I couldn't even pass that mission lol.

such a nostalgia game, i always played this every saturday and sunday when i had no school back in grade school.
2 is the best, but what I like a lot about this is the constant switch of characters and locations, super ambicious franchise

AU3000 is my fave weapon, I playing around with it during Lian Xing mission. probably the only game that provide wall-hack weapon in legit way.

It's good that they made it for PS1, ps1 deserve to live even more than it actually lived..... I wish ps1 games are still made, but at least we can make PS1 graphics games today with Unity 3D as indie developers. PS1 FOREVER, my second favourite system after Amiga
Ps1 had a far larger install base so putting it on ps2 wouldn't make sense also it probably would have ended up like the ps2 syphon filter games so no thank you

I played the first two games on release and loved them. Tasering was everything. 20 years later, I'm playing SF3 for the first time and saying, "God that really never gets old."
Played all 3 games growing up the best ps1 game franchise of all time Syphon Filter was ahead of it's time and i must say you're very good at this too

Sf 2 is brutal
SF2 has the most stealth missions which made it tough, lots of trial and error, especially in the new York biolab.
I thought SF3 was the hardest but only cuz I played it once
