back in the day, one race heat, one run with an ali prop, then throw it away. As stress fractures could be seen along the hub. I was pleased when the copper /ber props came to the UK as they work harden without any metal fatigue.
I've always run Beryllium copper props, recently started running cnc aluminum props. I like the Beryllium props there more forgiving than aluminum, if you hit something with a Beryllium prop you can cut them down to a smaller diameter , aluminum not so much.
You hit something, and then it folded the prop, and more carnage ensued then. Maybe some possible damage nicks and/or massive stress on the strut blade by the Oxdean explosion? Crazy, none the less. Thanks King B. Had better luck with the foldable props, versus the ones that can explode. I folded a hand tuned 4 blade into the shape of a thimble. A little tooo much sanding. It folded like tissue paper at about the 2nd blip on the FULL TRIGGER!.
Funny you mentioned perhaps a V2 cse I'm definitely in the market for this thing waited far to long to try to get one & now it's no where to be found unless slightly on the used market, so I'm hoping they do come out with a new one like this one & has blue on it, love this color combination
Yea, a v2 ul-19 would be epic, I would imagine they're gonna replace it with an updated hydroplane. Although it's gonna be hard to beat the original color scheme, I love the blue and yellow..
Hi big b .I have the ul 19 also and I just love it I hope also that they come out with a new version .maybe you could encourage them to do so.take care.jim s.😂
Ouch ! I here you there on the $ I'm just starting only went for the 1 run an smoked the esc i was telling you about an I'm already about $700 in an i know i still need a new controller an battery's an a few other things I'll be in this boat for $1200 in maybe 30 more days. Think goodness u sent me on the right path for the right esc or it would be more money. Hopefully my parts will be Tuesday an maybe i can get the boat wet again a few days after. But I'm already dreaming about the 2 boat not sure what it will maybe ill build a hull from scratch but i am thinking on using the TFL 2 to 1 Transfer Case when i do it !
I've been wanting to build a boat using the tfl 2 to1 transfer case for a while now. Still looking for the perfect hull to use it on. Good luck with your build.
@@IRONCLADRC Oh yeah, half the fun is fixing and improving it! Always an opportunity to make it better. You got lucky on that one, I've seen the whole stuffing tube start to rotate and rip the boat to shreds! Not my boat, some other guys. I love that UL-19 and it may be my next boat project! Did you do a Speedmaster hardware upgrade on this?
That's my first broken strut bar lol. Crazy to see. I wish my camera mount was positioned better so you guys could see the whole run.... grrrr. She was going ballistic with that prop couldn't get past 3/4 throttle
get your hands on some onyx rc power system packs bud, theyre a whole other world than smc. all current world records in the car scene are held with onyx batteries. :) the voltage under load is a good bit higher. :) try the 4S LHB 6600 mah. crazy batteries.
Big B the Destroyer, I like it ! If it is turtles thats 2 more you don’t have to worry about 🤣 But I have a theory, is it possible that the water level is down just enough to expose your prop to something like a tree branch concrete with rebar bicycle frame ? No telling what’s in that park pond being govmnt property. Could be artificial fish habitat. Sorry for you loss, but I like Bueller’s comment about asking for upgrades 🤣 that proboat hydro wants something serious bolted to its ass !!! I have a couple of props I’ve never been able to utilize properly, how can I send them to you ? I believe you will know what to do with them.
I've been in that pond several times recovering sinking boats. It's basically chest high, there's not a lot of foreign objects in there like you'd think. There is a lost rc boat in there along with a 4s lipo battery, 90a flycolor, and receiver. Lol. Shoot me an email for shipping ironcladedout@gmail.com. thanks for the support
🤣 I’ve striped down to my pants twice over the years to retrieve sinking boats. I’d like to send you two props, both are octura one is 3/16 bore, 3 blade, 2.1pitch 37mm dia. With a medium rake. And the other is 1/8 bore, 2 blade 1.7 pitch 35mm dia with no rake and no tung (clever type maybe?) (unsharpened unbalanced). If you think you can use them let me know how best to contact you.
Over propped, over powered, over volted, Rode hard and put away wet. Time to get ironclad out. Got speed master sport 21 flat bottom strut, & Dual pick up rudder otw
You have great fun running them hard. We have great entertainment watching. When your new cat arrives, we know its gonna be more like a bolistic missile on steroids. Great videos mr B.
My guess as to what caused that failure: You're putting a lot of power through that system. Do you recall how big power bent a single stinger? I'll wager the break on the strut shows a coarse, grainy surface structure indicating metal fatigue. That strut had been "working" back and forth under Big B loads for a long time. I think you need a stronger strut. That ProBoat strut wasn't made for the power levels you are running.
Here's the link for the new build. I'm not sure if the link will work ended ebay listing. I've been looking at this hull for a while, I bought it because of the bottom its got some good lines to it, only down side is the overall weight. But I can fix that with a grinder. www.ebay.com/itm/285132529756?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Wtx59djvSuy&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=yQkZS9FcQay&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@@IRONCLADRC I saw that 23" hydro and gave it some thought, but then said no. I have too many unfinished projects at this very moment, I don't need more......... Until later.... Besides, it's not a whole lot lot different in size than the American Spirit.
@Dr. Jet The round nose doesn't have a hatch. If it did, I may have gotten it instead of the catamaran, which building a hatch isn't that hard. Actually, give it a custom appearance. The catamaran has an overhang on the transom. I've got my fingers crossed that the 80mm low profile stingers fit. If they don't I might have to get creative on the outdrives.
@@IRONCLADRC If you search the 'bay for "#785 55mm Adjustable Alloy Strut 4mm Shaft Flex Cable Nitro Electric RC Boat", you will find the struts I'll be running on the Micro Drifter.
That's my conclusion too, I've got a sport 21 speed master strut, & Dual pick rudder blade on the way. I've been wanting to upgrade the strut, I was gonna drill the original strut out to fit the stuffing tube and speed master bushing, glad I didn't go through the trouble...
@@IRONCLADRC Is that the same guy that made your little 13" (?) hydro and that larger Atlas that disappeared a while back? The ride surface looks "different". Spray rails on a cat? Am I looking at that right? Maybe it's the way the outer portion of the steps are curved forward. It's hard to tell in the photos.
@@IRONCLADRC I looked closer at the photographs and the weirdness I saw was in my head. The lighting and curve of the sponson ends made me think it had spray rails on that section. It looks like it has potential.
I think so too, probably best set up with twin power definitely not a single motor boat. Oh man I can't wait to get started on it, gonna be a week or so before I receive it.

Not wrong, every time we run our boats something breaks or sinks. Thats part of the fun upgrading and repairs.
