I worked on a cruise ship as a youth staff…around dusk saw two teenagers doing handstands off the railing of the top track level and ran over to them to stop them. One guy told me “what? it’s just water if I fall.” I told him you could break bones this far up and 2nd this ship can’t just stop to find you and what if it circles the wrong way and you get crushed or sucked under?? They look stunned. Anyway, I marched these kids to my manager. He called their parents and his dad cried when he found out and confronted his kid. I feel happy to know I possibly stopped a tragedy from happening that night.
The stupidity of teenagers never ceases to amaze. I still feel for that kid recently that jumped off that cruise ship and was possibly attacked by sharks 😔

You can't just inadvertently fall off a cruise ship. People are either drunk, want to end their lives, get pushed off, or horse playing and fall off. Either way, you'll probably die because those ships are so large that they can't stop. Take it seriously, people. Cruise responsibly.
Cruise Ships of that size usually have a large bow thruster beneath them to enable maneuvering of the ship, if anyone jumps they could easily get sucked and crushed instantly. I cant think of anything more terrifying.
One of the scariest situations ever for that individual. Don't go near the edge with a person who secretly hates you, vacations tend to bring out the worst in people belive it or not
People wonder why the wrath of God is coming? Those who don't turn from their sins to Jesus Christ to get on the ship of salvation are going to find themselves sinking in their sin on a straight-up tunnel to hell
All passengers should not jump off the ship lol it’s literally impossible to fall the rails are like 5 feet tall you’d literally need to jump off to fall

Nothing would convince me to go on one of those cruise ships. Ever. In August 1969 I emigrated to Canada from the U.K. on a liner called The Empress of England. I'm terrified of the ocean, can't swim and hate deep water. I remember enjoying the voyage until I was on the top deck looking around and realizing how vulnerable our ship was, nothing around us in all directions but endless water!! I scurried back to the dining hall and distracted myself with some of the delicious food and drinks. The movie "Titanic" was a horror movie for me!

I once gave a ride to the captain of a very large cruise ship. He is on that ship for 6 - 9 months each year, touring the Caribbean and South-east Asia. He said on average 1 - 2 people go missing on each tour. Normally they notice when someone repeatedly does not show up for meals, then they go looking for him. Sometimes they find a s**cide note in the cabin, sometimes not. THEY DON'T EVEN LOOK FOR THEM ! Because he said the ocean is too vast, the chances of finding a person are so slim it's not worth it. There was a moment of silence in the car when he said that. I assume / I hope that they still stop when there are witnesses who see the person jump overboard. But when they find out days later that a person is gone, it's probably too late anyway.
Another reason I chose to be potentially blown up or shot instead of joining the navy, stuck in a dark metal wreck taking on water is nightmare fuel you have to be insane to join the navy
I just came back from a cruise and while out to sea on the second to the last day, there was a security officer walking all over the ship with a copy of a picture of a young boy (the boarding picture) The boy in the picture looked very young maybe 4 or 5. I saw the officer several times over a period of several hours…..no announcement was made that a child was missing? As the sun went down, he was still walking around…. I wonder if the boy was found and thought the sheer terror the parents must have felt 😢
@@CrimsonSurvival Even if you don't ship keels are covered with all kinds of barnacles and rusty edges meaning you might get horribly cut either way. There's also the nasty reality of *gargantuan inertia* of water being slammed against the sides of the hull, meaning the body gets slammed against it too... I mean sailing ships can get seriously damaged just being dragged along the sides of a large ship so needless to say that spells some nasty trauma for a human body. Without a life west a human drowns when you can't stay swim to stay afloat anymore. And if not pulled out of the water hypothermia sets in *even in tropical waters* . "Attractive nuisance" laws further this lack of responsibility. A kid climbs your fence and hurts himself on your kids' monkey bars or drowns in your swimming pool or falls out of your fruit tree, is it the fault of the kid? The kid's parents? Nope, under the law it's your fault. Crazy.

I had a friend several years ago who died after falling off the side of a cruise ship. It was docked in Boston Harbor, having a concert/party on board. My friend, drunk and stupid, got into an argument with his girlfriend. We've never got a straight answer about how he ended up overboard but her story was that he climbed over the railing and was trying to climb up or down to the next railing when he fell. His body was found almost a week later. Terribly sad, he was a great guy, but he did in fact do something incredibly stupid which ended up costing him his life.

I talked to him a week before that happened and then before I knew it he was gone. They searched for him for a week and then gave up the search. So sad. Rip to my buddy Ronnie Peale.
Based on what I just read about him…. Sounds like a friend I would have at my dinner table any day. May you and his loved ones be strengthen each day. 🙏🏽
Nobody pushes them over, cruise ships have reinforced steel rails, it'll be easier to murder someone than to push them overboard. Most of them are complete buffoons who try to jump.
well, if you see that there is a huge body of water. if you fall it in, you would be in it. if you can't swim in it, you will drown in it. simple logic, simple question.
How big are the gaps between the bars on the railing? I’m just wondering cause I have always been afraid a little kid might try to look down at the water and fall. When I look it up it never gives me a proper answer
My sister is on a cruise right now and she told me that a woman jumped overboard around 5AM in the Caribbean. The ship circled the spot for a few hours until the Coast Guard found her body. She must've been killed by the fall, because that's 90-110 feet from the deck that she jumped off of.
I've worked as a merchant mariner for 20 years. We do rescue drills where we throw a big orange raft overboard and then we practice turning the ship around and trying to spot the raft. It is extremely difficult to find the location of anything without a positioning device, even under perfect conditions like we had during drills

The first thing you do if you see someone fall over, or jump, is to throw a life ring into the water, or ANYTHING that floats. Next, raise the alarm, aka call the bridge.

If you look around, all you can see is the black darkness - there is zero light, as far as you can see. @JASMIYA💋 exactly! We would do this prank where we would catch people staring into the waves and imagining the terror of falling in then jump up behind them and hug them from the back, and they would always cling super tight to the bars. That only happens because everyone is naturally very scared of falling in when you notice how scary the ocean is!

I was watching an episode of "Evil Lives Here". This was one of the saddest things I have seen. This guy who was telling the story was the son of a serial killer growing up. When he was 15 years old, the father decided to leave the US because the cops were suspicious about his last murder. So he took his two sons to Belize, bought a sail boat and took tourists to different locations which could take a few days or a week crossing the ocean. This couple from England had just graduated college, she was an attorney and he was a doctor. But before they started their careers, they wanted to take six months and backpack across several countries. Unfortunately, they ran into this serial killer and his two sons. When they got out to sea, the serial killer hit the guy over the head as he was pulling up the anchor. The girl was in the cabin and saw the scuffle on deck and ran up. The serial killer pulls a knife, then ties their ankles together and ties their wrists and puts bags over their heads. He tells them that he's not going to kill them but let them go when they get close to land by throwing them overboard in knee deep water where they will be able to stand up. Instead he turns the boat around and heads out to the middle of nowhere where he throws them both overboard. The guy telling the story who was 15 at the time said he wanted to save them but what could he do? He's out in the middle of the ocean with his dad a serial killer and he had no doubt that his dad would have killed him and his younger brother too. He said they watched the bubble come up, then stop and after three minutes as the serial killer is looking at his watch says " they're dead". And that was it. They were so young and such a good looking couple who had a great future ahead of them. Their bodies washed up on shore three days later but went unidentified for 30 years until the son was able to finally get the authorities to listen to him about what his father did to them on that fateful day. The episode was called something like "Out To Sea". You can never be too careful when going to a remote place with a stranger. But who would have thought when you see the Dad with two young sons, he was a great manipulator and all of his murders were money motivated.
Something tells me that back in the day especially, but sometimes even today people commit suicide on the cruise by jumping off more often than we think. That's why sometimes people go missing on cruises and they're never found.
as a Navy Vet i find it odd a modern civi ship turns so slow. for those that ever experienced a man overboard our carriers can turn on a dime considering the size
Simple...that $13B ship you were on is built to inflict damage on an enemy and evade torpedos or a smaller fleet, a cruise ship which only costs $500M is built for luxury.

While we were on a cruise ship night visibility was zero beyond the ship's lights. The thought was, a fall overboard was 99.9999 percent fatal. We avoided the edges and rails of that ship.
I was on a cruise where a staff member went missing. Sadly he did go overboard during the night and the ship did turn around but because they didn’t know what time he was lost, there was no hope. Went on a cruise ship went on top to the golf course and the wind was blowing crazy and powerful out in the middle of the ocean I grabbed my sister and got back down inside. Cruise ships should eliminate that because that wind could easily snatch someone off that ship especially a younger or smaller person. I’m 5’10 225 I felt the tug and got me my sister from up there. Them ships move at a pretty high clip plus the wind from the ocean definitely not a safe place to be for drunk person or unaware people.
I have been in several cruise ships. The way they are designed there is no way possible the wind could " snatch someone up and throw them overboard " its not possible . Even if it is very windy . Also if they think it is that windy they will shut down activities like that to eliminate any " danger " .
So, do you understand, why that isn’t possible? That a gust of wind is never going to take you up and toss you? I mean, if not, how would you explain the golf ball not just rolling off, or being taken by a gust. It’s much smaller than you or your sister. I could go on, giving examples of things, but unless you can grasp the basic science, of why it won’t happen, it’s pointless.
Always interesting hearing about survivors who go in off aircraft carriers and survive. Heard a story of a guy who was in the Indian Ocean for three days but survived and was rescued. Training is everything
They could solve this easily by giving everyone a tracker bracelet and having a 24/7 live system which triggers an automatic red alert to a dedicated onboard emergency response team if anyones tracker should happen to stray more than 100 metres from the ships geometric footprint. The most obvious two methods of rescue would include a small contingent of helicopters kitted out with buoyancy aids so that the pilot and his team can set down in close proximity to the stranded casualty, alternatively the cruise ship could be modified so that it is capable of quickly deploying several high speed dedicated rescue seafaring vessels in order to quickly recover and return the stricken casualty back onboard the main ship. In order to do this some specialised bays would need to be designed into the cruise ship to both quickly and easily deploy and re-integrate the small rescue vessels as effortlessly and efficiently as possible. The reason this is not already currently in place is twofold, firstly because these instances are uncommonly rare and secondly probably because the cost of such adaptions are considered prohibitive . . . when considering the money that such operators can make annually though, these failsafe rescue programs should already be in place in my opinion.
Or people could just not jump off the ship.. And if someone really wants to do something stupid, you can’t stop them. You’re asking these companies to take a huge hit on their profit margins to increase the likelihood of saving someone that intentionally puts their life at risk. Money can do a lot of things, but it can’t fix stupid.
While serving aboard the USS Iwo Jima in the Marines back in the late 80's, myself and best friend Sgt. Davis were blown overboard when a AV-8B Harrier turned on us. (the exhaust blasted us over before we knew what happened). Luck for us, it was in the middle of day ops, and crystal clear, blue, fairly warm Mediterranean waters. Our green squadron maint. vest were easy to spot but it still took almost 3 hours before we were plucked from the drink. What's crazy is we had birds in the air already but they sent the Navy's UH-1N, that's used for this type of thing. We joked for years that our own squadron couldn't be bothered to pick us up, they were just too busy at the time...lol.

It doesn’t take an hour or more to slow down a big cruise ship. After being alerted to man overboard the ship will enter into a figure of 8 manoeuvre, I would hazard a guess that 10 minutes max the ship would be back in its original position. They are highly manoeuvrable and have GPS tracking. The main issue would be when someone jumps and it’s not seen or reported. Please use facts when trying to report factually.
I would hazard a guess that 10 minutes max the ship would be back in its original position. thus speaks a you tube scientist no pal , just no, cruise ships are made to go A/B cheaply as possible

You are correct ✅ problem could be easily solved
❤❤❤❤
Great idea. They need people like you on their board.
I agree
Or people could just not jump off the ship..
And if someone really wants to do something stupid, you can’t stop them.
You’re asking these companies to take a huge hit on their profit margins to increase the likelihood of saving someone that intentionally puts their life at risk. Money can do a lot of things, but it can’t fix stupid.
There are plenty of safety features built into the ships. If those knuckle heads want to win the Darwin Award, don't stop them.
Glad you two lived to tell the story 🙏🙏
Us too...lol. As crazy as it sounds, we were so busy that day that we were more pissed at the time that we had lost. 🤣Thanks@@HumanityRisingNow
moral of the story. Never get on a ship.
It's the suddenly getting off that's bed
I don't like being out at sea , If I can't get up and go home when I want I'm good..
So travelling via an airplane wouldn't work for you either??? Totally understand.
@@rowena6249 pretty much , I've never been on a plane.
So jail wouldn’t work for you either I’m guessing
@@dayrida 🤣🤣🤣
@@phillatio3266You are going to feel the same roller coaster feeling when it goes down, but you'll feel that when the plane takes off or even is about to land I think. It gets scary. I'm legit scared asf through plane rides most times
“ do something incredibly stupid “ … is the key part that humans are very good at doing.
Newer ships like carnival celebration on the main lido deck had glass then on the top deck. It had double railings so it wouldn’t even let you get close to the edge of the ship. All ships need this. Can’t stop people from jumping from a balcony room though
Being Stranded in the middle of the ocean seems like the premise for every horror movie ever.
The fact people need this video just to convince them not to jump off a cruise ship is wild
There was a man PUSHED off by his angry wife on my latest Bahama Cruise. Apparently she wasn’t happy with his casino loss. They arrested her in Freeport and he went home in a body bag. We heard him hit the Deck below after hitting a suspended life boat from their balcony. Remember that alcohol, bank accounts, casinos and relationships sometimes apparently don’t mix for some passengers! Now we can’t get the sound from our minds hearing that while trying to sleep and enjoy a vacation.
The most likely scenario is that you get turned into slush by the propellers. The suction is pretty intense.
Nothing like a nice cheerfull message to start u r day on 😂
It doesn’t take an hour or more to slow down a big cruise ship. Please use facts when trying to report factually.
doesn't matter how long it take, the dammmmm message he giving points
@@africandream5640nah,wrong. Give me the facts or go choke on something
He watched the titanic before making this video.
"I would hazard a guess that in 10 minutes MAX the ship would be back in it's original position."
Just no. 🕊️
I would hazard a guess that 10 minutes max the ship would be back in its original position.
thus speaks a you tube scientist
no pal , just no,
cruise ships are made to go A/B cheaply as possible
You’d have to do something stupid, jump intentionally, or get pushed overboard. So, the key takeaway is don’t go on a cruise if you’re stupid, depressed, or suspect you’re partner is premeditating your demise.
I love the part “you would have to do something incredibly stupid” lol. We need more videos like this lol
Even if they see you go over the chances of you surviving are slim to none especially if it’s nighttime
Titanic... Then that submarine that went to see Titanic. Bro, the ocean ain't playing with you.
Guess what was happening while everyone was so concerned about that little submarine? The United States became only the second country in the world to legalize lab grown meat! Nice little distraction there!
That’s right. The. Ocean. Does. Not. Play. She is NO respecter of person.
Rule of thumb. If you stay on a cruise ship. Please, please, please keep your
a$$ in your room at night, order a giant lobster with sweet butter with steamed broccoli, use your remote and flip through cable channels in your room.
Wut cable it’s only ; channels they want u to enjoy the ship nt jump out of it . JUST DNT B STUPID N WALK UR DUMBASSES TO THE ELEVATORS TO UR ROOMS. It’s nt that hard
You can do that at home. Why even bother going on the cruise then?
Imagine falling over and nobody saw you and you yelling loud as you can in the water
“Hence the key take away, don’t fall overboard”
I never would have thought of that…
I was on a cruise and saw 2 teens jumping they were yelling for help. The captain was advised as it was turning, but you could see something pulling them under
The pull must be incredible. I read that better to jump off stern as if near the edge of the ship alongside can get sucked into propellers
Sharks waiting
YOU CANNOT "FALL" OVERBOARD !! You can jump overboard but you cannot fall overboard
Someone can throw you over
@@donnalawrence9054 but that's not "accidental" that is deliberate and intentional.
@@markhilken7026 I agree. I have been on cruises
“The key takeaway is: don’t fall overboard.” Genius! 😂
One dude actually survived that ordeal.
I saw a kid jump off a cruise ship on a dare. The video was circulating on Twitter. He must have been on drugs and alcohol I can’t conceive any other way that anyone in their right mind would do something so dumb. He jumped unknowingly into heavily shark infested waters at night time. They never even found a body, and after he jumped you can hear people laughing and joking about it. If only someone had the sense to stop him.
what and spoil a chance for a viral video and 20k "likes"
I think they were all drunk teenagers. What a waste of life.
@@fatimapalacios2292I still get emotional hearing of this one as it hits too close to home. He reminded me of my own 18yr old son...his whole life ahead just gone in an instant
I remember that one. He had just graduated and was on a dinner cruise in the Bahamas. His friends threw a life preserver in the water, but he swam the opposite direction because of the sharks nearby. Poor soul😪
