Dear OP, YTA ,this is toxic parenting. You're gaslighting your child. Even if your kid was lying she would have been embarrassed at the ER and she'd get her medicine for lying, but the fact that you said that she never mentioned going back on the fact that her knee was hurting even after you threatened to take to the ER (and yes based on the fact that you assumed she was lying, you were threatnening her just to see if she'd fess up) should have told you something is wrong. You told her to lie to the doctor and insisted on not letting her go to school just so your image wasn't ruined and tried to make yourself sound better by saying that she'd exaggerate it. You can't pull the "boy who cried wolf" story on your child, regardless if they may be lying you have to be concerned especially if they arent letting up on something like an injury. God forbid your child had a broken bone, would you be trying to justify yourself then?
