If Sensei John Kreese’ students wanna blame Sensei John Lawrence for what Robby did to Miguel, they might wanna blame Carmen Diaz once they find out the influence she’s been having over him. Daniel LaRusso‘s mostly at fault because he refused to leave the past where it was. Sensei John Kreese is partially at fault because he refused to leave Vietnam where it belongs. Carmen Diaz is partially at fault because of her unrealistic influence on Sensei John Lawrence. I hope Sensei John Lawrence realizes this in Season 3.

There are no winner or loser in the real world. Life isn’t a war like a video game. It’s about learning lessons about Life, humans and other than respond with physical violence.
"We have to fight...for every inch of what's ours." There are people reading this that will never understand how real this statement is for some of us.
I understand the statement very well hell Im actually one of those people. A lot school counselors thought I wouldn’t make it in high school because I had ADD. But being merciless doesn’t make you weak or pathetic in crease’s mind he makes you stronger then the very bully that bullies the kid. Winning isn’t everything sometimes losing and actually help you grow as a person. It shows that in life we won’t always win but we do learn how to be better and how we can be winners in our own way.
@Robert Barbeau If Sam is guilty of anything, it's about her jumping to conclusions. A LaRusso trait that had been passed down from generation to generation unfortunately. It might've seemed strange coming from Sam, but at the same time, that quote is very true. Everyone has a sob story, but that doesn't give you the right to be a bully.
@@alanchamberlain9902 that’s why cobra Kai should win but of course they wouldn’t make kreese win. It’s a shame because I’m rooting for him in season 4.

@@JohnPerry27 I mean, technically you can. There are methods that can use if someone is holding a gun or knife to you. And who is to say he is just talking about the karate? He could also be referring to the state of mind, use Cobra Kai's ideals and apply them the real life scenarios like how Miguel applied Johnny's never accept defeat to asking out Sam.
“The other side never fights with any honor.” He’s literally experienced that, which is why he still maintains his ideals on what Cobra Kai is supposed to be, and why he still taught the next gen to do and be the same.

Here's a hint from the clip alluding to Silver's possible return: Remember in KKIII when Silver and Kreese are talking over the phone and he mentions to Kreese that he's going to teach Daniel about fear and pain and the kicker is "he's gonna thank me for it". Now Kreese is saying "one day you'll thank me for this Johnny". Anybody else notice that?
anyone notice how kreese said “we have a visitor” like he did in the karate kid movie, maybe symbolizing that johnny and daniel will team up to take him down.
I wish but the landlord was the heavy set middle eastern dude. Silver finances Cobra Kai I think in the original. At lrast, till Kreese gets students to pay Silver the money back.
The way that Tory nods confidently at Kreese when he says, "There are no losers in this dojo" sends shivers up my spine and the fact that the camera focuses in on her during that moment is definitely foreshadowing something deep. I'm convinced that Tory is a spy sent in by Kreese or that she's gonna end up being his right-hand man in this whole war. The idea of two evil people like that working together is freaky.
In certain situations, mostly in the worst of situations, mercy is not to be shown to those who truly want to harm you or what you hold dear. When all you do is show no mercy, then all you're doing is going around thinking that any one who challenges you is in the way of what you want, and then you think that the other person doesn't deserve what they have, so you take it from them. You take, and you take, and you take and all that's left is that hole in your heart that makes you want more of what other people have. A real fighter doesn't take what they want, they earn it. You earn it with respect, honor, and integrity. If you show no mercy, then mercy will not be shown to you, and all that will be left of you is something beaten down and broken.
showing mercy is right because remember in karate kid 2 when miyagi said ''someone with no forgiveness in heart may live in even worse punishment than death.'' that means if you show no mercy you will not live a good life. everyone will hate you will be in jail you will be lonely and no one will forgive you
And ultimately Miguel didn't got hurt gravely because of "Mercy". He was hurt because Robby had pent-up anger and made a grave mistake no different to how Miguel treated him the past seasons... Mercy here was never the problem, it was the toxic ideology of making everyone your enemy and not stopping to talk
..... No, I still don't think Kreese is right. There's a difference between "no mercy" and "no decency"; destroying everything that crosses you only builds more enemies and makes everyone perceive you as an animal. Miguel was not wrong in showing Robby mercy; his only mistake was keeping his guard down.
Kreese has yet to learn that whenever he has tried to fight or act dirty (literally or figuratively), it has drastically backfired on him every time. Examples: 1) Forcing Bobby to put Daniel 'out of commission' in the 1984 tournament despite Bobby pleading he could beat him the right way. Then Daniel ends up winning it all anyway. 2) Threatening Mr. Miyagi shortly after the tournament when he intervened to stop him from strangling Johnny then ending up with two broken hands and an empty dojo. 3) Conspiring with Silver and Barnes to get Daniel into the next tournament with intimidation tactics in an effort to get Cobra Kai re-emerged but end up failing miserably. Eventually he's going to re-abdicate Cobra Kai again somehow and it seems like the only way for it to become permanent is by Daniel and Johnny working together.
John Lawrence started out teaching his students the same thing but he went a bit soft when he started talking to Daniel Russo, reconnecting with Robby Keene, and also Carmen Diaz.
Soft? I think more merciful but that does not make you weak... Kreese thinks you have to win EVERY time.. that is not possible because by losing you gain experience in real life and situations.....
Yes. Soft. In a fight, showing makes you weak. SenSei John Kreese says you fight only to win, your fight's only over when you say it is, and defeat does not exist in his dojo. Miguel Diaz got kicked off the rail because he got soft because SenSei John Lawrence got soft because of Carmen Diaz' unrealism. If he dies, that's on her for her unrealism, Daniel LaRusso for his antagonism, and that slut Samantha LaRusso for her manipulations.
0:14. Reminds me when Kreese matched Bobby and the black dude in the first movie then said what are you looking at FINISH HIM! That's exactly like this scene here accept he's not as determined. Man history has a way of repeating itself.
Martin Kove can play two extremes of John Kreese well... in the 80s we had the John kreese that was outwardly reckless... and now we still have the same John kreese... reckless but his mellow soft face approach to the reckless is crazy... still makes him intense... plays both versions well... he’s in your face like in the 80s but his slow paced demeanor makes him even more intimidating
While Miguel breaking Robbie's arm would've saved him, you can't go around breaking everyone's arm on the off-chance that they're going to unexpectedly attack you, just as you can't pull a gun on every person you ever meet on the off-chance they could randomly attack you. Risk is a park of life but that does not justify threatening/injuring every person you run across "with no mercy"
I believe Terry Silver helped John Kreese steal Cobra Kai away from Johnny Lawrence. Given that he's a multi-millionaire, he has plenty of connections, which may also include Armand (the landlord of the strip mall the Cobra Kai dojo is on) and Tom Cole (Daniel's car dealership rival). I believe Terry Silver helped Tom Cole steal Daniel's workers (including Anoush) by promising them more money and better positions at Tom Cole's dealerships, in an attempt to bankrupt Daniel's business and to hurt him financially. How about this for a twist, because Daniel fired him in the first season, Daniel's cousin Louie, Jr. works for Daniel's rival Tom Cole. That would add even more dysfunction within the LaRusso family.
Great stuff... when the family business gets affected and Anthony gets seriously bullied with his extra weight, Daniel's wife will have a change of heart about "no karate" policy.
DefLeppardVanHalen I think you’re definitely on the right track! I always thought that piece of shit Terry Silver helped Kreese with everything (getting Cobra Kai back, starting shit with Miyagi-do) I bet Mike Barnes will also return.
I have this exact theory. I definitely think Terry Silver has been helping Kreese behind the scenes the whole time, it would best explain how Kreese was able to own the dojo despite being "homeless" (I believe he faked that just so Johnny could see him at a low point, remember that Johnny didn't trust Kreese until that point). Not just that, but Terry had connections with a guy named Willie Cole in Karate Kid 3. Tom Cole could be a relative.
Yeah I was wondering if they were going bring in terry silver eventually. Really, unless Silver is dead or lost his fortune somehow, I dont think he would just let Kreese live in he gutter like that. Once Kreese took back Cobra Kai, not only through force but also legally appearantly, it definitely seems that theyll at least implicate Silver in some compacity. Idk about Barnes though, he was only like 19 or 20 at the time, people grow and evolve. If he does come back then theres a lot of possibilties of which direction to take that character, good or bad intentions.
I felt really bad for Tori's backstory about her mom. And she was right. Life isn't fair & the world shows no mercy. So why should we? We have to take matters into our own hands. Differences, wrong choices, and hard times are caused by unfair and sometimes unforeseen circumstances. But don't let those circumstances cloud your judgement.
2 years later but I might have an answer to "why should we show mercy?" When you go with the flow you can't expect anything to change or to get better. We should show mercy to give others a good example, to tell them there is another way. The outcome would be obvious for those who want to see.
Kreese is right IRL if it's worth putting someone on the floor make sure they can't or don't want to get up afterwards. Of course 9 times out of 10 better to just walk away.
Martin Kove is such a down to earth guy. He and his son Jesse were very appreciative of the fancy cigars I got them from my Gran Canaria trip a week prior
3:00 this scene shows how much of a phycopath Kreese really is, he sees everything as war, Johnny saw Miyagi-do as a competitor, while kreese believed and even said a war was coming and threatened to kill Daniel
Daniel started the war and kreese isn’t one to back down. He didn’t start cobra Kai in the 70s to wage war did he. He started it to help kids and teens in the real world.
@@andybutch3622 He doesn’t want his students to make the mistake of showing mercy. In Vietnam he showed mercy and look where that got him , in a cage in a Vietnamese compound. He teaches his students lessons he learned from his own life experiences through karate.
Kreese is wrong that in a war there is no honour. I read a book about paratroopers in WW2. When the German were fighting the New Zealanders in Crete, there were accounts them treating each other's wounds on the battlefield. They even joked with each other about who would drive the other into the sea.
Face Off different war. Creese was fighting Viet Cong insurgents who wore no uniforms, and blended in with civilians. He was also in Special Forces who often cannot take prisoners because of the nature of their mission.
@Nikolaij Brouiller But then again, US used Agent Orange and chemical weapons just decades before they invade Iraq for the false accusations of Bioweapons while the chemical weapons which they themselves gave to Iraq, it's all pursuits of interests and bending law, morality and values of interests to one's whim for consummation by powers
I noticed something here and the scene in season 3 where hawk kicks the tree off the top, is that in that scene kreese eventually walks up to a couple cobras and they all either don’t make eye contact or break eye conteact with kresse, even hawk while only slightly, still breaks eye contact However, in this scene kreese walks right up to miguel, but miguel maintains eye contact, showing further that he is the new king cobra
If he taught that as a life lesson I definitely agree, you need to knock your opponent down, to keep yourself safe. But this method doesn't apply in tournament when your opponent is as merely a competitor not an enemy.
9:44 "Even if they have to learn the hard way" The way he says that shows that he is talking about Johnny, as he still considers him his student and tries to teach him a lesson, more than everybody else. This is why fans love to hate and hate to love John Kreese
John Kreese wasn’t right, Miguel attacked Robby first. Miguel made fun of Robby’s relationship with Sam and Johnny during the fight which angered Robby, you can’t give a weak apology at the last second and expect the fight to end.
Hey I saw a few of your comments and check out this video here of me.. I think i match the energy and intensity of some of the cobra kai people: ruclips.net/video/f-g3bWVMYw0/видео.html
The only time you don't show your enemy no mercy is when they put an weapons on you I felt so bad for Tory and her life but Tory was absolutely right the world doesn't show no mercy
Imo Johnny’s philosophy of Cobra Kai is based off combat. Kreeses philosophy of Cobra Kai is founded from war. That’s why Johnny as a Sensei teaches power, but Kreese teaches survival. It’s funny seeing their dynamic as sensei and student. If they didn’t have that falling out, Johnny probably would’ve believed him when he warned him, and thanked him for still caring as a sensei.
If they just showed what Kreese had gone through, then maybe I’d have more respect for him. Cuz I can kinda tell that there’s PTSD he’s suffering from right now, but he needs to realize he’s home now, and these are just kids trying to better themselves. Now he’s gonna be making them assholes and criminals
Hopefully this leads to a Daniel-Johnny team-up....They’ve disagreed on almost everything since they’ve known each other but they both can agree that Kreese is scum. Both have made their mistakes but they did have good intentions in their own way. Kreese, on the other hand, is a monster who exploits thise around him. He’s just using those students to get back the only thing he really cares about which is his so-called Cobra Kai glory. Hopefully they can finally take him down once and for all.
"is that how you wanna live your life?" That right there is excellent writing, Johnny sees so much of himself in Miguel, and is trying desperately to steer him away from making the same mistakes he made.
(Kreese drops in to Silver's mansion) Silver: What's this bag? Movin in? Kreese: No... it's the same drill. Send me to Tahiti first and then we'll talk.
I love Kreese. Back then in the 80's he seemed like a prick but as the world of us humans evolved as pussies It now shows Kreese really was right all along. Look what happens when you show mercy over the years it adds up. When you show no mercy you show your the survival of the fittest and it keeps us stronger then ever.
I used to hate kreese, but with what happened to miguel and him always talking about vietman and not showing mercy, I feel like one of his friends was killed cause they was trying to show mercy and since then kreese knew better. Despite him hyping up false claims to some of the things he did, he really was in the special forces at a time. Now being older and seeing different shades of life, showing no mercy does make alot of sense.
When you show no mercy over the years you end up in homeless shelters at the age of 70 threatening people and being a miserable loser. What happened to Miguel wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been corrupted by the no mercy ideal in the first place. Your argument just doesn't hold up.
But when you show no mercy you become a prick to society. Sometimes forgiveness is the right answer. Look at the Middle East, look at Palestine, hell look at Asia. When you don’t show forgiveness the world goes to hell. Kreese embodies a Filipino saying, “Every person can be turned into a soldier, not everyone can be turned back.” He can’t let go. Not showing mercy leads to terrorist attacks. We don’t live in a perfect world, but that doesn’t mean we can’t strive to make one.

“Even if you get cherry blossoms, be alarmed. What do you do if a storm blows?” “ Zanshin (remaining mind) ” is a balance between cherishing cherry blossoms and being careful. It's not about eliminating mercy, also different from fear of death. It is weakness to throw away mercy from fear and hatred. So it is necessary to do “Zen”. I learned that from My Sensei.
Kreese only cares for is himself. Honor vs Mercy its good to be both, But in the end of the moment you have the upper hand the right thing to do is have honor. Revenge creates a nasty mess for the one who craves it. Kreese will hit rock bottom even worst then 80s. I hope Johnny learns the truth art of martial arts. It’s about being relaxed while fighting vs being aggressive.
sorry but that's your opinion. Do you see fighters in boxing easing up when they've got their opponent hurt? no, they go in for the finish. The fight is over when one can't fight back anymore or if they both last till the end, then the judges decide.. You show mercy in a real life fight and give your enemy a chance to fight back, you can end up like Miguel. Fight smart, nice guys finish last.
@@KryptonPlayer That's because it's their JOB to do that. Sad that Hawk turned his back on Johnny. He really did respect his sensei. I am guessing it is because he think that his friend got hurt because of the sensei's lesson. He will be back if Miguel is okay in season 3.

Kreese escalated the situation which made it turn violent. He made a self fulfilling prophecy about an enemy you couldn't turn your back to because he created that enemy and situation. No mercy is not equivalent to keeping your guard up. And keeping your guard up only became truly necessary because Kreese made it that way. And Kreese's philosophy isn't good in the real world. People don't have the license to act like they are in war zone, because they are not. They exist in a time and place where seriously injuring or assaulting someone ruins your life.

He started out teaching that difference until he started to get soft when he started talking to his nemesis Daniel LaRusso, reconnecting with his son Robby Keene, and bonding with his student Miguel Diaz’s mom Carmen Diaz.
Tory was about to put Mitch to bed with a knee to the head. He was lucky Miguel spoke when he did.
What if Tory is the actual granddaughter of Kreese and it wasn't just prison aliases?
I like how he does the same pose as he did in the first movie
Ikr.
Wow, Martin Kove looks incredibly well
showing mercy is right because remember in karate kid 2 when miyagi said ''someone with no forgiveness in heart may live in even worse punishment than death.'' that means if you show no mercy you will not live a good life. everyone will hate you will be in jail you will be lonely and no one will forgive you
And ultimately Miguel didn't got hurt gravely because of "Mercy". He was hurt because Robby had pent-up anger and made a grave mistake no different to how Miguel treated him the past seasons... Mercy here was never the problem, it was the toxic ideology of making everyone your enemy and not stopping to talk
Miguel showed mercy to Robby.. Robby didint and kicked him over the rail and he broke his spine cos of it... it’s clear Robby is the villian
@@isa.bel_he was angry because of Miguel who jumped on him with no reason. Miguel strikes first, so don’t expect he receives mercy

Its true and he’s right , in the real world you can’t show mercy. You have to leave them so they are unable to fight back.
..... No, I still don't think Kreese is right. There's a difference between "no mercy" and "no decency"; destroying everything that crosses you only builds more enemies and makes everyone perceive you as an animal.
Miguel was not wrong in showing Robby mercy; his only mistake was keeping his guard down.
Yep that’s accurate
Kreese has yet to learn that whenever he has tried to fight or act dirty (literally or figuratively), it has drastically backfired on him every time. Examples:
1) Forcing Bobby to put Daniel 'out of commission' in the 1984 tournament despite Bobby pleading he could beat him the right way.
The moment Kreese said "hit him again", we knew he hasn't changed.

Mortal Kombat aint got shit on John Kreese
Martin Kove can play two extremes of John Kreese well... in the 80s we had the John kreese that was outwardly reckless... and now we still have the same John kreese... reckless but his mellow soft face approach to the reckless is crazy... still makes him intense... plays both versions well... he’s in your face like in the 80s but his slow paced demeanor makes him even more intimidating
Kreese is a magnificent villain
While Miguel breaking Robbie's arm would've saved him, you can't go around breaking everyone's arm on the off-chance that they're going to unexpectedly attack you, just as you can't pull a gun on every person you ever meet on the off-chance they could randomly attack you. Risk is a park of life but that does not justify threatening/injuring every person you run across "with no mercy"
Watching clips of previous season, I’m gonna be honest 2 is still my favorite. The school fight was a huge turning point in the show too.
sensei creese way of life fits perfectly in this world, Kove is such an underrated character

Never instigate the fight but if you find yourself in a situation you strike first strike hard and show no mercy.

Kreese is wrong that in a war there is no honour. I read a book about paratroopers in WW2. When the German were fighting the New Zealanders in Crete, there were accounts them treating each other's wounds on the battlefield. They even joked with each other about who would drive the other into the sea.

That's what I learnt, Kreese is 100 percent right
I used to hate kreese, but with what happened to miguel and him always talking about vietman and not showing mercy, I feel like one of his friends was killed cause they was trying to show mercy and since then kreese knew better.
