Such a thoughtful and rational comparison! I like your conclusion - when choosing which one to buy, get both! But as you say, if you have to buy just one, it's a matter of getting the right tool for the job you want it to do.
I own both of them as they are great camera so far in the market, I use gopro in the extreme weather while dji 2 is suitable in low light conditions. now I am looking forward to dji action 2, Hope to see your next review soon.

This is a thorough and thoughtful review. Thank you for taking time and for the non-biased review. As you stated, the device will only be as good as the intended purpose.
This is a great comparison. Have watched a couple of comparisons and the dji (and canon g7x, etc) beat the gopro on video quality, especially low light. Audio quality is better on the dji. Price is the same for me, but I went with gopro. For me, I value easy to change batteries and durability (can chuck in bag) more than the noticeable boost in video quality. I think I can live with the quality tradeoffs as the purpose of the gopro is that it can take the fall and beatings instead of your expensive phone or dedicated camera. Even though the battery life is really good on dji (2hr), having the ability to change batteries is important to me as it's so easy to prepare and change batteries. This review definitely helped me make my choice. Both very good cameras for sure.
Thanks for the video. I've been debating buying a Hero10 instead of carrying on with my Pocket 2 but based on this evidence I won't. The Pocket 2 is still a superior image quality in my opinion. I much prefer the more realistic colours and it's still better in low light.
@@TheHybridShooter Yes they are, I didn't mean to sound like they were poor it's just a matter of taste. Thanks for your thorough comparison. At one time I had TWO GoPro Hero 8 as well as the Pocket2. Ever since I got a hold of the P2, I quickly gotten rid of my GoPro. Maybe it is just me, I find GoPro footage doesn't work well and generally looks bad when edited using DaVinci Resolve 16 or 17. That being said, footage shot by the P2 looks sharper even @ just 2.7K and especially in low light situations, and I never needed to optimize the clips before editing either. Those are some of the main reasons why I decided to stay away from GoPro. Again, maybe it is just me.
@@ikwuamaesi as long as you do not hit the axis / gimbal, you should have NO trouble when moving forward. I owned a DJI Osmo Pocket for a while, and my big gripe about it was that much of the functionality that is built into a GoPro required some sort of additional dongle/doodad/attachment on the DJI. Not having built-in WiFi was annoying, but head-scratching decisions like attaching the wrist strap to the case rather than the camera made owning and using it an exercise in annoyance, because I felt like I spent more time fooling with it than shooting with it. Unfortunately, the Pocket 2 brings along all of the same gripes about the original.
It's just not for you in that case. I have addressed that in some of my Pocket 2 videos. Putting everything inside the main unit would make it too big and too complex and defeat the main purpose of the Pocket 2. I think that it works the best as it is. BTW Pocket 2 has strap attachment on the camera.
@@TheHybridShooterYeah, that was pretty much the conclusion that I’d come to when I sold it last year! :) Moving the wrist strap mount to the body of the camera actually addresses my biggest complaint about it (no way to secure it to your person out of the case without hokey attachments) so maybe I need to give it another look.

Never the less I also love GoPro for ruggedness, quick one button recording, and great color/picture quality in good light (as well as other things like night time-lapse, multiple FOV, etc). Not really, the focusing and wide aperture is mainly there for objects close the camera and letting more light in. You can't really blur the background at focal length and sensor size.

If the price is right I would rather get that device instead of the GoPro.

cant wait for the osmo action 2 video soon compare with pocket 2 :)
is the DJI Pocket 2 waterproof like the gopro is?
No, it isn’t.
DJI Pocket 2 waterproff ?
No
Very helpful, thank you
Great review. I do like my DJI Pocket and I am thinking about upgrading to Pocket 2 but I also want a action camera however I find that the GoPro is rather expensive and I was looking at the DJI Action but it seems that DJI might launch a new action device soon. If the price is right I would rather get that device instead of the GoPro.
What about being waterproof? I was hoping you'd mention that. I believe only the GoPro is waterproof.

Low light performance rules out GPH10 for me. Which is good because the pocket is cheaper :D
Wow best breakdown of both thanks 👌
Thank you!
