Wow… That was so interesting about the ravelry yarn search. I didn’t know you could do that. So thanks for putting that in your video. Just an idea, maybe include more Ravelry highlights? If you know of something that others might not know about, that would be great. Love the videos as always.
Thank you so much for the tip. That is a really good idea. I dont want to go longer (actually, i would like videos to be under an hour) so i will have to work on being more concise. Not less relevant or helpful information. Just getting it out a little quicker... ;)
I would like to also thank you, it’s always great to find an Australian knitting podcast. It’s really hard being in the opposite season to most of the world so happy to find you. Getting warm down here in Melbourne too, 30°C yesterday but I live in a mud brick house so substantially cooler in here for knitting. ❤
The Baker's Hat is cute and I love the colours the fingerless knits as well. Then the next one which you are pulling back yes it needs that done. I love a cream coloured sweater. The grey sweater is really looking good. The Audrey Top is a statement top with the fab colour. I started commenting on the podcast but I could not remember all the wips and was going to come back this morning to finish the comments. Tash take care ❤😊
You add a great amount of positivity and value to the world Tash! WHOA.. that Ravelry yarn colour search blew my mind. Thank you! Your Steingass TEST is going to be amazing. Can't wait to see!
I was looking for a small project for my great granddaughters and the fingerless mitts will be perfect. I ordered the free pattern and it is already on my printer. Sorry I am a week late viewing your video. It’s been a bit crazy in our household. Always love watching your podcasts. ❤
Thanks for sharing that Ravelry feature with the two colors of the yarn. I had no idea! I love seeing the bird couple in your window back there 🐦⬛ Also…maybe I’ve already mentioned this, but Helle on her Danish Musings youtube channel talked about her Seoul blouse in episode 19. Like you she shares a lot of details about her knits…how it went, issues she had, etc
Thank you so much! I very much enjoyed your podcast!!! You are interesting and informative, I feel like I got a lot from you and appreciate the sharing on projects, very helpful… I am a new viewer but will be looking forward to next time🥰 good job 💕
Thanks for the Ravelry tip, Tash. There is so much I don't know about it; would you consider doing a tutorial sometime on getting the most out of Ravelry? You are so good at explaining concepts! Love your podcast; there aren't many Aussie accents in the knitting pod world, you are great.
Thanks so much Karen. That is a really good idea - to have it in one place rather than spread out through the podcast and you cant remember which one it was in if you want to look something up again. I can definitely add that to the list. :)
Your podcast most certainly makes a huge difference for me as a knitter and I always learn something new! Thank you for sharing your knitting journey with us and I am eager to see your beautiful Steingass Test Knit!
It's too bad the cruise has gotten terrible reviews. I can't imagine anything better than being at sea with other crafters, knitting and chatting away. So relaxing. Totally makes sense though. Can't do everything. Next year, I hope to make it to Flock. As festivals go, it looks so wonderful, and it seems a lot more relaxed than Rhinebeck (not that I've been, but it's on my list). Can't wait to see how that mohair pairs with the JaggerSpun (it's a hard J, like Mick Jagger). I have a sweater quantity of it for an as yet undecided project, and it's such a delicious color.
I really enjoyed this podcast. Your knitting is amazing and the tips and tricks that you share are appreciated too. I cannot wait to see how your pink sweater looks after you sort the arm length out. Thank you for today's podcast. Go well and take care, I will be waiting with baited breath for the gauge podcast. Thank you for doing that too.
Hi Tash, your Sellwood Tee is so cute! I wanted to mention that I also made The Throwover, using the exact 3 color ways of the Spin Cycle as Andrea did in her sample. I found it very frustrating that you only use such a small amount of each color before changing to the next that the colors in the skein just don't change that quickly. So I ended up cutting and starting at a different area of the skein to get some variation. Ugh, expensive yarn and I had to chop it up! Lesson learned. Take Care!
Thank you so much for sharing that Carrie. I will definitely have to find a use for anything that gets pulled out as it is too expensive to waste. Just hard if it is lots of little pieces...
Great episode. Thank you. My first thoughts were ‘wonderful projects’ and that the Porcelain sweater is knittted with Tynn Peer Gynt which is fingering weight, not Peer Gynt, which explains the gauge difference. I’m sure others have mentioned this- but just in case.
Hi! Fairly new viewer here from the US. I’m not sure how I found you but I really enjoy your podcast episodes. I love all the detail that you share. And, loved getting to hear and see the bird in the background :)
I've been using this method for years. I often use 2 lightbulb stitch marker fastened to each other. On cable crossing rows, or increases or decreases, I let one of the markers hang off of the other. On the no change type rows I put both of the markers on my needle. If I have 2 different 'special' rounds as well as 'plain' rounds, I'll use two colors - one for increases the other for crossing or whatever. Plain rounds always have both markers up on the needle. So convenient! Just pick up the project and check to see the state of the double markers. Quick and easy!
This is one of your best podcasts yet (and you set the bar so high!) So many beautiful projects, and your thought processes on frogging, planning, adapting are really inspiring. Just a thought on the Nordiska - if you are really short on the pink yarn, you could do the 2 x 2 ribbing in the grey and then use the pink for a ribbbed edge. You would only need a small amount but it would tie the design together x
Thanks so much for your lovely comments and for the suggestion for Nordiska. I think it is a really good option and i had thought about it as well but decided that i would like it all to finish on the pink. It's ok though. I had more rows of ribbing on the sleeves than on other places so i think i can make it work. x
Hi Tash. Your wellwood tee is a beauty as is all of your knits 🧶. I have what I call a “Chairdrobe” 😅😅 where the clothes that I’ve worn don’t need to go straight to the wash but can be worn again (jeans etc). Thanks for sharing your interests with us 🙋🏼🏴. BTW. I did your episode in 2 bites. One over breakfast and one over lunch (out for coffee in between)
Hello Tash. You might be interested to look at Danish Musings episode 19. She has made a beautiful Seoul Blouse (I think she was a test knitter). Loved your show as always. 😊
Thank you so much Annie. I have seen that one - I love Helle and watch all of her episodes - but i think that was about a month ago so i will have to go back and watch that section again. x
Nice job on the Sellwood. It would probably look nice with a black camisole underneath, depending on the color of the variation in the yarn. Roxanne Richardson also has instructions for binding off at the start or end of a row for shaping symmetrically.
Thanks so much Jillian. And thank you for the tip about Roxanne and binding off at the end of a row. It definitely is a common thing. I have been knitting for decades and never done it. Always happening to learn something new if there is a use for it though. :)
I've knit both No Frills and Monday Sweater. They're both great patterns and I like both sweaters. But Monday Sweater wins. Just nicer finishing. The Ravelry description of yours was interesting and helpful. Thank you again.
Thanks so much for that information Rhonda. I love hearing that you have knit both and feel like the Monday sweater is the preferred option. Makes me want to knit it even more. :)
You give such good advice! I wish you had tips for South Africans ordering lovely yarn from around the world. I only saw one South African podcast and she seems to have stopped making episodes. I feel like we should be able to have access to reasonably priced Merino and mohair because we produce a lot of it, but so far no luck. I love the changes you made to your SellwoodTee.
Hi Tash A couple of thoughts about yarn purchasing-The Yarn Bowl in Brisbane do stock Sandnesgarn Line - so you could save shipping miles as it’s already come here in bulk . But it may be cheaper to buy from that Scandinavian website you mentioned. And interestingly a friend in my knitting group recently wanted specific colours of Tukuwool fingering for a sweater - the local retailer Convent and Chapel didn’t have one of the colours so we priced it out and buying directly from Tukuwool in Finland was actually cheaper! And she got the yarn in one week. So worth checking out buying directly. I’ve looked into making the Seoul sweater but it takes Geoard Garn Hope Silke which is impossible to get here. And it’s an uncommon linen silk blend held with another Gepard Garn, a lace cashmere. So not sure what I’ll do there. Finally for your frogged pink yarn - just wrap it around a rack tightly and blast it with steam from your iron - always works perfectly and so much easier than soaking.
Thank you so much Jenny. I think buying direct can often be a good option. I found that to be the case with Knitting for Olive. It does sound like sourcing the recommended yarn for the Seoul blouse would be challenging. I might have to look at yarnsub. Thanks for the tip with my curly yarn. That is probably all it needs. :)
Love your videos! It didn’t seem like you had yarn labels on your little remnant balls. Do you just remember what each one is? I stopped keeping very small remnants, but your little balls are so charming and tidy, I might be inspired to start saving again.
Hi, just to let you know that the Porcelain Sweater is knitted with Tynn Peer Gynt which is a fingering/ 4 ply yarn, rather than Peer Gynt which is DK/8ply. 😊
I saw that sweater from Aegyoknits on Danish Musings Chanel. You might have a look into her podcast to get input regarding knitting it flat 😊. It's one of the last podcasts she did. Kind regards from Austria 👋
I will be waiting for your gauge video as I am trying to get gauge of 22/30 but am getting 19/26 on suggested needles. I went down from 4mm to 3.25mm but get 19/25 so not much difference. Am puzzled, think perhaps make smaller size. Question: is 8 ply acrylic worth swatching and is it warm enough for our Aussie winter. Love your garter band sweater btw it is lovely.
Hi Laurel. I just posted it. I hope you find it helpful. I think swatching is always helpful to at least know what to expect when you start knitting and to be sure you are knitting the right size. 8ply acrylic would still be a good layering piece for winter but might need another layer when it is really cold. :)
Thank you so much for that information Ursula. I missed that entirely. No wonder the 21st gauge. I was wondering how that was possible. Thanks for catching my error. I will correct that next week. :)
Hi Tash. Those Indian Mynas in the background are an introduced and highly invasive species. They are aggressive and will chase away all of your native birds. If I were you, I’d remove their nest.
@ Hard to do if they already have chicks but we need to help out our native birds, especially given all the other environmental stress they face. Forgot to say how interesting and useful your knitting tips are. I’m learning so much!
In the United States, sales taxes are levied on purchases that occur within a particular state, ie New York, Texas. So if you ship to a location outside of the state, you shouldn't be charged the state sales tax. That can pretty much even out the cost of buying locally versus shipping to Australia (if you ignore the ghastly US/Aus $ exchange rate).
I can't believe my last comment is still there! My comments have vanished almost every time for weeks, mostly on your videos! Not sure what is going on. Anyway, your Sellwood looks great!

I have experienced this before when i have commented on someone else's podcast but only when i included a link to something. So i just dont include links anymore. I don't understand why an Australian should have to pay California sales tax. When I sold to Mexicans they went to a place and got their sales tax refunded. I had to collect it to appease the state as a business but the people who don't live here were able to be reimbursed.
