I was the guy with pink hair who said spencer would run 49.3. I met both specer and ally at this meet and can confirm they are just as nice and funny in person as on camera. Keep up the good work!
Let's just say this... Running a 1:51 off the pace you have at present is pretty remarkable... Time to start cracking out some 200's with LONG recoveries...
I have been waiting for 4 years to say that i'm faster than Spence (at a specific point in time, not PR wise), AND THAT DAY CAME, THANK YOU SPENCE, NOW GO RUN 48 AND 1:48
Spence, you’ve always been a naturally fast runner who’s trained for middle and distance events. You’re strong. Now is the time to learn how to sprint. Learn how to run like a sprinter ie. form and power. If you can lengthen your stride with some weight room lifting and maintain your current training you can be world class! Keep it up man! ❤
He needs to lengthen his stride but it can't be forced. Also armswing seems a little fast/choppy. I think a combination of strength and flexibility training can only help.
Fun little race spence time to start sharpening the legs ,since u ran 1:52 earlier cutting ur 400 back to :49 should get u into that 1:47-1:48 range, you’re more fit than before
I was thinking 53 and change, so great effort, particularly after 8 years being off. I didn't know if the 8 year old or the 80 year old would be your greatest competition!
My old high school track. Well kind of sort of. Back then it was a black dirt, cinder something track that was 440 yards not meters. No field turf infield either. Just grass which turned to mud by the end of the football season.
Always thought that Gtwn coaches took you away from the 800 too early. I remember you having fast 1K as a freshman and they seemed to move you more to the mile. Glad to see you getting back to running faster 800's as a prelude to advancing in the mile.
Not sure what your 200m split was, but it looked like you went out a little too aggressively. If you'd taken a little off early on you'd probably have been able to close faster and would have run under 52.0. I think you're definitely in around 51.5 shape right now.
I’m kind of amazed you lost three seconds since HS. I honestly think you could run 1:47 at least if you could run a 49 again. I mean that’s a HUGE difference.
Different point in training, he was a young guy hammering speed workouts and won his PR race by .1, in this 400 he had no one near and his training hasn't been as focused. I'm sure he'll be down to 49 speed sooner or later.
@@Cleps1119 obviously, but losing three seconds in a 400 no matter what point of training your in is never good for business or normal. Speed development work should be done year round, the frequency and intensity is the only thing that should change
@@seatownfan Good catch! I wondered why, on the final stretch, he darted out to lane three, kept looking back and talking, and looked like he could run another 600 meters.
Wait this is genuinely no hate to Spencer at all. But I thought distance runners usually peak a little later in their careers, how come Spencer was running faster in high school when he was still growing. Hope you shatter your pr in the 800, could be a massive pr this season don't limit that.
No peak 51.2 if trained for the 400 47 high. So 4 seconds over 400 faster or 8 in the 800 1:44 OMG Spence wtf are you doing? You need to get a 400 coach ASAP!
If you add 4-5 seconds to a 400m time that is you 800m pace if you have great aerobic strength. Spence ran a 52 so he fastest he could run an 800m right now is about 1:52. His mile pace is about 60-62, so he can run around 4:00-4:08. He needs to get faster or it’s impossible for his times to drop anymore. The good thing is building speed is the easy part. I feel like he could be a lot faster if he trained speed all year round. That sounds like a letsrun post 😐

First win of the season baby!
Great work Spencer. It’s so cool with Allie behind the lens commentating and supporting. Great that you showed the 800 results
Honestly the fact you ran 52 is a good thing. Shows you’re in really good shape. Get that down to 50.xx and I guarantee you’re in the 1:48 territory
It is a good thing, that's why Ari was excited
No way he’s running a pr 800m off of less speed.
52 is not very on track to run 1:50 let alone 1:48
You have the best cheerleader in Ally. Keep working hard. You have so many people that want you to be your best.

You should do surges in your track workouts and start incorporating 200-300’s for pure speed work. You got this !

Fun video. Good result. I’m excited for all your upcoming races. Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic! I agree with Ari, these results show a lot of upside potential.
Great to have coaches thoughts on the racing efforts . . . well done Spencer - keep it going!

Awesome job and congrats on the sponsor!
So weird seeing you race on a track I also race at as a highschooler haha. Good stuff!
Why is it weird seeing him race on a track? Spencer has been running track his whole life 😂

Ari is such a hype coach with that post race interview
I think it’s time to switch to longer distance racing
Hes more fit than when he ran 1:49 but that being said when he sharpens back into that 49 second shape he will pr on the 800

Great job Spencer nice shirt.
i ran 800/1500 for so long and i ran a 400 all out for fun last week. my 800 is 2:10.00 and my 400 was 53.75
Great video! I think you need a tank top that says run less, slam more tacos.
Made up that stagger real quick
00:07 Where can I buy this?
Man I wish I could get track meets like this as someone whose to old… near me you must do a distance race
Man was in the wrong heat
He ran so smooth when it was a longer race. If he can incorporate that while just moving the legs faster he’d be eating
spencer, the fact that you ran 3.04s slower per lap is madness
Takes time my friend. Nothing is lost...
dude we got Zack Munson in here
We need to race in the 400
I just graduated high school and Im trying to train for running in college in the fall. Any advice?

Who was the guy in the blue singlet? He looked like he could run sub 1:50.

Yessss!
I lost some money on this race. I put $100 that Lane 3 was going to get the W.
48 incomming! or 47?
HOOZE THE COACH KEITH OR ARI
Why was Spencer stuck in Lane 1? Definitely cost a few tenths. Plus if he had run with some competition he would have gone 51 high or better.
Clearly they stuck the big gun in Lane 3
Why was he in this heat? I saw someone ran a 48 in another heat at the same meet.
