Judy Gridley was your aunt? Then she would have known my friend Pamela Strong who played Fraulein Kost in the London production. I remember seeing your aunt in A Chorus Line at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. She was marvelous.
Sorry, I don't have the full programme, I just recorded the Cabaret rehearsal as I was particularly interested in that having seen Judi Dench in Cabaret in the original London production.
Judi to wspaniała i piękna aktorka, a teraz dowiedziałam się, że także wspaniale śpiewa. Ma wspaniały, nieco zachrypnięty, niski głos. Bardzo mi się podobała w roli Sally Bowles z "Kabaretu".
This is a clip taken from a recent BBC programme about Dame Judi Dench. It seemed appropriate to put up the clip of the rehearsals from the original London production of Cabaret as there is a new revival in the West End.
Just saw Michelle Williams on Broadway in the role and so had to try to recapture the original Sallie I had seen so long ago...London 1968. Cannot remember who played M.C.
Judy gets continued praise for this role after nearly 50 years. We found it very disappointing. Now with the electronic aids performers have it would be better. We were sitting at the rear of the circle and had to strain to hear her.
But it was performed at the Palace created by Richard D'Oyly Carte for his Gilbert and Sullivan operas. I've always found the acoustics - without mics - very good. Did the production not have directional mics on the stage as they did with the original West End production of The Sound of Music which opened at the same theatre in 1061?
If anyone cares to notice, Simon Callow is right on target in his comments about Judi Dench's performance in relation to Christopher Isherwood's Berlin Stories where the character originated.
That woman is sooo much more versatile than some may have thought! 👌🏼
Nice to see some footage of my Aunt (with the bob hair cut) dancing in this production. Sadly she passed away age 41.
Sucks man. How did she die though?
Yes - Judy Gridley. I was around in the West End then and remember her fondly. She was a sweetheart.

Why is there no film? I want a film.

That would've been the 2014 run with Alan Cummings as the emcee
