Eddie Redmayne is fabulous. He can play any role. I love him. A strange note...I saw him in his neighborhood outside a couple years ago during the Queens jubilee. The American High school students I was with happen to notice him and got a picture of him. But we didn't go up and talk to him. We wanted to be respectful because that was his place to chill without tourists bothering him.
usually celebs are ok as long as you know how to be respectful, don't get in their private space, treat them like a human, etc. the are human, fans kind of forget that. "Hello Mr Redmayne, we are high school students for the USA, do you have a moment? We just want to thank you for your performances" Most people like a pleasant greeting and the sound of their name, even celebrities. I'm not a celebrity but don't pass up an opportunity to chat with young people.
I was just at the last preview night Friday 4/19. This production is stunning. I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. The whole experience is amazing. I’ll never be the same. Bravo!
Jelly hater lol I wish I could see it.
I wish I could go see it. I'm unable. I hope there will be a complete stage production filmed like the Sam Mendes one. It's not the same as live but I just want to hear this cast sing.
I remember seeing the movie Cabaret in 1972 at the Co-op City theater. We thought, “musical, Liza Minnelli,” should be fun. I looked at all the shaken faces, including ours, afterwards. It was a story that really shook you up; and there are echos that are reoccurring right now.
they always come back
About 2 weeks ago, I was privileged to see this new production of "Cabaret". Eddie Redmayne, Gayle Rankin, and Bebe Weuwirth are spectacular, as are all the cast. I was drawn into the story immediately. So glad I attended this dynamic show.
Was this a preview performance?
I just attended the last preview on 4/19. Incredible.
I saw it May 1st and it was amazing and met Eddie after I saw the show at stage door he signed my playbill and took a selfie with me such a nice guy
Gayle's performance was great. She brought me to tears twice
She delivered a powerhouse performance and totally owned that roll the way she elegantly clomped around as the tragic character Sally Bowles.
I didn't get to see Eddie Redmayn, but his understudy Marty Lauter, did a fantastic job.
And the cherry on top is being graced with Bebe Neuwirth as Fraulein Shneider
One of the best Musicals ever!!❤
This production is truly spectacular and so deeply affecting
This performance was amazing. My husband took me for my birthday this weekend and I just fell in love with Eddie’s version of the emcee. The movie version has been my favorite musical since I was 18. Eddie brought out Joel Grey.
Eddie is so beautiful and talented. 💓
I simply *CAN’T WAIT* to see this production!
Thanks to CBS for showing us this clip! Theatre lovers (at least this one!) are panting to see this production! Break a leg, cast members!! (That's theatre talk for any theatre virgins out there.)
Cabaret is one of the greatest musicals ever written, and I look forward to seeing it! And as a NYC bartender, I have always loved when Mo Rocca came by my bar years ago, he was such a fun presence!
And Bebe Neuwirth too!
I saw it in June and Eddie and Gayle were excellent
I saw this production in London, it’s absolutely worth the ticket price. Beautiful, but also harrowing all at the same time (and the experience before the show is just amazing, definitely get to the theatre at least an hour before if you do decide to go to see everything!)
It will be truly great with a cast like that ! and the revamping with the idea before you get into the theatre is brilliant.
I was in the August Wilson theater to see funny girl and it was a normal theater orchestra, mezzanine but after the refurnish for Caberet, it’s unrecognizable and it’s so beautiful
Had no idea Eddie was doing this , super cool!!
I loved it, i wanna watch cabaret now. omg i love him
Thank you for sharing this. It lit my fire for the day. It‘s 06:06 am here, I am going to the office for the last time before having to find a new job. Life is a Cabaret my dear …
This really may have been the best show I've ever seen!
I am intrigued by this production, but feel it is so prophetic about our future, it will depress me even further, so I will probably stay away. On a happier note, the Liza clips reminded me once again of her magnificent performance in the movie.
Saw the show last. It was amazing.
I wish I could see this rendition of Cabaret.
I had performed in MANY productions of CABARET and always played the role of the Gorilla("If They Could See Her Through My Eyes")and loved it...such a great show! Break A Leg to the company of CABARET❤X
Great musical, but the horror isn't merely just outside the Cabaret door, it's inside also, on a smaller scale, but most definitely inside, and growing.
Zheir Are NO! troubles! Here!
Here, Life is BeaUtiful,
Zee Girls Are BeaUUUtiful,
Even Zee orkestra ees BeaUUUtiful!!!
Was there on the sixth loved every moment of it. Would have loved to get an autograph but wasn't able to. love the show
I live here. I have several huge drawers filled with Playbills over 30 years of seeing Broadway shows. You name the show, the actors and I've seen it and met them. I waited after the shows to meet the actors and get their signatures. What to do with the signed Playbills afterwards? They all just sit in the drawers take up space and will be trash one day when I'm gone. So think of that, it's fun to have them signed and meet the actors, but keeping all the Playbills even with the autographs is kind of silly, what to do with them all? It's like being a hoarder, lol!
@@jaym8094 You raise an interesting situation, one which I share with you (other types of ephemera). Please consider donating your collection to a library or other institution. I did a quick search and there seem to be options.
I've done this musical before and it's the best one I've ever been in
The changing of the entrance to transport the audience back in time is so cool
I saw it 04/09 and it was amazing!
Can’t wait to see what Adam Lambert does with the role come September.
God I wish I could see this live. Love Bebe Neuwirth.
Omg is that Marcia Marcia Marcia from Dragrace S15? 😱❤️
Sure is
Shows in the round are fantastic.
Timeless.....
Liza's shoes hard to fill but this looks like a great production. Eddie so versatile, and post-Trump America confronts these decadence issues all the time. Good luck 🎉❤
I don't detect much decadence myself. I do detect creeping authoritarianism.
@@CathyS_Bx Gave you a thumbs up for reference to authoritarianism, but also think we are facing a decadence issue.
Amazing production of Cabaret will be performed in MD in mid to late June at Montgomery College
I can’t wait to see this!!
I regret not seeing this when I was in NYC this past week. I was so close to buying a last minute ticket.
Liza 😢 hard not to think of this musical without her ❤❤❤❤
BRB…..getting tickets now!
진짜!! 천의 얼굴 이세요! 한국에서도 뵙는 기회가 있으셨으면 좋을것 같아요 🎉😊
Wow I’d love to see this ❤
In this day and times we as a society are soon to repeat its self about how human right to live with self respect can be taken so quickly and quietly. It is already happening and we had better wake up and smell the roses but they are crushed.
Everything old is new again. Just a different location and victims.😢
Wonderful ❤
Alan Cumminings is otherworldly in the role of the Emcee! I hope Eddie Redmayne has a wonderful time playing it, too!
I saw the London Production last year. It was fantastic although much "darker" than the movie
2 words....
Jane Horrocks. When you know, you know.😂❤
I don't know why but I waited my whole life from Colombia to see this
Wish they showed actual footage of the show. I get “secrecy” but give us something to entice us.
I love eddie redmayne.
I love Cabaret on every level. I hope Broadway does a revival of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui
I love it!
Wow they actually show clips of him in the show-- something that simply was not done in the London production. I that because he feels more comfortable now or because i America that secrecy simply would not be allowed?
Would love to see this production, but my God.....the tickets are stratospherically expensive.
Eddie in this role reminds me of a garden knome come to life
Love, ...lots of Great Entertainment 🎶👍🎶

Looks like time for a trip to New York
Theater in the round is not a new concept. Not that many years ago there were summer theater productions around the country of Broadway shows with the audience seated around the stage. Many famous and not so famous performers would "strut their stuff" in these intimate arenas. Happy memories.
Was that marcia marcia marcia?
Yes!
I look at the gains Reform UK had in the recent General Election. I think about some of the things their members and the people the put forward as candidates have said about refugees and the Queer Community and I think "Gosh, surely no one I know is buying into this hogwash. At least they're cutting the conservative vote up a bit." And then I sit down to dinner with my family for a birthday dinner and my Auntie says "I wish I could have voted for Nigel Farage." And then I see this Musical is making the rounds and I watch the Alan Cummings version and I think "This needs to be shown everywhere."
This Emcee better be blue to dance! I’m tired of these revivals that discard the power that dance adds to this show!
I played this role for 6 momtns in Ixtapa.............................................................................................................................................................................
❤❤❤❤
Seeing the film years ago was quite an experience. This new version looks interesting with the performers in the round but the costumes look very odd. In the movie Joel Grey as the MC in the film is appropriately wearing black tie, in this production, whoever designed the outfit for Mr. Redmayne should be fired.
Lotte to Bebe!
😂😂…What’s up with the interviewers hair?? Hilarious comb over!!😂Haha
Hey studs! 👍🐝🦷♥️👯♀️🏖️🐴⭐️💸🥯🧋📚
I'm tired of seeing the same people over and over again when there is probably so much talent out there
The costumes look nightmare-ish
Why change the name?
Because they've turned the theater into the Kit-Kat Club.
NOT AGAIN!! GEEZ!!!!
This production (and its predecessor in London) seem to have lost the plot of the story. This specific cabaret isn't a "place of hope" where people on the margins can express themselves. It's a seedy place where people can indulge in frivolous indulgence while ignoring the reality of what's happening outside. The denizens' hope wasn't "sabotaged"; it was a victim of their willful ignorance and self-absorbed lives.
I've talked with people who saw this staging in London. It seems to be less cautionary tale and more a mirror of the self-absorbed online world we inhabit but with little self awareness. From the numbers I've heard, the numbers are very shouty and , to my ear, inferior to productions from the past.
Mitchel Hill
Natasha Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 did the same thing with their nightclub staging nearly 10 years ago. Not exactly radical and revolutionary. Definitely suits Cabaret though.
someone finally said it omds!!!
@@tiggyjones8274 we can’t let people forget about great comet 😡
Eddie, maybe you could share how cabaret is a warning for your country who has imprisoned 3,000+ people over tweets and news stories, including Julian Assange?
2:36
The guy with white hair…is that wig?! It doesn’t look natural.
I have not heard them once mention anti semitism
Lets all ignore the hell the Wiemar government was !
Why isn't this man being given more weird roles??
Big fan of Cabaret. This, however, looks dreadful, with the exception of Bebe.
and you’re making this comment without seeing the show..
Those little hats have got to go. They distract.
????
Why is there a cow in the new production
Vote against the current would be dictator.
MARCIA^3 !?
Knowing how the Nazis were to people with disabilities I wonder if the theater is accessible
I considered booking this when it became available and did verify the availability of accessible seating, since that's what I would have been purchasing. The answer to your question is "yes" including the table seating in front. I ended up declining and so did not experience it, but have no reason to doubt what they were/are offering.
yuk
So it's Gayle Rankin vs. Nicole Scherzinger for the Tonys.
No. Scherzinger is not in competition this year. Rankin lost.
And here in the US it’s going to cost you a billion dollars.
So if you are poor….
Maybe you shouldn’t even watch this.
I’m so done with that guy stealing gay roles from gay actors. First the Danish Girl and now this. Big eye roll.
The emcee isn’t a gay role - it’s a role that supersedes gender and sexuality
"The Danish Girl" was about the first trans woman, not a gay man and the Emcee in "Cabaret" isn't gay, either.
@@courtneylingnofski575 yes it is. A flamboyant individual who is nonbinary and clearly has flare. It’s obvious you haven’t seen the film and are unaware of the history of this production on Broadway. Regardless of all of that my opinion still stands. I don’t like that this straight male is stealing roles for LGBTQ+ artist. You can be mediocre and support him. ✌🏽
@@dolleyes5062 I still don’t like him. And I still don’t like the fact that he is a straight man taking roles away from LGBTQ+ artists. ✌🏽
@@frankgenera2009the emcee is not a strictly gay role
It is simply dreadful. It is sad what they have done to this musical. And they don't lull you in, they beat you with a stick from the moment you past the door.
Hmm... I don't think they understand the meaning of the show and its portrayal of hedonism. Pure hedonism does not equal progress and while we are so focused on our own pleasure, we allow for something truly diabolical to take over in the meantime because of your own aversion to think or feel anything deeply in service of your own pleasure. That's just as much the message of the show.
This looks dreadful.
Terrible singer my Eddie
this version is like smelly old balls… watched it in london… it’s very artsy fartsy and that’s how it smells
Too decadent. The world that Cabaret represented invited repression.
Reviewed as "The Worst Broadway Show Ever"!!
Nothing and I mean NOTHING can EVER compare to the movie version of CABARET with Liza Minnelli and Joel Gray!!!!
I like the book of the stage version better. The staging of the dance production numbers by Fosse in the movie version are great though.
The movie version is terrible. Stage version is the superior version
