If you’re looking at individual defensive rating or any defensive stat for that matter, they’re either horrible or are heavily impacted by team defense. Steph has always had a solid core around him who play good defense, which is why he has a good individual defensive rating. Here are point guards who are significantly better defenders : Jrue Holiday, Marcus Smart, Alex Caruso, Lonzo Ball, Dejounte Murray, DLo, Fred VanVleet. I’m sure I could think of more of them, but that should be a suitable enough list. Curry is an average defender, but he doesn’t have to be good like those other guys, he just has to be good enough because his scoring is so elite.

The best case for IT is that he's the first small guy to lead his team to a championship in an era when you needed a dominant big man to win. He won 2 in an era when guys like Kareem, mchale, parish, and Malone were winning chips. The pistons were stacked with talent but Bill laimbeer is not on that level 💀 in this era it's much easier to win without a dominant big man. But the pistons remind me a lot of the KD warriors. Curry and IT were both great PGs, although IT was a much better facilitator. Dumars and Klay are both great 2 way players. Dantley/Aguirre and KD are great efficient scorers. Draymond and Rodman are very comparable. And laimbeer and Zaza basically played the same role of trying to injure guys 😂

He did win near the end of that era, but the paradigm for winning a championship was still very much the same. People say Jordan changed the paradigm for winning chips, and I agree with that, but I think the Pistons are the ones who kickstarted that. I’m not sure if I would take IT over Curry or vice versa, but if I had to make a case for IT, I think this would be the best one.

Iverson wasn’t the type of defender that Gary Payton was but he was like a free safety or like a young prime time the way he played the passing lanes. He would pick off multiple steals every game! He was also the greatest finisher at the rim that I’ve ever seen. It didn’t matter who was behind him ready to swat his shot, it was getting in the bucket. Curry is a far better shooter and his handle is even more crisp but curry could never carry a squad of nobodies to the promise land like Moses. AI did that in a era that allowed hand checking and he got his ass broken up every time he went in the lane in the championship year. Every team we faced spilt iversons blood and he relentlessly continued going into the land of giants and collecting free throws.
