This channel is criminally under exposed. I only discovered it recently but its amazing how much I've already learned and been inspired by. I'm looking forward to more videos about map making and I'm now going to try and find the one for the world map.

A nice little tip for ground textures is to play around with rotation of the textures before putting them down. It makes the pattern blend into itself much better and makes the seams less noticeable.

oh shit that's a pro tip! Never thought about that. Thank you!

This is a fantastic tutorial for new world builders. I love the way you integrated economy and security into the development of the town. I've been doing that for years. I actually take the time to write a short story and build the town/city around that.

Ooo making a short story is a great idea. Thanks for the love :D

I would love future stuff like this. Maybe having several videos of how a town turns into a full city and the why of different locations

Inkarnate is super awesome. Just completed a whole region with 5 towns, forests, dragonborn stronghold, lich lair, dragon lair, underwater city and many other things. Super cool program. Really like the video, Forge. Good job!

aw shucks, thank you! Inkarnate is awesome. Did you use the paid version?

      @michaelowens4507 3 месяца назад

@@TheFantasyForge Yes I did. It had some stamps that I really needed for the lich lair and dragonborn stronghold. But mostly I just used the the core stuff, which really speaks to how much you can do with it.

@@michaelowens4507 honestly though, it's a great tool. *please sponsor me Inkarnate*

This is super useful. I tried inkcarnate once, and I got lost immediately. I might try it again with your video as a guide.

I'm lucky that I grew up using photoshop so for me it was kind of second nature to work with layers once I learned the buttons, but definitely confusing

Love this. I actually did some town-building with this video running along-side/in the background.
As for a town name, why not name it after the Inn, since thats what started this whole town? Call it... Hilltop. :)

Hey that's awesome! Glad to be some ambience for your world building haha

    Awesome stuff man.
I love the way you go into worldbuilding history, thinking about the town would have evolved.
I could easily see that being a popular little mini series .. where you draw a type of "Iconic Location" explaining along the way why it would make sense that such and such is there.. instead of just what looks good..
    EDIT:
I just checked Inkarnate, I think the "watercolor cities" stamps you use are pro now.. at least I cannot access them with the free version

Amberhill sprung to mind for this little town. Influenced by the amber gathering industry and the hill everything is centered around, it could also be because the homes that sit in the "old town" area on the hill are all painted with a golden hue.
