This song is about a soldier who has been deadly wounded during the war and is laying underneath a tree. A Raven (which is considered as a magical animal back then) is flying above the cossack and he is asking the Raven to spread the word of his death to his wife, his father and others. He wants his wife to know that he is freeing her so she can marry another man and that he is about to 'marry' his new bride (the death). Thats roughly the story about this song, you need to lookup the entire song, I am not from Russia, but thats what I got from other reactions.
Have seen this video so many times and it always gives me goosbumps.
