@@roxannelee3104 I am so glad it helped!
I live in West Jordan and looking to plant blackberries. Triple crown is what I was thinking and thankful yours confirms. Youve helped me with ideas on grapes too!
I am so glad! I think you will love them.
Very interesting selection! I've seen a few of these in gardening books and wondered how they actually taste, thanks!
Thank you for watching and commenting!
My goumi and josta berries were planted 6 years ago. Never flowered. The josta is healthy with vibrantly green foliage. The goumi suffers from chlorosis that's improving with two applications of chelated iron and vinegar. They're on the east side of the house shielded from afternoon sun. Not sure if the limited light or late frost or hail is the main reason they've not fruited. Or they simply need a few years to get ready.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I recently heard that it takes several years for Jostaberries to fruit. I am wondering if they are worth the wait!
I am glad the iron chelate seems to be helping your goumi berry. It will be interesting to see how they do as more people start growing them! Please post updates!
Service berry tree, where can I purchase a plant?
@roxannelee3104 A lot of Utah nurseries are starting to carry them now. Call the nursery you use the most and see if they carry them and what time of year they are available. If they don't carry them ask them to start!
Did you find your honeyberries at a local nursery? I am in the salt lake valley and I bought one honeyberry a couple years ago but now I'm struggling to find a second. The one I have is doing fairly well planted in full sun and without any significant fertilizer. I did get three delicious berries this year. 😂
I am so glad you got a berry! I purchased mine online from several sources. I have seen them at several local nurseries, but they only seem to be available in the spring. I am assuming they quickly sell out of them.
My gooseberries were planted on the north side of my house. They still grow like crazy! One of these days we will figure out a way that we like to use them.
What variety do you have?
@@gardenwiseadventures I have no idea. They were planted by the previous owner. Green berry, huge thorns, lobed leaves lol
What's the difference between a gooseberry and a wild grape?? Wow, I can't believe you have all those grapes!
The main difference is that a gooseberry is not a vine. The fruits on a gooseberry are also a little more tart than grapes. Gooseberries have thorns and need more shade than grapes. Those are a few of the differences off the top of my head. Hopefully, this answered your question!
