Saying the Dodgers trading for Crochet is a waste of prospects is absolutely asinine. Crochet is a cy young level talent still under Arb control. Everyone should be in on him. Dodgers only have 3 healthy SPs under contract and they’re going to a 6 man spot
This guy is a$$, I replied as well why LA makes the most sense. Plus we have already been trading partners with them last season so obviously there is some relationship with the Sox
Some comments about the red sox trade: 1. Just in case you continue to use him in trade proposals etc. Wilyer’s name is pronounced like Will•yur. 2. His value is pretty high because he’s gold glove level defense in arguably MLBs hardest RF, and he’s already a great bat against RHP, LHP is a work in progress. If it weren’t for a few random injuries this year he probably would’ve finished above .800 OPS and had ~25 HRs
I think Dodgers get Roki, Crochet and maybe Kim at SS. Those 4 would be hard to give up but I’d pull the trigger on it. Maybe swsp out De Paula for Vargas because the system is light on SS and giving up Freeland would deplete it even more. Great episode
Hey Jim about the Dodgers, here's why they DO need another starter and, mainly a LHP: 1. They need a 6 man rotation. 2. All of their starters will need to be closely supervised in their pitch counts, some because are coming from surgeries and others because their max innings pitched are from 120-150. 3. They don't have any LH starter and only 2 lefties as relievers. 4. They really need a roster crunch, the 40 man is full and the farm system is clogged, so the only waste of prospect capital is to let it age in the minors. Now, obviously, if they get Roki and Fried the trades to crunh the roster will be needed in other positions which, unless for K. Tucker, that would, INDEED, be a prospect capital waste
Gilbert didn’t have a down year at all. He was hurt for most of it, and when he came back, he was tearing the cover off the ball. Had he not been hurt, he would have already been up. He likely makes the team out of spring training.
Feel the Braves would add Ynoa, Anderson, Elder or AJSS in the package to build it up more… not sure it’s enough for WSox but that’s my add on to the overall trade
One thing you failed to either recognize or simply connect to...is the fact that the Mets actually have too many prospects that will be blocked in their organization if they don't trade them. They're actually moving prospects to different positions to address that problem. I would expect that Stearns.... their GM ....is going to try to make some moves in the trade market this winter and i would be shocked if they don't ship off some top prospects.
I can promise you Wilyer Abreu has a much better value than Spencer Jones. Could and should've easily been top 3 in RoY voting. I can see the some throwing in a odd ball pitcher with control to strength the package.
As I say with every comment, I'm a Dodgers fan. I don't want the Dodgers to trade for Crochet. I think there is a high possibility that he is a flash-in-the-pan pitcher. I didn't want them to even talk to the White Sox about him at the trade deadline . Then he came out with the "I need an extension to pitch in the playofs" junk and I knew he couldn't be a Dodger.
I'm a White Sox fan and I really only want to hear from the Orioles a Red Sox. I think you are correct Jim, the Red Sox end up getting him in the end. After the Dodgers hosed us with Miguel Vargas in the Fedde deal (I blame Getz for that) I think the Dodgers need to be avoided. I don't really like any on the other teams farm systems that much so O's and Bosox it is!
Wilyer at 30 value is fine especially is Spencer jones is at 33 I’d much rather have 5 years of Around an 800 ops bat and gold glove defense than 6 years of hoping jones might be half good
White sox fan here! And I have to say you are smoking some good shit! I don't see any of those packages getting the deal done. Getz wants a premium player. And I have to say if Baltimore had half a brain. They would be all in
None of these deals are close to what it will take to land Crochet… Mets prospect Drew Gilbert didn’t have a down year this past year he was hurt and barely played as was the case for Jett Williams but both are impressive top 50 prospects.

As a Dodgers Fan I disagree we need more pitching and we have too many players clogging the 40-man roster. Dodgers need to make a trade. As Brandon Gomes stated "We went into last season with 12 pitchers, and that wasn't enough". Yamamoto is the only starter that isn't on the IL or has a question mark right now. Glasnow (IL), Ohtani (IL), Kershaw (IL), Gonsolin (IL), May (IL), Roki (FA will start in minors). The Dodgers need 5-6 healthy starters, sure things to start the season, and then push everyone else to IL and the minors (if they have options) for depth. I want this: 1. Yoshinobu Yamamoto 2. Blake Snell (FA) or Max Fried (FA) 3. Tyler Glasnow (IL) (hope he is healthy) 4. Garrett Crochet 5. Jack Flaherty (FA) 6. Walker Buehler (FA)
It’s ridiculous to think the Dodgers can have all of the following: 1. Fried or Snell 2. Trade for Crotchet 3. Keep Bueller 4. Keep Flaherty 3 out of the 4 above would be fantastic plus sign Sasaki. I’m only counting on 2 for the above. Sign Fried or trade for Crotchet and re-sign Bueller. The Dodgers don’t need 6 starters in post season. It’s more like 4 or 5 depending on how many games a series goes. The top 4 for post season would be Fried or Crotchet, Glasnow, Yamamoto, and Bueller. A 5th guy can be anybody from Gonsolin, Kershaw, Knack, Miller, Sheehan, Wrobleski, Hurt, Frasso, or Sasaki. And out of all the above, the Dodgers should have 5 healthy starters at different times all regular season plus Ohtani as a wild card 6th rotation guy. Dustin May moves to the bullpen.
@@MrJoker830 Ohtani is not starting the season pitching. Buehler is not chasing a bag. There is no proof of that. Dodgers need to avert risk by spending money.

If someone is going to offer somewhere close to 20 million, you best believe Bruhler is going to take it. The didgers won't offer more than 12-13 mil and he can do better just based on post season run
Dodgers make the most sense. They have the prospects to make it happen and free up free agent money. They almost didn't win the WS due to a lack of pitching when it mattered most. Staff has tons of questions and mgmt has said they want to go to a 6 man rotation. Can't assume Shohei will pick up where he left off on the mound. Yamamoto and Glasnow missed significant time last season and Buhler may not be back. Kersh will be brought back very slowly, my guess is after the All-star break
