And there it is, the first of a few camps over these winter months done and dusted. The views of the snow-capped mountains surrounding you were fantastic, but watching you out in the cold made me happy to be in my warm home and more than happy to leave that type of camp to you. Great news about Victoria’s pregnancy and congratulations on the upcoming birth of your daughter mate. Oh man, I can tell you from experience that there is nothing like a Princess who will wrap you around her little finger. Cherish every moment because the years pass much more quickly than we realise. Great video...simple...raw nature, basic comforts in a winter setting (shelter, food, heat, hot drinks, etc.). I like a person who absolutely enjoys their food, and you can see how appreciative you are of it. Food is a powerful thing. And that shot of the mountains in the moonlight at about 16:20...wow, what a great atmosphere...absolutely worth it. Congrats all around...
Abel, what a memorable video. You are one bad dude. Climbing a freaking mountain and putting up a tent in a snow storm with a hangover. Now that’s another level. No heat, no fire, a totally different venue. That sleeping bag and tent are simply fantastic. Food looked incredible. Wagu steak looked good and I love the look of your pancakes. It’s a bit darker outside between 12.30 am and 2.00 am then sunrise again, where I live in Norway. Good weather. Camping in the snow is my absolute favorite!Always fun watching winter camps in the southern hemisphere while we head into summer here. Already looking forward to summer being over though 😂. I love my Staika tent. It has endured severe storms, including hail, snow, downpours, etc. When I purchased it new, it was $600.00 in the mid-90s. I looked at its current price and it is more than $1300 USD. My tent has no tears and I have maintained the zippers and have none replaced. It is one strong and stable tent. This is another great adventure and the video is excellent. So, since it was raining at my location, I thought some hot chocolate and chilli sounded good to me while you were in the cold and blizzard conditions.

I’m a new subscriber and have watched about 20 of your videos and have really enjoyed them all, but I must say the first few I saw all I thought you ate were hot dogs 😂. I love camping in the winter or some extreme conditions it’s so much fun and relaxing. One thing I had never seen was the cup filters you make coffee with, I did buy some to try them out and I must say they make a better cup of coffee than the pour over or percolator. Looking forward to the next video.

Well. Don't now what to tell exactly but a big shout out from the other side of the planet. I have stumbled upon several other channels here from all over the world doing camping in the wilderness and this is what i envy you for: your easy access to wilderness. At least here in germany this would we not allowed...

After spending a couple of days camping in the mountains, I've come to appreciate the little things in life even more. This video perfectly captures the rugged beauty of the outdoors.
I love watching campers do this kind of content! Nothing beats freezing your rear end off only to be rewarded with your own cozy shelter at the end. Just be wary of super strong winds in the mountains, especially when you're exposed to the elements like that. But your kit seems to resemble a lot of what other campers do in the same situation, so good on you for that.
These comments some of them, you’re one of the safest wild campers on YT 😂. Thanks for another lovely video the occasional on top of the mountains is a nice change but boy do we miss the weckers! Congratulations on being a dad-girl!
Surprised I haven't seen more NZ camping channels. The beauty of the NZ landscape is insane, one of those things where you just have to be there to see it - but it still makes for a good video.
This is much more the tramping style of camp that I'm used to. I find it very interesting to see how modern equipment really works in these conditions. Yes to trying out different tents and equipment - always intriguing. The Zen Biv for example is something I once contemplated trying to DIY something similar - so seeing a fully sorted product in action is really good. And congrats on the first child - a whole new adventure in your future. FWIW my wife and I did manage a number of multiday tramps in the North Is (mainly around Te Urewera) with our first baby. The longest was 5 nights. It can be done - although it was a humungous pack I was carrying.
1400m camp! Enjoyed watching very much. Fantastic footage Abel, gear held up well, thought you were quite restrained at dinner time, usually it's multiple hamburgers... alpine-man portions. Do like the campfire footage, a welcoming cosy feel.

Great video. Interesting how different it is to watch than being in that environment overnight. I think I enjoy going a few times per year to enjoy watching a trip like this from home most of the time and plan for next time and how Ill improve things.

Yeah the stika is a beast this is like a tuned down version being a red label and some slight adjustments to the design.

Surprised I haven't seen more NZ camping channels. The beauty of the NZ landscape is insane, one of those things where you just have to be there to see it - but it still makes for a good video.
This is much more the tramping style of camp that I'm used to. I find it very interesting to see how modern equipment really works in these conditions.
Yes to trying out different tents and equipment - always intriguing. The Zen Biv for example is something I once contemplated trying to DIY something similar - so seeing a fully sorted product in action is really good.
And congrats on the first child - a whole new adventure in your future. FWIW my wife and I did manage a number of multiday tramps in the North Is (mainly around Te Urewera) with our first baby. The longest was 5 nights. It can be done - although it was a humungous pack I was carrying.
1400m camp! Enjoyed watching very much. Fantastic footage Abel, gear held up well, thought you were quite restrained at dinner time, usually it's multiple hamburgers... alpine-man portions. Do like the campfire footage, a welcoming cosy feel.
Something a bit different. Bags packed with 6 pack of hot dog so don’t worry I’ll be indulging shortly

Great video. Interesting how different it is to watch than being in that environment overnight. I think I enjoy going a few times per year to enjoy watching a trip like this from home most of the time and plan for next time and how Ill improve things.

Lol great camp. So the ups....great views, your butter didn't disappear this time, again great food, and a great tent and sleep system, and no wekas to bother you and steal food. Downs....you broke something on your camera again, no fire , no chair, and I kinda like having a tarp for porch cover. Give Victoria love from us over here in the US.
