I never gotten an official diagnosis because South Florida in the 1980s and 90s were still backwards when it came to any diagnosis so they just assume Intellectual Disabilities... of course, back then they used the term mental Retardation. 😞🤷 So many mislabels meant I never got the proper treatments. Thank God my mom was hardcore and did what she could do. Individuals with the labels I had been given never get out of the oppressive system. My mom was a big anti-institution advocate as well. So many were trying to convince her to disable me to receive benefits and place me in institutions to get even more money out of my disability. My mom was like F^

Almost all of the people have the nastiest carpet texture and I’m supposed to sleep with nothing between me and the floor? Nah.

Oh my gosh- if you can, find and read my comment I just made about this, I think we’re experiencing the same thing! But to sum it up in case it got buried, I was talking about how I think I got overstimulated by the speed of the video. I love waiting, have tons of patience, and procrastinate chronically and severely (I mean seriously, it’s 5 am for me rn. I have not slept). Try slowing it down to 0.5 speed! I did that and instantly calmed down, plus the speed felt normal to me. Maybe we just run slower than the world?

As I got older and all of the kids around me were getting braces to straighten their teeth, and my family couldn't afford them for me, I stopped showing teeth in pictures altogether. Also both my psychiatrist and therapist agree that I'm autistic, but unfortunately they can't diagnose me. I have to get a diagnosis from a PCP, and mine doesn't listen to me so I'm basically shit out of luck 🙃 There are so many symptoms on here that I have and that people around me just think are my "little quirks" - like, naw my dude.

the instruments flow freely from theremin to piano, chords, drums, the autotune knob, lyrics, etc.. and the combination of them too, bc 2 hands(it's as frustrating as it's challenging, like learning to play guitar while singing at the same time)
it's what I imagine knowing how to dance must feel like, if applied to your whole body
if you close your eyes you can feel all the colors and dimensions of the different sound layers and it's hypnotic.
btw it ups dopamine, serotonin, endocannabinoids and possibly melatonin(5-MeO-dimethyltryptamine-Acetyl...-tonin(?) ) levels.
definitely boosts up your mood by a LOT.

Autism doesn’t change anything in humanity, the same as anxiety or other things. I’m not saying they’re the same or overlooking other things, but people treat them so differently- it’s not okay.

This is incredibly frustrating. My older sister bullied me for obviously autistic traits for my entire life. Then, one day, she shows up to a family event saying "guys we're literally all autistic. It's genetic." Then I started talking about my experience figuring out I'm autistic and saying all the things that I realized were just me being autistic. Then, she says, "you're probably the only one of us who isn't autistic" when I had it the worst out of all of us. I had all kinds of sensory issues, I got made fun of for my special interest, etc. Funny thing is, the siblings she was talking about later got tested, and none of them ended up being autistic. I got tested, and I got diagnosed. She still doesn't believe me.

I made a huge snowball at recess once in 7th grade. Then the 9th graders came an kicked it to bits. I ran crying to the teachers like my best friend was being beaten up. But I got told it's my fault for doing dumb childish stuff in the first place. So I just had to stand there and watch. Bawling as everyone either cringed or laughed at me.

You can still be autistic even if you don't have a diagnosis. Lots of people go undiagnosed (especially women and AFAB people). If you mainly relate to the sensory ones I recommend doing research into sensory processing disorder.

@@-jinxxx oh hun, I’ve been right where you are. Just do your own research and figure it out for yourself; most professionals nowadays aren’t too reliable on autism anyways. There’s no need to tell your parents until you’re ready, if you ever are. And there’s definitely no need to ever get a diagnosis. I am extremely lucky to have just gotten my diagnosis, but I went in already knowing I would get it thanks to my own research. I only got mine because I have parents wealthy and supportive enough to help me get it. (And by the way, at least 75% of the “test” was self-report anyways. My self-testing and diagnosis is probably what got me the formal diagnosis.) So never think you need someone with a degree to tell you you’re valid hun. You’re the only one who can truly know that. Love you, and good luck on your journey

She still gets so mad when we are arguing (I always think that it is pretty civil and polite even though i am angry) and then she says “dont talk to me in that tone” and i am always like, “ what tone?! I thought we were being civil!” And apparently i have been talking in a bad “tone” the whole convo and that is the main reason why she gets so mad at me.

    • @Gillibean726

Yes! That’s my exact problem. Like my parents are so clearly autistic my friends can see it. And then my mom says something along the lines of “you’re just weird” or “oh yeah my brother does that, it’s normal” whenever I bring up sensory issues, weird obsessions, etc. The worst is when she hits me with her and my dads friends, like hmm maybe your friends have those issues too because they are autistic too. I mean both of my parents felt completely out of place until they went to science fiction conventions and the SCA (think renaissance festival but no fairytale things) I am talking about classic 80’s and 90’s sci fi con. You think that’s a coincidence? No, they literally could not watch the Big Bang theory because it reminded them too much of some people they are friends with. I love my mom with all my heart but sincerely I don’t think she understands how much it hurts when she says things like that, claims im putting myself in a box and that I don’t have it. All because she has seen the most extreme cases. I find it entirely insane considering how supportive she was with my anxiety, despression, adhd, cyclic vomiting syndrome diagnosis’ and even coming out as bisexual after I was engaged to my now husband. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
