Up until recently, I didn't know much about Supertramp except their radio hits. I HAVE listened to Breakfast In America cover to cover,. Got some great stuff on there as well. Thanks, guys.
I believe he was talking about Rumors from Fleetwood Mac. Not so much a band break-up but, several in the band. I also believe I remember the comment about thinking they would be country sounding from the name. I have always enjoyed this song, and band, for that matter.
I think Crime of the Century (with School and Blood Well Right and some other great songs) was the best album by Supertramp. I had to refresh my vinyl album of this record a few times before I had a chance to get the cd (hmm hope that did not give away my age).
I am getting the sense that JD really likes old keyboard technologies based on several videos he has commented on. This is a good song with a nice keyboard sound. Because I can't resist recommending a Rush song, the one with a piano-like keyboard dominating (I use that term loosely with regards to piano and Rush) it is Second Nature. (But I must sheepishly admit I think I already mentioned that song in a previous comment on another video for different reasons.) I think Dave will like the various instrument sounds and have a challenge with the lyrics.
The band that came to mind when Dave was commenting about break-up and biggest album is Boston, but I don't recall their specific history...continue to love Dave's reactions to great music selected by John. He has a very similar taste in music...
Ya know, I'd forgotten how really good this song was, when it's on an album with Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, Breakfast In America, just......
@@LiteralistReactions If you feel like pranking Literalist Dave, I would say "China Cat Sunflower", but I would suggest something along the lines of "Box of Rain" or "Ripple" for something more accessible that never got much airplay and he probably hasn't heard. As for the B-52's, I was introduced to them with "Roam", and I've gotten a ton of mileage out of the song as my 3-year old grandson absolutely loves the video for it. Of course there's no real mystery meaning behind the lyrics.
John Doh here... I was thinking maybe The Eagles because of his "thought they were country" statement, but The Eagles didn't come back and make a great album of new material, though they DID get back together and make a pretty decent LIVE album of their great music... I guess that counts for Dave.
Yeah it wasn't new material. But everything else fit. They could be mistaken in a few songs for country. They did hate each other guts when they broke up . And named the album when they came back when Hell freezes over. Bcuz they said that would be when they got back together and make an album..
I can't believe how much Dave looks and sounds like a guy I use to work with. Even his mannerisms are similar. Were your parents ever in Canada??? Love the reactions. Waiting patiently for 2112. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦🍻🍻🍻🍻👍👍
I love supertramp. i should have dug into your old videos much sooner lol. lots of love guys

You have a new fan. I love Supertramp and I love your analysis.
Welcome!

exactly...
Damn, you're basically reviewing the soundtrack to my teen/early adult years. Add a little Grateful Dead and some B-52's.......
I added those bands in general, but for the vote count, can you name particular songs?

Great band... I hope you do The Logical Song but there are so many more good ones.
Great one, guys. This is my favorite YT channel
Thanks so much, Cygnus! Means a lot!
Agreed!
Ya'll thinking bout The Eagles
You must've been thinking bout the eagles.

John Doh here... to my knowledge Dave never lived in Canada but maybe he's hiding something?
