    Just watched ‘Big Boys Don’t Cry’ and the psychological and emotional trauma you endured is horrific. I don’t think anyone can relate to something like this unless you’ve walked in those shoes. So glad that you have found the strength and happiness to build the life you deserve

    I've never seen this movie but I read Paul's book. I feel his pain. It was the first time I ever howled and cried while reading a book. That first night in the home when the boys were all nervous and looking out the window and he's wondering what's going on, then someone yelled "they're coming" and all hell broke loose. Love to Paul.

    After watching your film, you have inspired me! I was physically and mentally abused by my mother for years. This ruined my trust and love for others! I'm still trying to forgive even now she has passed! It is so wonderful that you found love and yourself! You truly are an inspiration! Blessings ❤

      Paul is that really you? I'm half way through "Against all odds" and it just breaking my heart. All those children living in hell throughout their childhood including yourself. I've been through quite few books like this one and it seem to be quite common practice in those children's homes. It's a disgrace! Anyways Im so so sooooo happy you did so well for yourself and turned out such a lovely successful man. I think you deserve the best and hope you are the happiest you can be. I really wish you well. Xx

    Just watched big boys don’t cry.
    I cried, it was heart breaking. I admire Paul so so much, what a brave young man he was. I am so happy for him, being able to build himself into the strong, inspirational man he has become.
    That never should have happened to Paul or any child, no words can describe these horrible, evil people.
    But to know how Paul has become such a strong, inspirational man, reassures me that these men did not get the pleasure of destroying him. He has had the strength to survive and have a beautiful family.
    Paul Connolly is an absolute inspiration, I admire him and wish him all the luck in the world.

    I watched big boys don’t cry last night I’m so glad Paul went on to be an inspiration to many many others and is still around to raise awareness and tell his story & the story of his dorm mates who are no longer with us. I will never understand how anyone could hurt a child. You are a credit to yourself Paul connelly and worth so much more then you ever realised 👏🏽

    So so common. I too ultimately learnt that murdering my abusers wouldnt fix anything at all. I spent years being angry and destroying myself and evrything around me. I found Jesus and with his grace I forgive them - and this is enough as they will be judged in due course by Jesus Christ himself. When they are cast down to the pits I will be stood beside Christ in his light seeing the devil's reaping the evil they planted

    Hello Paul
    You are a remarkable man who has lived a hell on earth. I can fully understand why you planned to kill those evil monsters who treated you so terribly and what courage it took for you not to. I am so glad that you have survived and that you have a family of your own now. Your courage speaking out has surely been a lifeline for many. Thank you for telling your story,
    All the very best

    Amazing story. I just watched the film Big Boys Don’t Cry so I wanted to know more and I am happy to have learned more about Paul Connolly.
    I didn’t appreciate the end there about what you’d say to someone thinking of suicide. Having experienced far too many who didn’t make it, and chose to end their lives, self pity isn’t what it’s about. Suicide usually comes from self loathing which is very different.
    But I do appreciate the rest.
    Amazing story amazing man. And amazing wife Jo and (probably by now near adult) children.

    I was in LBTH care as a child, we use to go to St Leonard's swimming. Years later my sister in law got a knock on the door from the police asking if she'd ever seen anything. We got a few of the staff come over to our home when St Leonard's shut down. How sad, a lot of the kids r on drugs or dead.

    Psalm 139 came alive in you, Paul: "...For you formed my inward parts;
    you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
    14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.[a]
    Wonderful are your works;
    my soul knows it very well.
    15 My frame was not hidden from you,
    when I was being made in secret,
    intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
    16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
    in your book were written, every one of them,
    the days that were formed for me,
    when as yet there was none of them.
    17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
    18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
    I awake, and I am still with you.
    19 Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God!
    O men of blood, depart from me!
    20 They speak against you with malicious intent;
    your enemies take your name in vain..." PSALM 139

      @@lynncoffey529 In Hornchurch (just along from the old bus station), but apparently run by Tower Hamlets (according to some news & blog articles). I went to a primary school nearby, but as children we had no idea about the level of abuse at St Leonards. Adults at the time just moved any conversation along, a bit like the goings-on at my primary school.

    such a beautiful man... we all are products of our youth, its what we do with it at the long run...you did right, turned around, look ahead....at all time...i would kill them...or want too...we all are murderers when we receive that amount of hate.. it takes a connection with our creator to become above that...if you dont believe, believe there is a reason you are a survivor!!!!!! children are our joy...never destroy
