It's honestly no better than the old games. I have a 33 streak with chansey. Excellent throws of about like 25 or so. Fleeing pokemon existed back in Pokemon Gold. It happened; and more often than not, you wouldn't be able to catch them unless you got them to a 1% HP threshold. And oops, you overshot. Repeat looking for a random wild encounter (which in this game is less annoying).

However, I wish Nintendo would stop forcing their motion controls into everything they can because they can. I play exclusively in handheld mode because I personally dislike the motion controls so much. Also, it’s another game that they aren’t supporting their Pro Controller for. C’mon Nintendo.
I lost a chain of 62 Ponyta when one of them I was trying to catch ran away, very frustrating and this has happened to me 4 times now. I'm beginning to think Shiny hunting in this game isn't worth it anymore tbh.
Fun little extra! Have one or two level 100s in your party in the top two slows and the chansey will have a green ring around it - guarantee first throw everytime. I had a combo of 65 Chansey yesterday, all with green rings and the first throw as a combo point! Levelled up about 8 low level pokemon to between 80 and 100 in doing that XD Also you quickly get to 999 health candies by catching chansey. My pokemon all have stupid health levels for what they are XD
Rhydon gives you a lot of experience as well, is ubiquitous in Cerulean cave, and doesn’t hop to the side. So easy to get a long chain. Also, you didn’t mention that the Pokémon gets easier to catch, the more you catch of that species (and that’s regardless of whether you keep the combo going or not). I got a 100+ Rhydon combo and was pulling 36k experience on certain catches.
It just sucks trying to catch it, finally getting it perfectly and then it breaks out of the ball again and again, runs away and the chain ends, nothing gained. If you have bad luck it only leads to frustration lol.
So true, it always breaks no matter what kind of throw i make, and before i even click run away the chansey goes away first! How?! I made so many chansey chains but it breaks so easily

Another thing to note, catching the same pokemon will gradually make the pokemon easier to get, so farming chanseys will eventually make it guaranteed to catch with specific balls

Your also neglecting the fact during your run around, you should always try to click on the sparkled spots for items, even tho they respawn every few hundred steps or so, tho you can get TONS of great stuff, even the very rare chance of Master Balls or fossils. Edit: Edited due to everyone not reliseing that this was posted several days ago when the information was just starting to pile up.
It is based on steps. I tested it, and you can stand in one spot forever and they won't respawn. Run outside for a minute, and you can find items in the same spots again! Give it a try, it works!
Great help. Even though I got distracted and didn't keep the best combo this helped a ton. I was trying to complete the pokedex and this made it so much easier. I only caught maybe 20 chansey and all atleast 6 pokemon went up atleast 16 levels.
Tip: to try and get the first throw bonus, use a golden Razz or Nanab berry. That way way it’s easier to catch and there’s more of a chansey (pun intended) of you catching chansey on the first throw.
Pro tip: you don't really need lures. I've been doing this for the past hour without lures and I'm still seeing Chanseys spawning frequently on that second floor of Cerulean Cave
Pro pro tip: use a lure for the first 31. After 31 your chance to find Chansey is increased so much that yeah, a lure can be overkill. You don’t need it after that but it helps you start a chain.
The first chansey I caught in this cave gave me 30k xp, I had a full team of low lvl pokemon that I needed to evolve for pokedex, took me close to 10 minutes to skip through all the pop ups of level ups and learning new moves. I had 5 pokemon evolve from this one catch.
Poliwags in route 23 might be faster, or at least more cost effective. They give around 700-1100 exp and on the upper end of 7k. They are a guarantee catch with a 100$ pokeball
Something else to add: once you chain enough of a single Pokemon, the ring will change colors to an easier one. I've been able to get Chansey down to a green ring when chaining them.
Found this video six days ago and started this method. 100+ Chanseys and a 51-combo later I finally leveled my team up enough to wear down Mewtwo. Got 32,000 EXP from one catch. Bless you.
If doing this in Cerulean Cave for the famous two Persian elite four method, keep one of your Persians as a Meowth and out of the Pokèball. Trust me, on the special glittery spots sometimes they will dig up a pearl or stardust.
Excellent = 2x First Throw = 1.5x Synchro = 2x Combo (41+) = 3x Size (L/S) = 1.5x ; (XL, XS) = 4x (no visual difference in overworld) In total, thats 72x bonus multiplier, and that should give around 80k xp.
@@miri669 That's great and all, but _achieving_ all of that at once is almost impossible the majority of the time. And even if you do, Chansey will break free most likely and the game doesn't have any factor that makes the circle get any easier over consistently catching the same Pokémon several times.
i love this method!! started today! in under 3 hours . . these guys went up . . vulpix level 18 to 62 . . gyardos 44 to 72 . . .zard 53 to 71 . .. saur 53 to 70. . .pikachu 50 to 69. .snorlax 34 to 64!!! scyther 13 to 63!!!! and others now im on a 34 chain cuz chansey ran after my 22 chain ! if i come across a shiny im catchin it tho idc lol. . . i love this method!!!!!!

If chansey does an attack different from her punch it means she is about to run. Sometimes it doesn't show up but almost every time she does it right before running. Also I think after a chain of 20 the catch rate increases but I'm not sure
Not fully watched so you may have said this, but this also gives you a high chance of finding a shiny of it. Since you'd probably be consistently catching it way over 31 times, your shiny chances will be increased a lot.
To anyone who sees this just know, as long as you have the patience, this should work. Its annoying but its fucking works, my Pokemon went up 10 levels in like two or less hours fron this. Im subbing bro.
No lie, my first Chansey spawned while watching this video. I was like speak of the devil. I snagged it with your technique and scored about 2000exp which is a lot for my level ~20 Pokemon.
If you didn't beat the elite four yet and you are getting ready for them, I recommend going to Victory Road. You can either choose to catch Onix, Chansey, Rhydon, or Hitmonlee.

Its not for babies since it can actually be hard to catch the Pokémon, also you can still battle the snorlax, legendary birds, electrodes and mewtwo.,and it only has a 5 minute timer so it can be hard too
There is a way that is much much faster. I have barely caught any Pokemon and my strongest character is level 38 and I just started playing. Get a PokeBall Plus and then take your Pokemon for a stroll then when you come back and had in a Pokemon it gets a TON of XP without having to even play the game for hrs and hrs.
It reads walking and driving. I work in a small store and because im constantly moving, in one 10 hour shift, I leveled up my Raichu twice, got 2 rare candy, some geodude and pikachu candy, etc.
You should also mentioned that since we r on a chain, we shd try to hit it up till as high as possible, at least 31. To get guaranteed max IVs pokemon and super high chance of shiny if u had complete the pokedex and got the shiny charm from the producer team in Celadon City. Chaining tip is to see the animation of the pokemon. Normally pokemon has two animations (except magikarp maybe?), or for some three. Normally one of them would be the attacking animation of the pokemon, and another animation of it like roaring. The roaring one signifies it is going to run away soon. So just run away before it fleds. Trainer running away wont break the combo chain. Since chansey is chained, might as well. ;)
@@imnotandre8763 lay the joycon flat on a surface like a table. This calibrates the motion controls. Do it every time you boot the game or open from suspension. Very simple fix that gamefreak didn't do a good job of explaining this part of the system. Works fine for me after I do the steps above.
I thought I got a lot when I hit 33k on a chansey. Couple days later, I got a little over 60,000 twice. Then a couple days ago, I got 77,360 XP on one chancey! Just sucks that you have to sit there and literally watch each one level up each level before it goes onto the next and some of them can level up 20-30 spots from one chansey catch, depending on how low your party is!
Max lure pokemon road is easiest way to find Chansey. Try to only catch them back to back. This is a tip after you have 4 badges but not all of them cause some people want to level up before elite 4 not after

Michael Bott Same happened to me. My advice: if it doesn't work after 4 or 5 times, run away. Your streak won't reset if you run.
Some you can but it's better to just run affter 2, cause you can't catch them all.
Sound advice fellas! Figured if you ran the streak reset.
Another tip: if it does not stay in the ball 2 to 3 times in a row, flee. The chain stays and chansey tends to flee a lot.

Don't have to click on all the spots. Eeveel will wiggle its tail when there is an item. Or pikatchu does at least.

@@Medachod what? Everything other than xl/xs can be done consistently. Before you catch 100 to have a catch chance bonus just use golden razzberries.

If you didnt beat the game I recommend doing the same thing at Pokémon mansion at cinnabar island and catching magmar

The highest exp i got from chanesy is 60,000 when i hit maybe 25 or 30 or above chain.
It's easier to use the joycons in each hand because the side throws are weird if you use the grip

Chanseys always run from me, so I find it easier with Graveler. I got Eevee from level 93 to 100 in under half an hour.
The problem is
You barely see Chansey even when you use a max lure
I gained 45,000 EXP from one excellent catch, a combo of 13 Chansey, first throw and sync bonus. Great strategy for leveling quickly!

You should also mentioned that since we r on a chain, we shd try to hit it up till as high as possible, at least 31. To get guaranteed max IVs pokemon and super high chance of shiny if u had complete the pokedex and got the shiny charm from the producer team in Celadon City. Chaining tip is to see the animation of the pokemon. Normally pokemon has two animations (except magikarp maybe?), or for some three. Normally one of them would be the attacking animation of the pokemon, and another animation of it like roaring. The roaring one signifies it is going to run away soon. So just run away before it fleds. Trainer running away wont break the combo chain. Since chansey is chained, might as well. ;)

@@imnotandre8763 lay the joycon flat on a surface like a table. This calibrates the motion controls. Do it every time you boot the game or open from suspension. Very simple fix that gamefreak didn't do a good job of explaining this part of the system. Works fine for me after I do the steps above.
I take my Nintendo out of the dock when going for a chain, for me much easier and you can just move the screen with the thumbstick.

I thought I got a lot when I hit 33k on a chansey. Couple days later, I got a little over 60,000 twice. Then a couple days ago, I got 77,360 XP on one chancey! Just sucks that you have to sit there and literally watch each one level up each level before it goes onto the next and some of them can level up 20-30 spots from one chansey catch, depending on how low your party is!
Max lure pokemon road is easiest way to find Chansey. Try to only catch them back to back. This is a tip after you have 4 badges but not all of them cause some people want to level up before elite 4 not after
Exp for catching wild Pokémon but not battling them, they need to change this in next year.
