Hi Linda, I was a workcamper at CHC also, many years ago. I worked anywhere from 30 to over 40 hours a week, and never got paid. My site, utilities and water were my pay. And also any meals when I was working. I was the camp nurse. Then I found out that the following year, they actually hired a gal who stayed in the camp nurse building, AND she got paid for every hour she worked, and the other perks as well. I too felt bad about it all, but God's grace brought me victory in that situation. I pray now that God blesses you with all spiritual, financial and health blessings! Apply for unemployment and explain to them that, they refused to pay you. They will do it to others. unemployment department has deep fines for that kind of behavior.

Hi Linda - why go all the way to Michigan for $10 hr and have to sleep in your SUV when you could get a job close to your tiny home and sleep in your own bed?😊
❤🙏, I know you have moved on, but you absolutely need to file a complaint with the state labor division. It is not for you, it is for future employees. There are federal labor laws that were broke. They will be fined eventually. You may never see compensation, but at least the camp will be required to go to school on the laws and they will get monitored more closely in the future. I am so thankful you found a better opportunity. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. God truly has your back. Blessings.
Good to know covenant hills camp grounds is not an honest place. I wont support any company that does not pay its employees. If they had no intention of paying you they should've said so from the beginning. A campground I will never stay in. Shameful! Good for you that you have another job.
Unfortunately google is deleting negative reviews for CHC pertaining to this issue. Such a shame.
The state’s Department of Labor can take care of this for you, Linda! You can fill out the online Wage Claim form (if the state offers it online as mine does) when you get settled at your next stop! I’m 62 and so inspired by your journey! ❤

@@SereneandSimpleLifeeach state has a Dept of Labor guided by federal law (U.S. Dept of Labor). It covers a wide range of law to prevent mistreatment of workers. They will take care of it for you.
The same thing happened to me on my very first job when I was 15, 40 years ago. When I quit, the owner refused to release my last paycheck because he wanted me to say bad things about my manager who had also quit prior, and I refused - she had been good to me. My Dad reported it to the state and I was paid within a month WITH interest. What a wonderful lesson that was for my Dad to help me learn at the age of 15. It has served me well over the years. Most companies (upon refusing payment - virtually always very small companies) now only need to hear they’ll be reported to their state’s labor board to realize they can’t steal from You!
Please...NEVER take your eyes off the road. I survived a head on collision by a drunk driver because I saw it coming and changed lanes. I had only seconds to make that adjustment. Blessings. :)

The reviews on that campground are quite low. If the online reviews are any indication they have been declining in customer service and cleanliness in recent years. Your trusting nature is admirable, but please start getting these things in writing (signed contract). Perhaps proactively research workplaces before giving them your labor!
Please STOP driving and filming, your life and other ppls life is at risk it's just easier to pull over and film.

That’s unfair and unfortunate. I’ve been in a similar situation where a summer job didn’t work out but it was no fault of mine. It’s important that you know that this is not your fault. They were very unprofessional and not very Christian- like.

Workamping is hard work for little benefit. We did it for 5 years. We got to go to many places, but with the paid jobs many hours and hard work was expected. We switched to volunteering at state and federal parks. We were treated wonderful by Rangers. They never took advantage of us. I have S.S. and a small pension now, so I would only do volunteering at this point

I really don’t think so as He helped me re-set up the app and add my hours worked when I first got there and I wasn’t able to clock in and out at first.. maybe after I worked the entire week he could of been informed but not significant now. I was bummed that he didn’t personally contact me either than a simple text😕

I am sorry that happened to you. I can totally understand you leaving. You should have been paid the extra you worked past the 22. Plus also communication is something they did not have with your boss etc. communication lacks so much in our world. I know God can and will provide another opportunity for you. I can totally understand if you go somewhere expecting to get paid then you should and if that is not the case they need to tell you that. They need to tell the people that you report to that your not going to get paid. I am so sorry this happened and it is good you left because you do not deserve to be taken advantage of.

I am at pool site or full or pull site and 40 hrs and whatever the first is; it is all GREAT...between my tiny slits in my ears and leaning in to Y/T puter sometimes I jusr can not catch it, but I am so excited because some thing was "blah" about things as you were traveling there and could not put finger on it..ok..now listening again..lol..i am 65 in a half a year,,man you make it look good...ok rest of story.....Ok got the rest...just fabuloso...like the cleaner..cleanse, wash, great attitude, create next step immediately and find a place where both good buisiness practices and God are...!!! You know I truly feel many of God's people are going to get suprising mental, physical, spiritual and financial releif next 12 months,,,I just so and love the way you handled it and let go and let God do it. Still playing your part of course. I just can not get over how you just get to go further due north. I really want to do more exploring there. It is a great state ( and others are close to it too) for the lakes and all the different things and I love thtifting and neat wonderful supises for what you want and what you need and it is good up there...Got a cool hand made Bow pottery Candle holder here at Goodwill made by a potter up there...and in my worrly life I was a young life camp counselor there...that had some snags too...LOL. What really gets me is such a good amount of people willing to work for lower wages and get their spot and live their lives more simply are at least a huge segment of the fine tuned and diligent people out there you would want...well have a blast and i am so glad you are going where there is a little more action...find something lovely for yourself up there in the AC thrift or Gift stores to celebrate,,,,Yahoo.

Glad things worked out for the better for you but I'm sorry Linda, I don't understand why you aren't living in your cozy cottage and working a job close by there. I guess you have a good reason, but I don't understand it.
I had been living in a little piece of heaven, and was presented the opportunity to help family with their finances and childcare needs by renting one of their bedrooms. I gave notice and moved 30 days later. After arriving I realized that I hadn't been informed of the tick infestation or the heat wave that was currently in affect. It was within 30 minutes of my decision to reconsider and leave the area, that my prior housemate/roommate sent me a text, saying if things don't work out that I was welcomed back ( with a decrease in rent of $200.00 a month ). I'm back in my little piece of heaven and I am now able to send the family a little financial assistance. Her brother moved in and helps with childcare. " When one door closes, another one opens up." So happy God has blessed you with an even better opportunity. I've found that's always been the case in my life. I've lost jobs and was devastated only to be offered something so much better...EVERY TIME. The last few times...I would get excited when I left a job KNOWING that something better was coming my way...and it ALWAYS did. God is great!

So glad the Lord opened a window. The enemy satan is a schemer and he schemes to hurt people of faith but God is ALL POWERFUL and he is our Provider (Jehovah Jira). God will deal with those that steal from the workers.

Linda, I hope by the time this video is shown you are working at the new job you are driving to. Hint - get a “new hire” letter in writing with terms of employment prior to starting work.

I know people say well if they can live with it I can live without it well let me tell you something and I'm a godly person but it's time that we start holding people accountable that's why there's so many crooks in the world and greedy people living off the backs of others so if you ask me I think they need to be held accountable I wouldn't just let this ride I wouldn't let it go , that doesn't mean you're not shining your light it means you shined it so bright it's time for people to see because guess what God wants us to love ourselves as much as we love others and if we're letting others treat us bad because we are important too not being selfish but I have learned a lot about self-love in the last few years that's what's wrong with our country we don't think we're worth much and that we're not capable of doing the job that the people in charge are and they are some horrible people doing a horrible job so while I understand where you're coming from it's time to hold people accountable for their actions, remember the flood he held people accountable for their actions
