@Katsuki Bakugou no don't worry . I was just thinking that's what john solo refered too when he said he thinks he knows what answer we will give him to the question about the big turtle seen in the disney movie

It's actually pronounced Shahr-Zaad in Persian, which means city-born, palace-born (or princess) referring to the high social status of the girl (it is a common name, though). Somehow in all European translations it's mispronounced as Shehrezad, which is what you guys may hear more commonly in all references.

The story of Ali Baba has been dramatized many times. I always remembered one in which Ali Baba's brother snuck into the cave and tried to get out when he heard the thieves coming-but has forgotten the password which would open the cave-door.He remembered vaguely that it was some plant-seed and tried,"Open Ryebread! Open Barleycorn! Open Pumpkinseeds!" (I once told this to a woman who didn't realize that was where,"Open Sesame,"came from.
I read in a book written in Arabic once, a mention of the origin of the phrase " Open sesame". Sesame is the name of the gatekeeper! Oh Yeah! his name was Simmsimm; the Arabic name for sesame. The german who translate the story got it wrong in faithfulness. And got it right for adding more mystery to the story. Also, while I'm at it, let me slide the meaning of the name Murjanah in Arabic. She is a Precious coral! "which is used for making jewelry" said Wikipedia.
If you read the original book in Arabic you would be astonished by thé racism toward blacks and the violent sexism toward women without mentioning religious bigotry especially toward Zoroastrians.. anyway the book is originally Persian but later on Indian Arabic and some Chinese stories were added in the final Arabic version.

Morgiana occupies the lowest possible position but proves to be the smartest, bravest, and most valuable person in the story. It adds a little more meaning when you remember that this story is being told by Scheherazade, whose goal was to continually keep the king from deciding to go through with having her killed.
I read somewhere that the stories in 1001 Nights start out sexist and gradually start lookibg more favorably towards women over the course of the book, Shererazade originally mirroring her husband's misogynist views to get in his good graces and then slowly get him to chabge his mind. Thanks for this content. To add some facts: Scheherezade doesn't tell Schariar the stories directly. She does to her sister Dunyazad, who is present there and asks for them, in order to (succesfully) get the king interested and avoid being killed next morning. And the status of the Nights being written by many authors is discussed by some scholars, who argue there is a single origin (despite having later additions).

I grew up reading the actual stories themselves - I was never introduced to them via Disney movies.
I count myself fortunate.

Yess finally a new video!!!
I remember a Popeye version as a kid where Popeye says, "Open Says Me".
FYI, Scheherazade is pronounced Sha-hair-a-zod. Great topic by the by.
well god dang that's what I thought but didn't want to be wrong! Going with my gut next time lol

Lil Reese- "We dont count money, we weight it."
Scheherazade, I’ve heard a few pronunciations. Sha-har-a-zad and Shar-zad. It’s certainly a beautiful and lovely name. 🙂

Your commentary is cracking me up. Glad that I discovered your videos.
Also FWIW, I figured it out earlier, but spent my childhood ALSO thinking that it was more "Open SAYZ ME" than Sesame
You pronounce the bride's name like this: SHE-HE-RE-ZAAD.
Rap song "Ask about me" by Ice Cube. "So much cheese, you got to weigh it."
I can't wait to see your episode about the magical turtle island creature!!!💓 Team Solo💯
I'm so excited!!💣💣
I really love how you are such a good storyteller and are still able to work jokes (funny ones) into your work! Keep doing what you're doing and ignore the haters(if there even is any)👍
I like how the movie made reference to the oil pots. They sneak into the wedding in baskets hanging on donkies or camels
I liked that too. For some reason I didn't make the connection until I was already well into the editing process and felt like such a dumb brain
This was uploaded on my birthday. It's a great story and great explanation. I've heard of the story but never went so in depth in it. Great job
Anybody else here seen Magi(anime). Its based on this exact story. Great watch.
Wish they release the season 3 of magi. Its been years of waiting ☹️

Excellent ... You're a great storyteller yourself.
Another amazing story i remembered reading this story. And it's still my favorite. Lov the Arabian Nights
..As Arab I'm flattered lol
there is a 1971 Turkish movie called the same name of this. I suddenly remembered every event in the movie bc they covered every single detail. I suggest you to check it out just bc the guy who played ali baba was a legendary actor here in Turkey!
after I check out most of the comments here I realized that most of the middle eastern countries covered this story! since ali baba the name is also very common for a lot of them! thanks for this story. I've just found your channel and subscribed for the crazy amount of hardwork you are going through for every single one of your videos!
I won't lie, I really loved this messed up origin story video. It was such a plot twist I never saw it coming. I felt happy and scared while watching, it's like really listening to a good story. Man keep 🤬 it up, remember I said it first 🤣😌
Absolutely Wonderful! One of my favorite tales from childhood.
In '1001 Nights' Scheherazade's (the lady) name is pronounced 'SHAH-RA-ZAD'. That's how most people pronounce it, anyway.
It's way easier to pronounce than many people think
"They might come out while I'm trying to leave and see me. Best stay put until they leave."
Feels like the opposite of so many movie characters.
This is like audio book...with jokes and apparantly cuss words...of course😂😂
Love from india😍
1:52 He disliked his own video 😂
I've never seen Aladdin and the King of Theives.
Yess, do a video on the turtle! I know it from Avatar and Pokemon.
I know what you mean by "a bundle of sticks".
I feel like most people thought it was "Open says me".
yeahhh Arabic segment! Other than the book version, I remember the 1961 P Ramlee Version Ali Baba Bujang Lapok (adaptation of Ali Baba with comedy)
I think there is an eng sub on youtube

I grew up with the Arabian nights stories...Ali baba and forty thieves was one of the most gruesome ones I ever heard....there were some minor differences ...the slave girl was called Marjina and the secret chant to open the cave was 'khul ja sim sim'.....great video BTW!
Definitely talk about the turtle in another video!
This is my new favourite story EVER
Am I the only one that, when listening to this, is thinking about the anime 'Magi and the Labyrinth of Magic'?
Weeb’s Are Awesome me too
