    Top guy for mentioning models for heroes !! I’ve never bothered with the airfix club so the flying hours were never given a second thought until I learned about models for heroes. I save all mine now and every now and again post a batch off to them. Great idea for ex services

    I bought this kit at Aldi. I wanted to see how acrylic paints work both brushing and airbrushing as I've only ever used enamels before and this kit saves the expense of buying a bunch of acrylic paints just to try them. Also I like the idea of being able to clean paint brushes and airbrush with just water, a lot less faffing around.
    Red is always a difficult colour for large areas and I wouldn't normally attempt without an under coat and in your build it seemed to give reasonable cover considering it was applied with quite a small brush for a large area.
    I've only come across your videos in the last week or so and have been working my way through them, had a bit of a binge a couple of nights ago. A nice easy watch, thank you.

      @@garys_stuff Which one is left - is it the hurricane? I do love picking these kits up from Aldi - such nice kits for a fiver, although I've not got to mine yet as I have a few others to clear off the bench first. The Vulcan like like a super build - I hope you enjoy it.

    Nice vid thanks. I built a Mk5 Pelicans Provest a few years ago and this looks like it would sit nicely along side it.
    Big difference in my case. I do most of my painting first, then assemble.
    That works for me, but each to what works for them.

      An interesting way round. I have done bits of that on some kits - e.g. the Lancaster I did the fins separately. On some kits the tailplanes are done separately so it's easier to access the break line between the top cammo and the undersides!

    Nice build, but I think it would have looked a lot better if you had added the crew to the cockpit.

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  2 года назад +2

      I vary between having the crew and not - I think with the starter sets I tend not to have them as the paint is very limited and the brushes are chunky. I did do a pilot for my Eurofighter Typhoon, but I pinched paint from other starter sets (the funnel of the RMS Titanic is a good flesh tone, for example).

    • @batsup1951
      @batsup1951 2 года назад +1

      @@garys_stuff I guessed that this was probably your reasoning as there are no 'flesh' or 'uniform' paints provided in these starter kits. This is why I always buy the 'regular' kits and choose my own paints which I renew when required (but they do last a lot longer).

    • @garys_stuff

      Hi Duncan, I do on regular builds but on these ‘starter’ kits I try to stick to just what comes in the box.

    Im a starter, this looks really complicated, im about to make this but dont have things like sanders or thos cutting knives. Will this make the model deformed in any way?

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  7 месяцев назад

      Hi, don't worry! You don't need specialist things. You can use a craft knife or small electrician's cutters to get bits off the frame, and you can use regular nail files instead of special sanding sticks. Both of these can be obtained very cheaply.
