@@howtotechstuff. Leave it the way it is. Just use it like a rocker arm. You don’t have to turn it much to lock and unlock the pan. Just move it enough one way or the other. It’s really very simple and it works great.
Well I see a comment below and you have yet to answer it so I have very low expectations for my question here... Does the head exhibit any backlash? This is where the end of a pan movement bounces back slightly.
Apologies for late reply badGamr, the backlash is almost non-existent. I've only experienced it when panning very very slowly but I believe it might be more due to my inexperience (i.e uneven release of the handle pressure) rather than the tool itself as I found it happening inconsistently. Didn't see any backlash when the movement was slow/normal/fast. I hope this helps.
Hey Dan, unfortunately I've never tested it with super zooms like that. I've used it with 70-200mm and in my opinion it was very steady. With lenses like that the tripod quality/weight would be of high importance as well.
You can switch the handle to the other side and flip completely the locking knob, so you can have it near to you behind the camera.
Thanks for the tip 👍

@@howtotechstuff Thanks so much!
How steady is the video image when using the manfrotto and a 2000mm zoom lens?
