Seriously. That was my first thought when I heard that. If there is no spirits there, there wouldn't be anyone to move the planchette.... So it's obviously her best friend that was moving the planchette the whole time and somehow *miraculously* knew her best friend's grandmother's first name!
I wouldn't give up my work at home job because someone broke in. I would just better secure my home. It can't be worse than coming home from work, and surprising a robber! Either way, it's dangerous!

I just want to point this out to future writers / writers who intend to submit stories: mortifying means embarrassing. It sounds like "deathly afraid" because mort = death and ify = terrify.

So many stories featured on this channel (and others) make this mistake, it bugs me every time I hear it.
As non-native English speaker, who learns by consuming media like this - thank you! I'm grateful for people in the comments explaining such things, because up to this day I thought it means what the authors thought it means.
In the science world mortified means severely decaying flesh. But the common usage is extreme embarrassment.

Story 3 is either complete bull, or the BIGGEST HUMBLE-BRAG I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY GATDAMN LIFE.
story #4 really hit close to home. I was 13 when I almost killed myself. What's even more scary is that I was going to do the exact same thing. Swallow a bunch of pills, but I was going to top it all off with my dad's mouthwash that has a lot of alcohol in it. I was a sickly kid growing up so yeah, I had enough medicine to do it.
But thankfully, I came to my senses before I could. And I'm glad I didn't do it. I found that it was all because of my depression from my friend abusing me. What helped me was talking everything out to my mother. And eventually bettered my life.
so overall, don't give up. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Please seek help.

I love when people spend 80% of their story explaining how rich they are and it has absolutely nothing to do with the plot
The only thing that I can think of was that it was to emphasize that he was made to pay for the damages to his mother's vehicle even though he is far less wealthy than they are. That is to teach him that he is responsible for his own actions, I guess. Or that wealthy people are tight with their money (think Scrooge, but all year long.) 🤷

First story: how does going out to work make a difference if someone broke into your house? Why not just change the locks or something ? It’s kinda stupid cause they’re just out now while someone might be breaking into their house.

Okay, people, "mortified" does not mean frightened or disturbed. It means embarrassed or humiliated. The word you want is "terrified" (very afraid), "petrified" (so afraid you freeze), or "horrified" (very disturbed or shocked).

I started laughing from almost the first sentence of the first story - you work from HOME??? No way! Since COVID, pretty much everyone with an office job works from home, lol.
I can relate 99.99 % on the pill story, although the meds they put me on were birth control that I didn't need to take for more then 1 reason, wasn't for birth control reasons, I told the drs prior that I was allergic to those pills, but since I was their guinea pig I took them, and was horrible within a couple weeks, and since I already have depression it amped it up a lot, come to find out it was from those pills and they did more damage then good.

The most scaring stories to me are where the characters are cornered in a closed place and especially when there are unexpected "guests"
I am also a "Survivor" of Child Abuse, Mental, Physical & Sexual. My biological parents were my abusers, but they were NOT the ones who abused me sexually. That was done by my cousins.I was beaten so severely that I had to have two Craniotomies, (from the blunt force trauma to my head I developed blood cuts on the brain), before I was 6 months old. My so called Mom even tried to take drugs and run her stomach into stuff to try to abort me. I might have been an infant, but I wear the scars on the Outside and Inside! Some parents are "MONSTERS!!" :'(

I liked all these scary home alone horror stories! I feel bad for the family members who died in some, especially the dog! I knew the dog was dead! I also feel bad that some of the parents in these stories divorced. I don't like it when people divorce. If I saw a guy walking around a neighborhood and looking into some windows, I would stand in front of my window for him to see that I'm in the house so maybe he would leave the house alone. Thanks for sharing them!

Story 1: I’m currently working at home with a hammer next to me. I swear I hear things in the attic and a few weeks before we moved in a crazy man decided he had lived in the house for two years and was arrested by the cops. My house alarm is on, but the door to the garage where the attic door is at cannot be fully locked. They owners have fixed it several times and still it keeps on shifting to where it cannot be locked properly. I have my three dogs with me so I am sure they would warn me if something was off. I guess I’m extra worried because it’s a Wednesday and I’ve only got a few things to do working from home today.
