I tried audible and I just find it ridiculous. I have to pay a monthly membership fee to be able to buy books. The prices are pretty expensive. Like hardcover prices. If Im paying that much for a book, I’d rather buy a physical copy.
agree. the only reason I have it is because it's free with amazon prime. I honestly wouldn't mind the price if the voice acting for the books was at least good. Good voice actors ain't cheap afterall, but so many of the readers sound horrible.

It freaks me out a bit as well! Kitty litter can be used for e.g. bodily fluids of a corpse, to basically dry and mummify a dead body... I'm certainly no expert in that - I've only heard about this method in a handful of True Crime cases, where it was used for this exact reason, (it's not commonly known though) - but it might be even more effective, if it's already used; to disguise the smell of the rotting flesh and stuff. The old guy's advantage would be, there's no footage of him on camera, buying large quantities of kitty litter, nobody's getting suspicious cause he doesn't have cats and it's also for free... Although this story could've an innocent explanation as well, some types of used kitty litter are compostable and can be used in the garden like a fertilizer. Idk, what to think of that story tbh.

No, because of yours and your other friends lack of compassion towards another human being, he became completely fixated on the one person who showed him any kindness. Because he was bullied and made fun of by all the rest of you, when he lost that one friend he had, he felt that there was no point in carrying on with his life. Weird or different doesn't mean that a person is bad, and it certainly doesn't mean that they deserve to be ridiculed for it by people who go out of their way to do so. How on earth do you think he must have felt? How would you have felt in the same position? Is it really so hard to believe that he would have become a little obsessive about the single person in his life who was nice to him? I'm not by any means saying that the situation Lola found herself in was okay or acceptable. But the fact that you can't seem to see your part in this whole thing shows your immaturity, your shallowness and your lack of compassion. It's disgusting. Lola is a total diamond of a person and I feel bad for both her and Albert for how things turned out. All because of a lack of basic human kindness towards another person.

The story about Albert was pretty depressing specially for Lola, even if she didn't said anything to him she could have to endure her whole life being harassed. It's sad that many people are trying to minimize what he was doing to her, like implying that because he was bullied there's no way he can't be a harasser. The guy who told that story is an asshole too because instead of trying to help he just stood there but he was the first to criticize her friend when he could've done something so Albert wouldn't harass her and he could've teach him how to interact with girls like a normal person.

Yes he was clearly a strange kid with some poor social skills, that doesnt mean he needed to be bullied, he needed help. Albert was clearly a lonely kid bullied and abandoned by society. Isolation can lead to poor social skills and strange behaviors. Anybody who says that he "got what he deserved" clearly have a guilt on their consciousness. People need to be treated better.

From the sounds of it she was too nice for her own good (been there, so speaking from experience) so she eventually would have approached Albert seeing as he was basically bullied and ostracized by the whole school. And then the same thing would’ve happened. OP and his friends merely made it happen sooner.

[WARNING: Do not attempt to read if you're allergic to words. There are a lot of words, and some of them are even kind of big. Run away screaming in the opposite direction if reading makes your throat swell up to the point of closing.] Here's the thing: It shouldn't be common to judge people by who they were in high school...and most high school kids are still figuring out boundaries (Which goes both ways), but it is. Lola was ahead of her time in her mission to tolerate Albert (Not necessarily accept him or endorse him, which are important distinguishing factors). A lot of teens grow out of their toxic ways, but it's still pretty sad when that toxicity contributes toward the end of a life, and pretty infuriating when teens seem to take group accepted asshole behavior to mean that the group is not wrong in its asshole behavior, because of that acceptance. Lola may have been the nicest and smartest person that OP knew, but she's not immune to the effects of peer pressure. Humans are hard wired to notice and care about peer pressure/opinion, even to the point of it rivaling what their parents think, up until they're biologically adults. She was doing what she thought was right, but she didn't know how to handle Alberts' own teenage toxicity (The inappropriate sharing of fringe sexual content, and stalking). Albert himself was possibly a mix of "used to getting crap from people" and "too hopeful that Lola, the only person who has shown him kindness, would share in his inclinations". Ask anyone who's a seasoned veteran of bullying: People who are actually nice to you, whether sincere or not, typically end up being the subject of intense crushes that are bad for everybody concerned. There is also a difference between, "It's kids, they're going to be stupid" and "It's acceptable because they are stupid kids". What's wrong is still wrong, even when young people do it and think they are right at the time... but, they're probably still going to do it, because they lack the experience and foresight to understand that what they're doing is wrong, and then perhaps, choose differently. Lola was very mature in this regard, and so while her blaming herself isn't correct, neither is the 'shrug it off, business as usual' attitude of the OP. Provided the story is real, I hope Lola recovers and gets her life back together... preferably without OP, who, assuming they are no longer a high schooler when they wrote this, is not emotionally mature enough to do right by her. He still seems pretty self centered and not concerned with others. Albert killing himself is not her fault, but absolutely, all the people who contributed to his harassment and shunning all have a portion of blame to shoulder. Ultimately, Albert made that decision, but, teens are also infamous for their shortsightedness (And yes, this also applies to the teens who bullied him).
Wow story number 2. The scariest part of this story is that a family who was supposed to take care of a 5 year old in an old man's body allowed him to run around by himself with no supervision. Them when this so called 5 year old misbehaves he's thrown out like he's never had a family at all. Who is the real creep here?

If I've learned anything from these stories then the helpful advice that one should continously ask themselves 'What would have happened if...'. It's because all these scenarios in your head help you cope with the trauma and make sure you can move on with your life. "I didn't know what to do." You tell the girl your brother is stalking her so that she's aware she could potentially be in a lot of danger, that's what you do.

Ok, I know this is an old video but I just realized that the sound used between stories really really *really* reminds me of playing Mass Effect! When you've got almost everything done, your crew has nothing new to say and it feels so lonely. It's so friggin weird and it completely freaks me out!
In the Albert story , it saddens me that even with all this technology and internet that not everyone is educated in the topic of bullying. Some kids already have it enough by not feeling accepted by their peers and to top it off and pick on them ? Like seriously, if they’re not bothering you leave them alone . I understand that Albert was giving off red flags but I think if things were handled another way then the outcome would’ve been much different. I normally love love love this show, but frankly, I was pretty taken aback hearing the story about Albert and Lola here. That story should be labeled as a cautionary tale about how shallowness, cliquishness, elitism, bullying & frivolously labeling people as "stalkers" can be the real horror story, and have very REAL consequences. The person who sent that in sounds immature, petty, narrow-minded and self-involved. And go Lola for refusing to shun someone just for being different. Poor Albert sounds like a left-of-center kid who just had a crush, daaared to take a candid shot of his friend at school (heaven forbid)m and who didn't deserve the massive sh*tstorm he got. I'm not a furry, but I WAS the fat, blind goth kid who got bullied nearly to death growing up, so I know a bit about what this kid was going through. And thanks to some friends who've educated me in later years, i also know there's a difference between furries & yiffers. (Look it up.) Either way, as odd as I might find both these things, as much they're NOT my bag, they don't make a person worthy of being bullied & ridiculed, regardless. This was a geeky, awkward anime kid, & the other kids bullied him to the point of suicide. The writer's friend being upset about it isn't what's weird. The author NOT being upset & learning something from his actions IS. There's a difference between being genuinely dangerous and just different, and the kids who listen to this should be reminded that the way the person who wrote in, the other kids at their school who made Albert's life a living hell because of stupid, silly assumptions and both cyber-bullied and bullied him IRL are the real monsters to be feared here. @letsread, please either remove this story from this collection, or put a preface somewhere in the audio and description that this is NOT healthy behavior, or anything you condone. Lola sounds like the only one in this story who had her head screwed on straight & half a working heart, and the crap those other kids did to this one odd duck is NOT okay. I know these stories are supposed to be scary, but I think the scare in this particular read was misplaced.

Living vicariously through your kid & pushing THEM into things THEY don't necessarily want or taking credit for THEIR success if THEY do want it, however, absolutely is pathetic. Notice what I did there in that previous paragraph? It's about THEM. It isn't ever about you. You had your shot to do what you wanted with your life. It's THEIR turn now. Be the safe, supportive, proud parent propping them up, not the pathetic hanger on trying to ride their coattails to get some attention for yourself out of THEIR success because, honestly, that's gross as fucking hell.

Because he was bullied and made fun of by all the rest of you, when he lost that one friend he had, he felt that there was no point in carrying on with his life.
Weird or different doesn't mean that a person is bad, and it certainly doesn't mean that they deserve to be ridiculed for it by people who go out of their way to do so. How on earth do you think he must have felt? How would you have felt in the same position? Is it really so hard to believe that he would have become a little obsessive about the single person in his life who was nice to him?
I'm not by any means saying that the situation Lola found herself in was okay or acceptable. But the fact that you can't seem to see your part in this whole thing shows your immaturity, your shallowness and your lack of compassion. It's disgusting.

The story about Albert was pretty depressing specially for Lola, even if she didn't said anything to him she could have to endure her whole life being harassed. It's sad that many people are trying to minimize what he was doing to her, like implying that because he was bullied there's no way he can't be a harasser. The guy who told that story is an asshole too because instead of trying to help he just stood there but he was the first to criticize her friend when he could've done something so Albert wouldn't harass her and he could've teach him how to interact with girls like a normal person.

Yes he was clearly a strange kid with some poor social skills, that doesnt mean he needed to be bullied, he needed help. But its not her fault he died and hes not selfish for her feeling like it was her fault when he died. Maybe if the school didnt bully him so much it wouldve been different. From the sounds of it she was too nice for her own good (been there, so speaking from experience) so she eventually would have approached Albert seeing as he was basically bullied and ostracized by the whole school. And then the same thing would’ve happened. OP and his friends merely made it happen sooner.
Too bad that there aren't more Lolas out there. She was the only person that treated him like a human and it probably meant a lot to him and his family. If everyone were like Lola there would be less grieving parents.

Here's the thing: It shouldn't be common to judge people by who they were in high school...and most high school kids are still figuring out boundaries (Which goes both ways), but it is. Lola was ahead of her time in her mission to tolerate Albert (Not necessarily accept him or endorse him, which are important distinguishing factors).
A lot of teens grow out of their toxic ways, but it's still pretty sad when that toxicity contributes toward the end of a life, and pretty infuriating when teens seem to take group accepted asshole behavior to mean that the group is not wrong in its asshole behavior, because of that acceptance.
Lola may have been the nicest and smartest person that OP knew, but she's not immune to the effects of peer pressure. Humans are hard wired to notice and care about peer pressure/opinion, even to the point of it rivaling what their parents think, up until they're biologically adults. She was doing what she thought was right, but she didn't know how to handle Alberts' own teenage toxicity (The inappropriate sharing of fringe sexual content, and stalking). Albert himself was possibly a mix of "used to getting crap from people" and "too hopeful that Lola, the only person who has shown him kindness, would share in his inclinations". Ask anyone who's a seasoned veteran of bullying: People who are actually nice to you, whether sincere or not, typically end up being the subject of intense crushes that are bad for everybody concerned.
There is also a difference between, "It's kids, they're going to be stupid" and "It's acceptable because they are stupid kids". What's wrong is still wrong, even when young people do it and think they are right at the time... but, they're probably still going to do it, because they lack the experience and foresight to understand that what they're doing is wrong, and then perhaps, choose differently. Lola was very mature in this regard, and so while her blaming herself isn't correct, neither is the 'shrug it off, business as usual' attitude of the OP.
Provided the story is real, I hope Lola recovers and gets her life back together... preferably without OP, who, assuming they are no longer a high schooler when they wrote this, is not emotionally mature enough to do right by her. He still seems pretty self centered and not concerned with others.
Albert killing himself is not her fault, but absolutely, all the people who contributed to his harassment and shunning all have a portion of blame to shoulder. Ultimately, Albert made that decision, but, teens are also infamous for their shortsightedness (And yes, this also applies to the teens who bullied him).

the story with albert is so... wrong, albert did something bad thats true but it all started because OP and the other people bullied albert for being different, it makes sense that he will become overly attached to the only person who shows him any form of kindness
I normally love love love this show, but frankly, I was pretty taken aback hearing the story about Albert and Lola here. That story should be labeled as a cautionary tale about how shallowness, cliquishness, elitism, bullying & frivolously labeling people as "stalkers" can be the real horror story, and have very REAL consequences.
The person who sent that in sounds immature, petty, narrow-minded and self-involved. And go Lola for refusing to shun someone just for being different. Poor Albert sounds like a left-of-center kid who just had a crush, daaared to take a candid shot of his friend at school (heaven forbid)m and who didn't deserve the massive sh*tstorm he got.
I'm not a furry, but I WAS the fat, blind goth kid who got bullied nearly to death growing up, so I know a bit about what this kid was going through. And thanks to some friends who've educated me in later years, i also know there's a difference between furries & yiffers. (Look it up.) Either way, as odd as I might find both these things, as much they're NOT my bag, they don't make a person worthy of being bullied & ridiculed, regardless. This was a geeky, awkward anime kid, & the other kids bullied him to the point of suicide. The writer's friend being upset about it isn't what's weird. The author NOT being upset & learning something from his actions IS.
There's a difference between being genuinely dangerous and just different, and the kids who listen to this should be reminded that the way the person who wrote in, the other kids at their school who made Albert's life a living hell because of stupid, silly assumptions and both cyber-bullied and bullied him IRL are the real monsters to be feared here. @letsread, please either remove this story from this collection, or put a preface somewhere in the audio and description that this is NOT healthy behavior, or anything you condone. Lola sounds like the only one in this story who had her head screwed on straight & half a working heart, and the crap those other kids did to this one odd duck is NOT okay.
