JANGBRiCKS I wish the ninjago movie sets stayed true to the series. Imagine if this bounty had the ability to fly, had giant engines that you can take off the side if you like, making it a great boat and unique set, I forgot to say that I love your channel I kinda got off track

Finished building this set a couple of days ago. I had not watched Jang's wonderful review of it when he uploaded it, purely on a personal level as I tend to steer away from the reviews of the most expensive sets. However we found this on sale on Christmas day here in Finland and it was such a saving that we had to get it. In just over 30 years of building Lego as a child, teenager, young man and dad I have never been so impressed with a Lego set. Absolutely and truly loved every second of the build. And I completely agree with Jang in his review.

The new ninja go sets are great
Just finished building this set and let me tell you: You really appreciate this set more and more while you're building it. It was really fun building it. I have very few problems with this set which aren't even notable next to the number of pros of the set. Such as: The tip of the ship isn't stable, it can move up. But the greatly detailed dragon heads make you say: "Eh, I can live with that." It is truly the perfect build. I TOTALLY recommend it, get it while it's on stock.
10/10, would build again.
This is my first big set since I was a kid. I'm 24 now and am (re)discovering this amazing world of LEGO that I enjoyed so much as a kid, after all of these years without even seeing a single new LEGO: where I live no store has original LEGO sets, just cheap chinese copycats, so I had to pay an importer to bring me this set from USA. And as a kid my mom bought me a couple of Bionicles and a ship, but nothing more because they were expensive and we didn't have much money. Now that I'm grown up, luckily I can afford to buy LEGO sets so I'm gonna keep feeding my new hobby.
I have just finished Destiny's Bounty and I'm just astonished by the quality of the materials, the amount of detail of the set, the parts that you can remove and also move (I thought LEGO's were always static). It's just amazing. I loved your review, very nice and thorough. You didn't miss any detail. Loved your channel, and suscribed, keep the vids coming!

Having followed the adventures of the Wu Cru from the very beginning, I never expected Ninjago would get this far. From humble beginnings to truly marvelous sets like this, it just goes to show how far LEGO has come.
I just finished this set! I absolutely love all the detail! I didn't think anything could top my Parisian Restaurant build but this definitely did in terms of how much of a challenge it was! I'm partially blind so Lego sets can take me several hours a bag. This big guy took me, not counting the several days I didn't work on it, about 5 days to build, two of those being fullday, more than 6-hour sessions. Totally worth it, though!
Though I'm not necessarily a Ninjago fan it's the aesthetic that I adore. The next set I hope to get is the Ninjago City or, failing that, the Lego Ideas old fishing store.
I know nothing about Ninjago, but the sets have some incredible design and some of the best value. Can't beat that.
And play features...
I do feel exactly that the minimal size of the sails is the key for so much room for play, detail, and ability to remove the decks. Also if there was a mechanism to turn the sails it would've taken room from the deck. So all-in-all, I think it's good.

Everyone, if you are thinking of getting this or not then I highly recommend that you do. It is so beautiful and giant. It was fun to put together and even as a non Ninjago fan, it is still one of my most favorite sets I own. Hopefully this helps!
Amazing review. I agree is one of the top ship up with Imperial Flagship, and Sea Cow. As a ship collector myself, is also a plus point we finally get an Oriental Junk to join the fleet with the Viking ship, and pirates fleet.
I owned every single pirate ship lego ever produce, and i find this set is quite satisfying to build and also an awesome display pcs.
You mention top ships, but omit the Black Seas Barracuda, which is hands down the greatest Lego ship of all time.
I feel that lots of people are buying this, probably the most bought ninjago set, cuz its great price to part ratio and its still available 2 years later.

Heads up if you're in the UK: this set is currently available for £49.99 from Argos.co.uk (availability will depend on your area). The UK RRP was already a great deal in Lego terms, so for less than half price I'm shocked these didn't sell out within hours in my local stores (the deal's been on for the best part of 2 days so far). I ended up buying two, one to build and one for the parts. A lot of useful parts for custom additions to Ninjago City & Docks. Easily the best Lego bargain I've got to date!

Zander Freeman I think this decision was made because the masks are already in the smaller sets so they wanted the cheaper set, TOTUUW, to have the hairpieces instead of the more expensive set
Its an instant buy, the moment I saw the leaked pictures of this ship. Its the type of ship I've been longed for, full of details and hidden decks. It even surpasses the previous super-hype POTC pirate ships and Imperial flagship IMO. As a person who likes ships with decks and captain's quarter, I got both this and the Metalbeard's Sea Cow and very happy with them :)
That aside, finally to see such great review from you Jang. I've been coming back and forth your channel to look for Destiny's Bounty review and finally found it. I've agree with how the sail is abit empty with just that 3 rigid sails, will have to see how to modify that, but the rest of the details really make up for this ship.
I just picked up this kit today. It was a toss up between this, the UCM Snow Speeder, UCM Slave 1, or the UCM Y-wing. I choose Destiny's Bounty based on your review and the awesome parts to price ratio. I can't wait to start building this kit.
This is the _definitive_ version of the destiny's bounty. The first one was small, and kinda eh, but still a cool set. The second was better, and it had cool features, like the engine pod transforming, but it focused a little too much on the features. Plus, the sails had a plethora of problems. (They got stuck, they were an awful material... Etc.)
This version is all about the design, and all about the aesthetic.
The pic of the TV Ninjas in Wus room is the best Easter egg of the set honestly

I may not like the Ninjago movie, but this set looks amazing. Although, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get rockets at the back of the ship.

Not such a boat or Ninjago fan, but this set is absolutely stellar.
What a perfect set! I honestly think It has more value as a big boys collector set than a playset. I don't think that much detailing is needed for play, but it makes for a gorgeous display.
I'm building this set now and I'm not yet done but I'm glad to get a good review on my favorite Ninjago movie set

You should put it in the city harbor. If it fits into an Unban Ninjago city, why not. Also, why not add the rigging yourself, if only for display value. Knowing your ingenuity, I'm sure there's a way to add it in while preserving the excellent accessibility. As always, love your work!
This is definitely one of the best Lego sets I've seen, lots of details, lots to see and play value! I'm not sure that even the ships in Lego Pirates of the Caribbean look this good (I'm gonna have to watch these reviews to be sure!) The only fault I've found on the ship is that it is severely unarmed, they couldn't put a cannon or some other weapon that could defend the ship? And that bed, how freaking cool is that?! Otherwise, it really is beyond cool! Just incredible!
Defender Prime I don't think this is a fighting ship though, but rather a transportation ship. You could easily add a weapon in between the two dragon heads by creating a stand for the laser or just add a lego cannon

Not only that, but did I forget to mention that the set has very good value for something of its size? I also thought you did a very thoughtful job on the music, as it seems so appropriate. Jang, how many of these sets do you take apart, and which ones do you keep together?
I think he takes apart most of them because he uses the pieces to make mocs but he said he's keeping this one on display

The pods on the sides are supposed to be engines as it ,like the tv show bounty, can fly; despite this fact, the feature was dramatically under used in the movie
Or maybe they are just a refrence to the original destiny's bounty
For the hinge on the back thing, if you rotate it down, it is supposed to fly away. If kept up, it is stationary

Yeah I got this set and I was really impressed. There were all sorts of references to the original series and the built itself looks awesome. Probably one of my favorite sets.
Great review! And yes this is absolutely the best minifig scale ship Lego has yet produced. It's actually substantially larger than the Imperial Flagship (by almost 1000 pieces). Which blows my mind as this one was released as a regular consumer retail release, on store shelves everywhere. It's worth noting that as of Season 8 of the TV show this is now the TV universe version of the Bounty. They changed the model (without any longwinded lore explanation. It's just what it looks like now). The TV one does still fly as it always did. Those pivoting wing pieces at the rear are the "Rear Thrusters". They are specifically named as such and become rather important in one of the episodes.
This set 70618 deserve an UCS status. It is a great set.

I mean this detailed, the one we got was kinda disappointing, it hardly looked like the Pearl to me, the video game gave us some nice models but do not exist as sets
I just bought this post christmas and i love it . It took me about 6.5 hrs to build on and off thru a day . I was a little disapointed that i had had to subsitute a few parts from spares as i was missing a few pieces by bag 7-9 but nothing crucial to the build . All over it was a bit stiff in final build to interlock all the sections but as a display piece it works brilliantly . I ended up adding extra cargo to the deck from other ninjago sets and extra weapons etc aswell to the crew . i give this set a 10 /10

I just finished building this set and it is awesome!
Hope you get the Lightning Jet, Jang. It looks funky in all of the pictures, but what they dont show off is the big handle in the back, that makes it have some of the most genuinely fun "swooshing" I've ever had with a lego set. Its really quite striking in person.

I'll start off by saying I'm not really a fan of the Ninjago series. I think the sets are nice sets, but I never got into ninjas in general, so the setting never caught my attention. That said, I love this ship. If it was a more traditional ship design, even as a Junk still, I'd love to see LEGO make a full sized ship set in this style, without relying on premade large pieces.
Just finished building this myself, and I must say, I agree with your praises, this is a fantastic set. My only two compaints are, as you said, the sails feel a little small, and also the hanging bits around the base are a bit easy to knock while moving it around. I'm glad I didn't look too much into this set before buying it as I was pleasantly suprised by all of the little details as I put it together.

Looks awesome but I'd love to exchange that printed compass for a real one like in 90's sets.
I think my biggest negative (which is a helluva nitpick) is that the ship is pretty much locked into a constant state of aggression on board because they can't really take the cowls off. I feel like they could definitely of added all the ninjas hair pieces into this one rather than the TOTUUW, would have barely changed the parts or price. Other than that though, it is a fantastic set and a fantastic review from you to, Jang!

Cole Lynid Well. Like sets Lego makes of THEIR movies, they try to nail it perfectly. Some of these sets come from specific scenes! So maybe they made this set from a scene where the ninja's DO have their masks on, for some reason? We will have to wait and watch the movie, since the box art could be a induction of what's going on. Considering the Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Movie, had similar situations. Of when the box art, was pretty much a scene in the movie.
EDIT: Skim to the end and you can see the back box art. As you can see, it looks like they are in a hurry to leave the doc. As you can see the green ninja, jumping of the ship (with the ultimate weapon) to give some cover for Mia and Kai. While the rest seem to be steering the ship. So that's why they have on their masks? Since mid battle they have to get on the boat and leave the city?

I agree this is an INCREDIBLE boat, especially for the price! I'm stunned how cheap it is. Will definitely be getting one, and some extra rigging parts from Brick Link. That said, nothing will ever, ever beat the Black Seas Barracuda. That is still the greatest Lego ship ever released.
I agree. Eventhough I have never been interested in Ninjago I already think of ways to spare enough money. This looks great and not funky or freakish. It is minific scale (in minific scale it's huge of course) and has so much potential to be developed into something even better!

Most of his reviews are fairly positive, but fair. If it's good, he'll say it's good, if it's bad, he'll say it's bad. The fact that most of his reviews have more positives than negatives shoes how well Lego is doing things these days for the most part.
I think this an absolute triumph of a set. It hits all of the ticks it needs too-
Price/part- On par with MODULARS Minifigure scale- Darn tootin' Interior- Perfect Minifigures- Can't complain at all.
Needless to say, I'm gonna try and buy it (and I'm not a Ninjago fan, that's how cool it is).
$259 NZD for me, which is $20 cheaper than the Ultimate Batmobile. Great value :)

This set is way better than I had expected. I really like the tributes the set gives to the show, it makes me happy. I'm also a huge fan of that bed, very creative.

I'm definitely buying this, will fit nicely to my little custom fantasy theme, with just a tiny bit of modification it will be perfect.
I went to walmart looking for the mech dragon only to find they still had last series sets. So then I took a drive to my nearest toysrus and came back with this and the dragon. Money and time definitely well spent.
walmart tends to fall behind when it comes to their toys. i saw the movie sets in barnes n noble and toys r us a few days ago. have yet to see them in walmart.

I just want to point out that the underside of the plates as the walls in the Dojo actually look really good, like they were intended to be textured walls and not just left there out of necessity. When does that happen? One disappointment for sure is the lack of hair pieces for the minifigures, though I'm guessing they left those out because of Zane not being able to use it. Definitely grabbing this down the line though, looks incredible.

Jang I think you might be over thinking it with the Easter eggs. I think that they are just Easter egg and none of the events actually happened in the movie universe. Keep up the good work on the vids
I looked it up, and the fact is that the real Junks had very few rigging lines, usually one or two lines at most per mast. Otherwise, thanks for the review and good job!
