This is true, inspiring LEGO design work. I didn't want to tackle making building before because of how brick intensive they are, however, this set proves to me that alternating between bricks and utilizing non-repetitive techniques can yield large and detailed looking buildings as well.

I've never bought a ninjago set but this would go nicely with my modular collection
I have to admit ... this set looks ridiculously great. And not just this set. Most of the Ninjago-Movie sets (especially the mechs, the green dragon and the Destiny's Bounty) are absolutely stunning, visually. I'm not exactly a fan of the whole Ninjago theme (it's not that i dislike it either, but as of today i mostly collect Lego Star Wars and some Lego Batman movie sets for good measure - and because i love the movie), but if i had some more money to spare, i'm pretty sure that's what it would go into.
Absolutely phenomenal set and review. Also, after seeing your tweet about having over 1.5 hours worth of footage for this review, it really does make me appreciate what you do so much more.
At 4:52, the yellow sign says "Visit Bricksburg",(from the original Lego Movie,) and the green sign has the Galaxy Squad logo and the letters GS.
This is properly the best lego set i have. I was incredibly fun to build and the details just amazed me all the time. I really recommend this set.

It's amazing how the designers packed such a huge amount of detail in such small spaces and builds, and that makes this a true work of art. It's probably expensive, but definitely worth the price.

❤️... i'm not a nịnago fan, but i'd buy this before i'd buy the Death Star.
Hesitating if i want to buy this set. Goods about this set:
● 4867 pieces for the price of $300 in USA is pretty cheap(Reasonable for my country as well at $400)
● Tons of details
● Cool instruction manuals
● Modular friendly.
What i do not like:
● The back area is kind of plain. The front is amazing, but when it comes to the back, it ruins it...
● When fitted with modular, front portion stands out and it is not very nice.
● Modular walkway cannot be linked properly.
● Height of 63cm is absolutely tall, but a disadvantage is you need a very tall shelf as well, especially for those without room spacing

I have no clue about any of the references to Ninjago in this build, but I also just love this build purely for the Japanese Inspiration and huge amount of detail!

I get a slight cyberpunk feeling from this set, and it looks amazing! If I one day get enough money to buy part of a lego city then it will definitely be this one. Also your videoes are fantastic, I always watch them before deciding what lego sets I should buy next! :)
I have never seen the Ninjago Movie, but just as a display set this looks so awesome with all the detail, especially since I love Asian/ Japanese architecture.

The 'Good Day Ninjago' room makes me nostalgic for when I stayed at a traditional hotel in Japan, Lego's done a really good job capturing the feel of the culture.
I stretched the building-time to one week, just because it was so enjoyable! Hands down one of the best sets Lego did that year.

I love this set. Just the whole civilian Ninjago environment is amazing. It does something that few sets outside of the City ones do anymore. It creates the world and people that the theme exists in.
BTW not to nitpick, but the recent Destiny's Bounty is the second largest minifig scale ship set. The only one bigger is Metalbeard's Sea Cow. The DB is actually larger in piece count and gross weight than the Imperial Flagship, although the flagship has taller sails. Ninjago City is the second largest "minifig scale" or minifig playable set. Only dwarfed by the newest UCS Millenium Falcon. And we only count that one because it now has an interior.
The UCS Millennium falcon is the 2nd biggest set, the first being The ultimate battle for Chima, with just over 10000 pieces. Only 2 were ever made, and were given as grand prizes for a contest.
Notice that the nano-figures in the comic book shop are the same color of every ninja.

I seriously want this set before it’s retired. I’ve always ignored the ninjago line, I’ve been a strict Star Wars collector but the Architecture on the ninjago buildings are beautiful, I just bought the city docks so I better commit to it! Thanks for the great reviews

I would love a response if you can, I'm 13, I've built the Ghost busters fire house, UCS Slave one, temple of airjitzu, and the new destiny's bounty are some of my most impressive builds, judging by the things I've built, do you think I will have problems building this set? I'm planing on getting it, but I'm a afraid of not being able to finish it.

I haven't really been invested in Lego recently, but this set made my jaw drop more than once. This may be the best Lego set... Ever. Just, ever. The detail, the size, the clever creative builds, the price per part ratio, the play features, the amount of minifigs and the detail of them. This is just remarkable. A masterpiece. I haven't bought a Ninjago set since Wave 1, but I'm tempted to drop the cash on this.

Watched this back when u posted it, and I'm now watching again after having just built this over the weekend. It is now one of my all time favorite builds and sets ever. The detail is AMAZING. the whole building experience was so great from opening the box to placing the puffer fish on at the end. My ONLY complaint about this set, if u could even call it a complaint, is that it is SO BIG that I am going to have to do some serious rearrangement in my Lego room to get this on display along with the Temple Of Ninjistu, the Ultimate Temple of Ultimate whatever it was called, and all my other Ninjago buildings, as well as leaving room for the dock set coming this summer. 11 out of 10 set.

Get this. Build this... but I would recommend deconstructing it somewhat, taking the builds and literally put them into your city. Incredibly nice. Stickers? Whatever. My opinion is that it's a nice set... I might buy it. But it would look kind of ugly in a city. It would just stand out.
