@ naw brother thank you. I’m not able to have an aquarium of my own right now although I would love to. So your videos help me relax and gain ideas and knowledge till the day I might be able to have my own.
I watched all. Its fascinating and peaceful to the point of relaxing. It might not be what you were hoping to do with the project but flexibility is key.. consider adding 2 or 3 more females and then just one male. You might find the females are more accepting of each other and the solo male finds that aggression towards him wont be x3 but probably less with the aggressor being distracted easier
@peaceofnaturee I believe so yes. Start with a couple more females first and just monitor. Do it in stages. You're experienced, don't want to teach to suck eggs, do the basics, monitor your water quality.. increase the regularity of small water changes on first introduction etc. Its a great project and I will continue to watch with interest.
As usual I watched to the end 😄 With all the beautiful, soft, decomposing leaf litter you likely could have lifted the cabbage to the surface and brushed all snails off in 1 swipe of your hand... Even the toothbrush might've been more effective hehe.😊 I've found healthy ramshorn shells to be surprisingly durable, both in and outside the aquarium 😅 Sorry your grand plans aren't quite working out right now 😢 but your blackwater tank is still looking very nice, would love to see some other life forms while Bonnie enjoys the single life. Hopefully you can breed apistos in the future, I am curious. Best of luck and blessings, whatever direction you decide on! Thanks for sharing! 🎉❤
Thank you so much! I kept the cabbage in the tank for about two hours, as leaving it longer could have affected the water quality. Since I had just done a water change before putting the cabbage in the tank, I didn’t leave it in for too long to avoid needing another water change.
I just add fresh raw cabbage and leave it in there. They can only eat the soft spots as it rots so it's kind of an automatic feeder that lasts for days. And it doesn't foul my water.
Maybe some dwarf Cory's or a dwarf pleco would like a clown pleco would be a good fit for this aquarium ? Amazing tank by the way ! Watched till the end !

@@mattbrennan647 I explained the situation to the breeder I got the fish from, and he said exactly what you mentioned. I’ll definitely do it the way you suggested next time. Thank you! 🙏🏻❤️
I keep the water at 25-26°C. If the room temperature is stable and suitable for the fish living in the tank, you might not need a heater. However, sudden temperature changes can make the fish sick, so I recommend using a heater.

Thank you so much. What you said makes a lot of sense, and I definitely want to try it. But do you think this tank will be enough for that many fish?

Thank you so much! I didn’t want to add any other fish because I want to breed my pair of Apistogramma, but if I change my mind, I might add some.

Great video! I watched it until the end. One question, why did you take out the cabbage after 2 hours?

He trying to remove snail 🐌
I do this maintenance too. Do you recommend owning two toothbrushes or is one enough?
Personally, I use one. You can wash it thoroughly after each use.

What’s happening with Bonnie! I need the next video!!!
great video made it to the end, would love to hear your voice tho instead of reading text
How did you color the water?
The botanicals visible in the tank are releasing tannins, which are causing the water to turn yellow.
Have you ever thought of putting your female in a different tank and letting a male establish dominance in the existing tank?
@@mattbrennan647 I explained the situation to the breeder I got the fish from, and he said exactly what you mentioned. I’ll definitely do it the way you suggested next time. Thank you! 🙏🏻❤️
I see a heater, it's there any water movement? Or is this heater on itself enough for the tank/apistogramma? Is it a ramirezi?
I keep the water at 25-26°C. If the room temperature is stable and suitable for the fish living in the tank, you might not need a heater. However, sudden temperature changes can make the fish sick, so I recommend using a heater.
I did, but why remove it while they are still feeding? Just curious?
