This was my first proper race spec buggy. I moved to this from the Tamiya Vanquish. It was second hand but came with alot of spares. The guy I bought it from sold it to me as he bought a Tomy Intruder. Tomy Intruder, there is one for you to get on the show, he was the only guy I knew that had one.
Looking forward to seeing all the built cars and what everyone does. I’ve still got the Parma Racing Cougar with the Alley Cat boy so May need to get one these to sit along side it
I absolutely love the way Schumacher separates the parts by step. I spend more time than I care to admit looking for the right size bearing or screw. I wish other companies would follow suit.
I agree. Started building mine and it's great to have all the parts for each individual step in a bag. No cutting off trees, no sifting through bags of screws. With the manual it's so easy to follow step by step, better than Tamiya and Kyosho. Lots of little empty bags and staples to throw away though. 😆
@@nigelbutters5769 I bet Mechanic After Hours would soon sort out screws, for Allen head countersunk screws...I still think Tamiya best to follow in regards to instructions, as I find you have to open bags that arent suggested in Kyosho builds to finish a section of the build..eg Ultima / Javelein / Mid
I didn’t think I would like this and didn’t preorder as the chassis looked super simple on the launch photos and most of the fun is in the build for me. But looking at this unboxing video had me questioning my decision, just look at all those bags! Looks like it will be a fun build!
When Gavin first announced these were getting released I had a hunt around and saw somewhere that Aus was getting a release date of the 9th of July.. So then I had a search for the cars and found Metro Hobbies had a pre order listing for them so I ordered one from them, still cant see anyone else in Aus listing them at all yet... Metro have been EXCELLENT in the past with anything I have bought from them too. Fingers crossed it is the 9th, I can't find where I saw that tho now after looking now..
I do like the rere Cougar but, I think I would rather have a Top Cat as it is a more desirable car! I did a full component, modified instruction manual and the full build of a custom XLS. It was a taxing job, but it came out beautifully! Take care man!!
Sold my Cougar 2 Works ten years ago and kick myself all the time. I might pick one of these up and have "something" close to the 2 Works. Maybe they will re-release the 2 Works?
Without being factious - can you fit basically the front end of the Cougar to the TopCat as a direct swap? I do like the laydown shocks, but the Orings just seem to perish within 6months, even by just sitting on the shelf doing nothing. Looks like the wing is also Oring based to the TopCat - dont like it - in regards to how easy they perish on the shelf without any driving!
Yes you can - I bought a second hand Cougar front end and fitted it. The only issue is the positioning of the servo as I think the chassis are drilled slightly differently.
I agree the stupid spammers are taking the fun out trying to share the hobby with others, I know in the FMS giveaway I had one respond to my comment that I promptly reported. Cool looking car and I would love to get one but I just ordered the Clod Buster and have blown my RC budget!
Forgive, I know you gave us an episode that went into the history, but Schumacher never did a re-re of the Top Cat? Even if they never re-release the entire buggy, the laydown front end assembly would be golden.
love your videos, old school RC guy, after my cat xls re release ill never own another Schumacher. honestly... my javelin, my boomerang, my avante, and even my unbuilt top force re release all run better than my xls, that being said... I bought every upgrade carbon fiber trick gear box. sank a bunch o money into it, Never again Schumacher. Never again
Actually got mine yesterday 👌😁 Can't manage to find the carbon front or rear shock mounts or pro transmission anywhere 🤔 🥺 If you know where I can find them it would be greatly appreciated 👍 Keep up the great content Gav 👏😎💪
Nice unboxing, I didn’t even notice the batch numbers on the box until I watched your video ;) mine is number 158 ;)

Yep the Tomy Intruder is a cool buggy.

It's a thing of beauty!! Mine is 189
Waiting for their arrival in the US.
Excellent unboxing video Rckicks!
Kit number 28. Great video yet again. 👏
It's got me back into RC! Kit Number 077
I got kit 048 & I can`t wait to get it built as I raced a couger 2 back in day happy days
I bought a Schumacher Cougar 2000 somewhere around 1996 and loved it. Had a 10T motor that used to rip 😄
Nice 👍🏻
This unboxing makes me appreciate Tamiya boxes/packaging much more.
Me too!!!
Ralphie
Missed out on the Top Cat so jumped on this one straight away. Mine is number 071.
Love all your videos Gavin. Just stopped by here to tell you that.
Thanks Tom. Kind of you to say as all the effort doesn't go into big viewer number vids, so it's nice to hear now and again :)
@@RCKickschannel You are welcome:) People like you and Tamiya legends have helped revive this hobby in a really positive way

It’s a different experience from say Tamiya that’s for sure.
Awesome Gavin. Nothing like a Cougar 🤣 Still no word of these in Aus yet

@@Benny_painter Perth Rc are getting some.
Not sure when the US will get them but I am really thinking about this one. Thanks for the video!
I have just placed my order, will have to see what number arrives!
Just got mine a few minutes ago. Mine is 104. Going to be a busy few days!!
I do like the rere Cougar but, I think I would rather have a Top Cat as it is a more desirable car! I did a full component, modified instruction manual and the full build of a custom XLS. It was a taxing job, but it came out beautifully! Take care man!!
Gavin got mine today.Mine is 060.
I've a Cougar 2000 in need of some love, will parts for the more recent releases fit?
Just got mine, number 114.
Sign me up! Hoping we see this in the States soon.
Got kit 116, pleased as punch can’t decide on what speed controller and motor to go for 🤔
I think it was to do with tuning the shocks at the front. No one was use to the rocker arm set up, higher spring rates was needed.
Laydown shocks are much harder to dial in fine adjustments when compared to a conventional stand up set-up.
Hi All , you lads that have the cougar , are you racing or is it used for park fun?
2 questions please. Who is Charlie and why the cap now?
Charlie is my editor and the hat was my fathers from the UK F1
Sold my Cougar 2 Works ten years ago and kick myself all the time. I might pick one of these up and have "something" close to the 2 Works. Maybe they will re-release the 2 Works?
Hi Gav. Cars are identical except for front end. Great cars
I've got the James Bond edition, kit 007 😎
Seems the batch number is varying so difficult to see which are lowest numbers??

Mine is kit number 236!
Use a staple remover, couple pound from any stationary shop.
Currently building mine, no. 100
You got number 100 from LandLModels ;)
Cheers.
Gauranga :-)
I would think that the Schumacher cougar was made to compete with the Team Associated RC10 buggy. That probably why it looks like an RC10. Thoughts?
I remember when that car came out it had lay down front shocks on it
The Top Cat. I’ve built one on the show 👍🏻
@@RCKickschannel oh yeah I forgot it changed the name when it went to the Next Generation
Mines kit 123 surely that's worth a sticker or 3 Gavin?
I agree the stupid spammers are taking the fun out trying to share the hobby with others, I know in the FMS giveaway I had one respond to my comment that I promptly reported. Cool looking car and I would love to get one but I just ordered the Clod Buster and have blown my RC budget!
062 for me 😊
Mines 036 so I take it that's number 36 not bad would on never of known that thanks
DPD just delivered mine kit number 096...
Let's hope that manual is better than the cluster Kyosho produced for the Optima mid.
I can’t wait for mine to come, especially when Amain Hobbies takes my money first 😭
If you are running it, what motor will you put in it?
i have access to a very low numbered kit, but i don't think it counts as i am related to an employee at schumacher
Is Schuy still using those small very pointed self tappers made of cheese Gavs?
I’m not sure on this one.
Mine is on back order.
I thought I may have a low kit number due to really early ordering. Turns out to be 241 😆
How about another competition for the highest number 😉
Forgive, I know you gave us an episode that went into the history, but Schumacher never did a re-re of the Top Cat?
Even if they never re-release the entire buggy, the laydown front end assembly would be golden.
Yes Schumacher did a rere Top Cat, that’s what mine is, the blue one in the video.

What was it that put you off the XLS?
Who's Charlie?
I had this car
My kit number is 230, a little too high I think 😆
My kit number is 059. Unfortunately the batch number is 84931😭
You didn't show anything I wanted to see what's in the bags
Kit 115 but can show you kit no:2 😉
I have seen no2 and number one will be going up as a prize soon. Number 2 is also signed. :)
RCKicks yeah my mate got no2, im hoping to win no1 at the raffel. Sighned aswell. 🤞

Actually got mine yesterday 👌😁
Can't manage to find the carbon front or rear shock mounts or pro transmission anywhere 🤔 🥺

Keep up the great content Gav 👏😎💪
Modelsport have the transmission but am yet to find the shock towers
I have 92 😁

As I said mine is 060 but the other number is different

Cougar 2000 was far better, wish they brought that one back 😔
I like to win but I don't have one .
Roll on pay day
I say that the day after payday lol
@@RCKickschannel 😂😂😂

Cougar?!? Breaking into a new demographic? Will these only be available to middle aged women?
I’ve got 84930-073 here!
Batch 84931 090
84930 033 won't get to build mine yet as off on holidaybobs this weekend.
Have a good time 👍🏻
