Should never be forgotten. People who fought & died for justice will never be forgotten.
So many heroe's, so many great singers.
Always loved this song and really appreciate the pictures to make the song have a deeper meaning. Thanks

@angelambarry she was one of the best singers I ever heard,and did lots of work for republican prisoners in Northern Ireland ,shehas a couple of great Cds out there

Thinking about this song after seeing shinners at the coronation, after all the martyrs for a free Ireland for their movements to end up like this.
for me this is the journey he goes on as the song progresses. he turns into a patriot and exactly the sort of person he laments at the start of the song.

@@Tn49532 That is not the point, it’s about singing the song the way it was written. If you don’t agree, plenty of other people’s songs to sing. Behan was forthright and let it been known that he didn’t want people changing the words of his song, to appease de Valera and his Political Party.
Fair it's
de Valera and Collins were both traitors who turned against the true Republicans for their own glory, fame and chance of power. Under Collins IRA men were executed and under Dev they were as well.
@@cathanmccann1769 Yes you could probably see it that way, there were wrongs done on both sides. The point is that the words of The Patriot Game was changed to appease de Valera😕.
