My first Miata was a 1991 in 1991. My 4th Miata was a 2001 in 2012. I can only imagine how great these cars are in 2023. Unfortunately my body cannot deal with low to the ground vehicles. I got my first speeding ticket on a red Miata. I’ve also owned many British and German sports cars but the Miata never let me down!
I've had my 2023 MX-5 RF GT for 15 days so far. Drove it to my shop today, about a 17 mile highway drive, and was shocked when I pulled into my driveway. The MPG average was 39.2! Wow!
The RF looks better with the top up, but the soft top looks better with the top down and it's a better experience overall, in my opinion...no wind buffeting, far better visibility, much simpler/quicker top operation, lower cost... so I would always choose the soft top. As far as GT or Club, I think the Club looks better (with the $4500 performance package) and I love the Recaro seats, but the GT has quite a few 'luxury' features that you don't get on the Club. I will probably buy a ND3 GT soft top manual, with aftermarket coilovers, anti-sway bars and exhaust, which should still cost less than a loaded Club.
Enjoyable review. Touched on all the major and minor points. It was good to see both models side by side. Leaning toward the RF GT because at age 74, the softer ride is more desirable. You mentioned that the wind buffeting above 65 MPH. I have no plans to spend too much time on the interstates above 65 and prefer quieter back roads anyhow. I like the RF option for security and quietness with the roof closed. Thanks for the review.
@Gregory - I just got a ‘23 Club RF in Deep Blue Mica at the end of April. Lucky for me, my local dealer had one in stock when I decided I wanted to get one. You’re gonna love it!
I just picked up a '22 soft top GT manual in snowflake white with the terracotta interior about 3 weeks ago. I LOVE it soooooooo much! I'm coming form a '12 Fiat 500 Abarth which I also loved. The only thing I'm not liking so far is the stereo. I can't get it work like I expect. It connects to Carplay wirelessly automatically when I get in, but not the "phone". However, in order to get to carplay I have to go through the APP menu and select "show carplay". I don't get the icon in the corner of the screen. Also if I want to use the Communication mode for the phone, I have to go through the menu every time, select, and reconnect to my phone which "ends this carplay" session. It won't do it automatically. I've tried removing the phone and adding it back in multiple times. The only thing I haven't tried is resetting the whole system. But I'm nervous I'll lose my satalite radio if I do that.
Sorry you're having the issues! I know you can reset the Sirius XM which will pull down the license for your radio. But, I might talk to your dealer on this one.
Beautiful car. And well built. But the engine is a disappointment. No torque at all. Type r, vw gti, Mercedes have 2.0L with about 250-300 hp. S2000 had 240 hp 20 years ago. Sold my 2020 BBR CLUB. Mazda wants to go upscale, Needs a real engine to compete with these other cars
Complete nonsense. Not every sports car needs to be a torque monster. In fact, the purest classic sports cars of the old days were always about revs, not torque. It's a totally difference kind of driving that I actually prefer.
Great vid thanks for taking the time to share it. Good to go side by side with the soft top vs RF.
I just bought a 2023 GT. Thanks for posting this. Good video!

Nice!
Thank you for being honest about wind buffeting. Thanks for showing difference in cubby sizes.

The ND MX5 was designed 10 years ago , however it’s NOT A COMMON CAR . it’s still fresh and people still wonder what it is . ❤
Well done sir! Great side by side comparison and overview. Thx

Awesome video thank you so much for your honesty and I can tell you still love you 2019! Some day I'm gonna have one!
Very nice video. You covered everything. I live in New Jersey. In April I ordered the Club model. 6 speed MT in deep blue mica. 💙 I cannot wait!!!
The Deep Blue Mica looks awesome!

Just got my RF with the BBR package(without the appearance package here in Europe). It's a stunner!
I love the look of the RF. But, the wind buffeting would drive me crazy.

Great video. Thank you!
4 things they should keep:
1. Light weight
2. Good handling
3. Manual transmission
4. Convertible body style.
The bulge on the passenger side is the bose sub! :)
You’re car is beautiful ;
Hey buddy have you heard anything about the 2024 ? Is it the same body style?
Rumor is a new front and rear bumper styling
Hello, I wanted to ask what oil you use in Mazda, 0w20 or 5w30, and whether it is Mazda oil or another one?
Do you have oil loss?
I use Royal Purple 0w20 and have no oil loss. If I tracked it more, I might go with 5w30.
@@Killobyte Thank you :) Regards

Mazda weighs 2300 lbs. That is important when you talk about hp and torque.
