This drum track is so clean. The tone of his kick and snare is literally the benchmark of what rock drums should sound like. The cymbals are so crisp and resonant. Damn.. Total perfection.
You can hear John growling and snorting , you better step aside because here comes the out-of-control freight train, the man was nothing but a beast, thank you John for what you've given us rest in peace my man
@Base Ball Led Zeppelin was a one-time-only deal, never to be recreated ever, a thousand years from now they will still reign supreme and that's a fact
@@markhernandez7600 I think the beautiful thing that supports your statement is they never took themselves seriously. They had no idea of the juggernaut they were creating for rock music which helped them explore different types of styles incorporated into their music.
Just sick!! He wanders in and out of the pocket with such ease exactly when its required. A little forward a little behind. But precise and with such groove
It’s the dynamics of the kick drum that no one seems to get right. If you listen to the main drum beat. Each double kick before the snare is about half the velocity of the syncopated crash on the and of 4
Two bands who released their own answer to punk Led Zep and Queen with this being Led Zep's version and the drums are not that different to Sheer Heart Attack. As well as being great there is a melancholy caveat to this. The great John Bonham passed away just over 2 years before the release of Coda but what a song to go out on. The normally laid back playing behind the beat of John Bonham is upended here and he is right on the beat and listen to that super fast right foot. He is driving this song and avoids the cliche 16th stroke rolls around the kit which early punks became famous for as many were limited and they could do little else. At the time of my first gig I could not even play a 16th stroke roll so using the great Topper Headon as inspiration I used the opening bars as Bank Robber as inspiration and over time this developed. At that time my thoughts of playing any Bonham tracks were far away except this one. Despite my love of it I never covered it with a band. Despite being a punk band we chose Cold Sweat and Stone Cold Crazy surrounded by Iggy Pop, Sex Pistols, Clash and Adverts covers. Well you gotta start somewhere.
I have a FLAC (949 kb/s) file. If you become my patron on Patreon, you will receive this file within a week. You can find the link to my page under the video or on the main account page.
Not to many people are more of a Zep fan than myself but I can't say that I like this. Would never give a Bonham track a thumbs down though. This is just a steady beat with no real groove. Whole Lotta Love, Fool in the Rain isolated tracks...now those have me feeling it.
I see what you're saying... this isn't one of Bonzo's more "explosive" tracks, but it's a testament to his skill and professionalism because not only did he give the band a solid foundation for the song, but had he done anything else it probably would have distracted from the song. And he still managed to sound uniquely Bomham too. Not bad!

Hammer of the gods. Best rock drummer ever . He kills this groove

Because he listened to the rest of the band
Brilliant and you can bonzo voice too as hes playing hard
Got me playing when I was 13, loved him rip
These isolated drum and percussion tracks also demonstrate the superiority of Paiste percussion; namely, the cymbal array.
Great effort John pretty damn clean

I think that's because of the tuning - nobody tunes their kick drum like this any more so you don't get the same variety of tones.
@@BenTurkMusic I would tune my kick like that if I had a shallower bass drum but I’m stuck with a 22x18
His cymbals always follow the melody
THANK YOU
beast mode.as always.
man ..wish i had this 20 yrs ago
I actually wanted to add a comment to the young fellow who plsyed along with the song on his own video. He was actually good. Cudos cudos cudos..
Amazing

Could you do Achilles last stand?
Unfortunately, I don’t have this track.
@@kiboko_drummer Then GET IT! (Ha Ha)
Please do Were Gonna Groove
I'm sorry, but in the near future I can not do it.
What a king

GOAT
What about Walter's walk
I can do that for you ;)
Bonzo goes punk!
The beat sometime remind me of iron maiden drum beats(2 minutes to midnight)
Bonham can make the most boring/repetative beat interesting.
If you listen to this drum beat it sounds very similar to heavy metal in the 90s and late 80s
Exept in the 80's and especially the 90's they lost the swing.
❤❤❤

I agree , but still His power & stamina still amazes me,
If you were a drummer and tried playing it you may have a different opinion...

You isolated the drum track from the original recording?? by using what
Yes, this is the original track.
Great, Did you use audacity to extract it ???
No. I use Audacity only to mix the tracks I have.
kiboko I understand you had the original drum track, right? So you didn’t have to isolate it yourself, am I right?
I don’t like the mixing on coda because there’s too much treble. Other than that they’re great songs.
