  • In this video I block sand the primer where I did all the body work. I started with 220 grit paper on my blocks and when done I used 320 on my finish sander.

Hello. 3:50 This is a great way to check for panel flatness, but i guess it should be wiped out with clean towels before it dries out.

What is your grit set up from start to finish in the blocking stage?

Greg, what kind of prep spray you used to make the prime shines? I want to buy some, can you tell me more info about this product?

It’s just prep sol or wax and grease remover. All brands are the same. Once your primer is sanded smooth, any wax and grease remover will give it a good shine to check for straightness but it will dry in usually less than a minute. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching

Napa can be used as a paint thinner or a solvent for other things but I don’t think it’s the same as prep sol. It’s probably a distant cousin. I’m not sure it should be used as wax and grease remover. Good to hear from you Richard

9:47 It could be months down the road but , What grit should the painter use before painting. I think 320 on a finish sander or 600 wet if sanding by hand.

Hi Petar. I like using 400 grit on a finish sander before paint but every painter is different. On the prep sol, if you’ve using it to check body work and you’re going to continue sanding, wiping it down isn’t necessary but if you’ve done sanding I wipe it down before repriming just to get rid of the residual dust for a smoother surface and any possible contaminates. Thanks for your comments and for watching.
