1970 Chevelle Parts 6; More Bondo Work

This 1970 Chevelle needs some work on the rear panel between the deck lid and rear glass. It's had some prior work done to it that looks rough. Also when the new quarter panels were welded on, the seams to this panel were not finished properly. I'll get this panel looking factory.

wow, this car is coming along. I have never brazed, but have oxy welded and soldered.

If you can oxy weld and solder, then you can braze. Give it a try sometime. I still enjoy brazing but just don’t get many chances at it. Thanks for watching

I never would have thought that was actually brazed in, did GM do that back then?

The quarter panel and rear panel has mating flanges that the factory spot welds from underneath but is nearly impossible to duplicate when the quarter is replaced. By brazing on the topside, the brass will flow into the seam and will be seam sealed to give a factory appearance. Thanks for watching Richard.

Those GM A bodies 68-72 always collected water there underneath the stainless trim . Bad design. No drainage 😢

it’s going good. Waiting on some parts which should be arriving this week. Since I have the engine bay emptied, I took the opportunity to paint it all the proper color. The next time you get to see it, you will notice some improvements lol.
