What a great interview! And a timely one at that, as I am in the middle of reading the biography ‘Peter Asher: A Life in Music’. I got a chance to meet and work with Peter in 2011, when he produced the woodwind recording sessions for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ at Hans Zimmer’s studios. I was one of 2 flutists that week, and the other flutist and I brought our Peter & Gordon LP’s and a ‘Best-Of’ CD for Peter to sign. He was genuinely gobsmacked that we even remembered who he was, from the ‘British Invasion’ and such. We all had a nice chat, and he was a perfect English gentleman and an efficient and knowledgeable producer for our woodwind sessions, thanks to his having played the oboe in his formative years under the tutelage of his oboist mother, a Prof. at the Guildhall School in London.
Thanks for posting this marvelous interview!
