Jaime explains the "Eee" scream exercise (as taught to him by Jim Gillette). This is the one voice strengthening exercise that Jaime uses when preparing for glass breaking television shows and is useful to develop those high metal screams. The full explanation (and video) is available in his book "Raise Your Voice" at thevoiceconnection.com

"its not rocket surgery"
Anselmo's top notes and most of his higher screamy notes(like on the Rock The World chorus for example) were falsetto ...Sometimes you can't really differentiate his falsetto from his other high mix singing but if u listen to live bootlegs from the early days you can tell when hes in falsetto ..Reinforced falsetto is more of something that King Diamond does and that's when you try to force resonance into falsetto and blowing up alot of air to make it really thin and witchy sounding
I was trained by Jim Gillette and Elizabeth Sabine, who both applied classical technique to rock vocals, so I would say I have simply modified classical technique to rock and pop;)
If both James La Brie and Tony Harnell endorses this guy then that says pretty much everything! Awesome!
Make a new Video Jaime, your technique rocks! :D Hugs from Brazil
Great video.
The student dude sounds like a proper soprano, and then some!
nice dude! this concept you just talked about really clicked with me.
BTW I got your book
amazingly awesome!
@rovingdesertfox I was actually taught classically and just transferred what I learned to rock.
Glad you noticed that:)
nniiiiiiicccee!!! Jaime, what was the highest note the student reaches? Soprano B is a B5?
head voice and falsetto arent the same thing...the reason peopl think they are the same thing is cuz they both resonate around the same area in the head falseto is a breathy very airy tone and has limits dynamic wise and head voice has a more fullerand richer tone
how would you describe phil anelmo's high notes on early pantera albums? it seems like a head voice/falsetto hybrid type thing. would that be like a reinforced falsetto?
Rocket Science + Surgery = Rocket Surgery...It's a joke;)
Hi Jamie, I don't know if you heard of Brett Manning but he demonstrates an exercise he calls the pharyngeal. Is this the same as reinforced falsetto?
make's sense :D!
lol there was a beat frequency there.
What happens if u get a lil
dizzy?
The keyboard stand even looks like a Saturn rocket. Is this a setup?
Go on you got me, you can come out now
that's pretty cool.. and it actually works, wow!! but i do have something to ask.... will i crap myself if i push down? lol...
@GaryProVox yer i can only get that high with my cods abducted and zipped, which is kinda whistle isnt it, my falsetto wont go higher than half of what he does
Hey there' i'm confused, is this falsetto with a cutting tone applied or some sort of adducted head voice? :)
I was a B5
so what's the difference between head voice and falsetto? :P
how is one meant to get those highs even in falsetto, at about 4:45 my voice cracks up into squeaks, i'm disappointed with myself, can you advise
I did that on purpose;) I use that saying all the time;)
lmfao " all the sudden i got this big sound like!.HEY.! O.O
Soo its basically what some people chose to call Head voice?
heheh...now he sounds like Prince :)
haha i just noticed
Chewbacca at 2:59? :D
im pretty sure that guy is not a newbie, he must have been practicing long time ago
Yeah but this "reinforced falsetto" they are talking about sound pretty much like what I call head voice.
You cant scale up into true falsetto from what I know.
Its not "Rocket Surgery"?????
how do i get past 4:57, i am sounding squeaky and fried
thats way to high for most people, what is he female or what
lol i can do this xD
you'll hear a lot of answers but the truth is pure head voice is falsetto
"CUT!".... no let's just carry on knowing I've just made a terrible error
Lol
Yep. It's not brain science!
well he didn't mess up the expression. it was done purposely. Jim Gellete taught him that too. no he didn't...maybe he did. I dont know.
Ehh.....yeah okay.
Wait whats a true truesetto then?
brain science there Jaime? lol
Ruined the vid for me all I can think about is the technicalities of cutting open a 12 metre Saturn second stage S-IV
Better hit the can before you sing;)
You take a break.
