@@ThomasC Sure hope you record it if you do :) I'm subscribed and ready! I've just bought a BMW motorbike having taken a lot of inspiration from your video actually. A K75, the price of the R80's seems quite substantially higher. I think the only thing that lets the K75 down is the tank. Not sure how easy/hard that is to change but I haven't seen many examples of K75 with different tanks. Not sure what I've got myself in for here. Thanks for the reply. Seriously great video. Thanks Jim
Very nice build. Tank color indeed a lot better than gold option. Think the bike would look awesome if you’d replace all the chrome parts for mat black ones. Still a great bike though. 👍🏼
Bet you had more of an attachment with the bike you styled and worked on than the other one you bought, apart from the engine configuration,, you get a sense of purpose and especially since you did a few long trips,, before you sold it,, looking forward to the next build 👌👌👌
eliade66 I replaced it with a YSS spring, but in a later stage. In the video of my Luxembourg trip you should be able to see it. It made a ton of difference!
Yeah, I could sense it in some instants of your Luxembourg trip video. It indeed makes a good difference! I was also impressed with your fire starting technique! You should patent it! :)) Drive safe and beware to the sand on the way when steering! :))
Thomas C look forward to see a new project. My father was getting too Old to ride hos r80rt, so i bought it and is starting to figure out what to do with it.
Thomas, watched all your videos with interest and am building my own scrambler now. I can’t work out which exhaust and muffler system you used, as the mufflers you bough first, stuck out (don’t like that either) and you said you’d change them for a full system. What did you order?
I ordered a full exhaust pipe set that you usually find on the older style R80. Those older ones (pre ´83) don´t have a catalytic converter under the frame and just go straight to the back, where they flare up and outward a bit. The ´newer´ (1984-1995) don´t flare up as much and they point outwards a lot more, so with standard mufflers they don´t look as good. If your bike is post-´84 it will have the newer center stand and that doesn´t work with the older pipes, so you´ll have to take the center stand off like I did, apart from that there´s no real downside.
Hey I just finished watching your video I have a BMW R 60 myself but I want to turn into a scrambler inspired by the job that you did. I don’t know much about names of motorcycle parts and things like that it would be great if you could actually if you could give me an idea of names and parts on how you build your custom BMW.
I am building one from the same bike. Where did you relocate the ignition key? Are those Heidenau tires? What sizes are the tires? Great build by the way good job 👍
Just spent the day working on mine and thought Id cone for some inspiration. Not nearly finished but getting there. Nice bike!

@@ThomasC OHHHH MY GOD - you did this to the bike????? Shame on you!

Stock r80rt’s will be worth money one day because of the popularity of these types of builds.

This video is a great tutorial. Bravo.
Awesome work!
great job man!
Cool video...congrats!!!!!
Badass and efficient. Hell yes.
What a transformation
Beautiful! The only thing I would change is the back suspension, which looks somehow small or flimsy for a rather bulky bike. Great job!
eliade66 I replaced it with a YSS spring, but in a later stage. In the video of my Luxembourg trip you should be able to see it. It made a ton of difference!

Too long ago I'm afraid... but I just bought a new R80 as a project so videos will folow soon! :-)
Thomas C look forward to see a new project. My father was getting too Old to ride hos r80rt, so i bought it and is starting to figure out what to do with it.
@@abcon awesome!
Greetings from Poland ✌️
Nice job 👍👍👍👍👍
You did it!
Great job , which exhaust are you using, thanks
Good job, although I prefer the gold version 😉
me too
Good result but geez the previous R80RT looked near mint! I’ve got a 1980 R100s fully restored to original & no way could I do this to that! 🤔
geniales Video, echt schön geworden das BIke.
how much did you spend on this project total?

Good job!)
Is it possible not to change the subframe and make it look good? And does vonzeti sell the seat for the original subframe?
I love this video 😍
*Very nice!*
👏 👏 👊 💥
Magnifique beau travail
What size tires are you running?
Where abouts did you get the rear foot pegs from? They’re really nice
My dream bike 😍❤️
wow,,, i jst loved it...!
How did u get the megaton mufflers to sound so delicate? Those mufflers are LOUD!
Damping whool and DB killers in them. The whool didn't last long though
Wow😍 wished I could do that
Everyone could!
Then maybe I should consider building my own dream bike for when I turn 22
Send me a picture when it's finished! :-)
I will, just have to wait a while. Still 17 years old
I am building one from the same bike. Where did you relocate the ignition key? Are those Heidenau tires? What sizes are the tires? Great build by the way good job 👍
What color is this? I'ts very nice!
How much was total project? And did you list what you got ? Can you post it pleasse? Thank you!
