Wow. Thank you for this reply. I would have never thought to take a look at the beam until you mentioned it in this video. I've been using 270lbs regularly on a much lighter quality pulldown in my home gym without any bending. But it has a 2nd upright that probably prevents it, which the Powertec doesn't have. I owe you a protein shake if our paths every cross. You saved me a lot of money. Thank you, again!

@@Radio1399 Thanks, really helpe me make an informed decision and ended up purchasing this. Also looks like you can use it for a belt squat don't you say? Since the seat can be moved
That always seems like the biggest concern with "made for home gym" equipment. They go light on the gauge of the steel for shipping. On hack squat of my levergym workbench I can literally twist the arms if I shift the weight on my shoulders when squating and I don't want to be under it when it gives.
Could u use it for belt squats when moving seat away since low pulley will pretty much be under you? I don't know if seat will get I the way?? I saw this other guy doing good belt squats with a lat pull down similar to this one but he completely removed seat. Do u still have the problem of top bending?
I recently tried doing belt squats and they are surprisingly effective on the quads. Using lighter weights and more reps are preferred because of having to start in the down position. So far I have not had a problem with the top bending.
@Radio 1399 can unplease post a video demonstrating belt squats?? If they are not that cumbersome to do on the powertec lat pull down I will sell my titan selectorized lat pull down and buy the powertec. If not then I will just buy squat max md
Honestly not on a regular basis. In my opinion this is a light duty piece of equipment that’s great for “home gym” use. It very well may hold up with the 300 lbs. consistently but to me that’s something I would consider with commercial gym quality equipment.
Same for me and my garage. I wanted the Rogue Lat/Low Row machine. I even called and asked Rogue if they made custom heights, unfortunately they didn’t so this was the next best thing. It’s held up great so far but I usually don’t go above 160lbs.
@@chonghan1519 I hadn’t thought about it. But I have a few other things people have asked about so what I might do is a video quickly reviewing the pad along with the rest of them.

Hey THANK YOU because I have the Powertec Muti GYM FOR 9 yrs now and have the lat attachment for the muti but was wondering about this one which is bigger after watching your video I won’t be buying that.
little late to the video. but been looking to get one of these myself to add onto the powertec power rack. i guess the bending wouldnt be a problem in that case since it anchors onto the power rack at the bottom and at the top ( to the part that u got bending )
Very good review with a lot of valuable insight 👍 love the red spray paint 👌looking to get something like this in the near future. Can u use the weight horns as band pegs...maybe wrap/loop the band around the back leg?
Looking at the angle of the weight horns and back legs I don’t think that would work. But that would be a great addition if pegs were welded to the bottom of the machine.
Great review. I thought about buying this machine myself. I'm glad I went with the lever gym and your review justifies that this was not the better of the two. That bending looks very visible even in the video. The cable tower on the lever gym is much sturdier its a solid piece that slides into the center of the base. I have the 2020 Black lever gym with all the attachments for the workbench and so far it is a solid machine. Your review on the lever gym was one of the considerations I took.
That’s what’s so surprising is that the levergym is such a solid piece of equipment. They underachieved with the lat pull down machine. Also thanks for supporting the channel!
Thanks for taking the time to share this, brother. I may be going for Life Fitness used piece instead now. I've found them for about $1500 and it'll be worth it to know it won't bend like this piece. I hope you get it replaced or refunded under warranty.
Thank you very useful info; honestly the machine looks solid and as you said, it has a great price. I just don’t like the fact that it bends. Thank you for posting.
Good review! A question, how tall are you, and are you able to get a full stretch on the top of the lat pulldown movement. I like to use the lat pulldown to decompress my back after deadlifts. Im 6ft tall and depending on the lat pulldown machine, I find I can fully extend my arms and let the weight stack hang to get a stretch whereas other machines the upper arm is too low and cant get any stretch on my lats. How is it on this machine?
I’m 6’2”. The height is pretty good. I would like it to be a little higher to get a great stretch at the top but as it stands it’s good. I find I have to lean back just a little when I go for a full on stretch to decompress.
Thank you for your review. A lot of great info in this video. My family went with your recommendation of not purchasing this piece of equipment. We are looking for a good home gym lat pull down machine.
I posted a picture of the extension with a level to show how bad the bend is on my IG @radio1399. Update #1 (2/24/21): Powertec reached out to me through Instagram and we had a FaceTime conversation about the bending issue. The call went well and we believe it is an isolated issue. They will be sending me a replacement beam. Update #2 (3/3/21): The replacement beam has arrived. They want me to send the old back to them so they can have their QC look at it.
Good video. My dip accessory handles are severely bent as well. But it was a welding issue. Also one time they sent the chest fly accessory and I couldn’t fit in the horns because of their welding. So while they make good products I’ve had some welding issues.
Another great video and sorry this one isn't working out for you. Good catch though; especially this soon. Interestingly enough, when you watch that video of big dude doing tricep pulldowns with the rope (PIP), you can see that bar at the top flexing! Seems like it needs some cross bracing or just thicker gage steel.
Thanks and you are 💯% correct. I mentioned those exact possible reasons for the bending when I made the video but I must have edited them out, probably because I began rambling. But yes, either they should use a heavier gauge steel or brace the front some way.
Nice review brother...the bend in that upper section is totally unacceptable. It compromises the entire system, and it will fail ultimately...which becomes a major safety and liability issue. I'm a stickler with details and quality, and I'm surprised when I also get product that is shipped out without a thorough quality inspection. I've also seen 3" x 3" tubular pieces that are supposed to be welded at 90 degrees shipped out of a factory being totally outside of tolerance, and just a few degrees off compromises the integrity (strength) of the unit, and what it was originally designed for. So, let me know how things went with Powertec...they should stand behind their product hopefully. And, again, nice vid.
