hi Keith, "there's something about Denzel in every movie he does" I loved this film , another great upload and with the comparison shots. Thanks Keith, Patrick.
Hey Patrick. I am actually sitting here thinking to myself about Denzel Washington and has he actually made a bad movie. Amazingly enough nothing comes to mind. It's a testament to how good he is
Remember watching this on dvd when it first came out, the scene where he leaves ethan hawk alone in the heavies kitchen must be one of the most suspenseful i"ve seen in a movie.
Hey David. When I originally shot this video I actually spoke about that scene and I forgot to put it back into this video. That scene gets me every single time I watch it. It's amazing how one insignificant scene can drastically affect another later on in the movie.
Another great movie which is way underrated is Harsh Times from David Ayer. He was the writer of Training Day. Definitely a must watch and I hope it’ll get a 4K release too some day. Denzel in Training Day was legendary. Love your videos btw. Thanks to you I’ve bought that special edition german release of The Running Man in 4K. Greets from Belgium
Thanks for the heads up on that movie harsh times. I've honestly never heard of it before but as you said it's written by David Ayre and that alone has me intrigued. I'm sitting here trying to think of a bad movie that Denzel Washington has done and I honestly can't think of one. It's a testament to how good he is. Thank you so much for the incredibly kind words and I'm so happy that my running Man video inspire you to go out and pick it up. All the best my friend
I picked this up yesterday. Looking forward to checking it out.
It does have a very interesting colour palette to it. I'd be curious to hear what you think when you check it out. Thanks for stopping by David
Great review Keith 👍.... looking forward to getting this.
I think you'll be happy with what you see Roy. Looks amazing on 4k if you're willing to forgive the green palate. Thanks for checking it out
One of my all time favorite action movies!
I was so glad when i came upon this limited editon-thingy because i thought it would be packed with extra material and maybe even the soundtrack, but noooo!
2 music videos an alternate ending + some extra scenes if i read that correctly.
I already have the old school version and i don't think i will be paying the 40£ it costs here in Norway🇳🇴
Thank you for the upload👍🏻👍🏻
Yeah it was a bit disappointing in terms of extra material. I'm almost certain it's a hell of our cheaper over here. Almost certain I might have seen it on Amazon Italy for around 25 to 30 pounds. Thankfully the 4K picture looks absolutely beautiful on it. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and check it out
Hi Keith. Thanks for review,I love this movie.I do love the artwork and colour design on this set.Was surprised to see you show there was no booklet and only four postcards, but I do think the postcards are great stills.Though I agree it looks rushed it's still a must have for collectors as this film really is something special. Thanks again Keith.
I know I sounded a little upset by this edition but I would rather have it than a standard release. The artwork looks beautiful and the Steelbook is quite nice it's just a shame it's the exact same as the outer box. Thankfully the 4K picture looks remarkable and I think that's what's most important in the end. As always Brian thank you so much for stopping by. I really appreciate all your support my friend
Thank you Keith.
Thanks Cheekster
nice unboxing. agree with you. hope they will get back to old strengths. good movie for sure. happy to own it in 4k, but i will switch the steelbook with my (i think) zavvi steelbook. from back when they produced premium looking steelbooks
Well the next two Batman movies from Joel Schumacher are out in two weeks and we'll see how they look. I'm hoping it was just a one off for this release. Thank you for stopping by my friend
It's just a great film. I got the set myself, and I do wish they wouldn't use the same art for the steelbook, but it does look nice. My guess for the green tint is that they wanted it to look more gritty. Great unboxing Keith.
It's definitely Warner Brothers laziest attempt I've seen so far. I have never seen them use the same art work on the outer box as the Steelbook before. I hope we don't start seeing more of this in the future. Thanks for stopping by Aaron
Great Channel 👍
Wow thank you so much. Very kind of you
Very nice Collectors set👍 I had a look at the 4k the transfers look very good , interesting to use a blue/green tint to it but it works. The Sound is great too , Easily Denzel's best film brilliant
Hey Martin. It's a very strange colour palette for the movie but like I said in the video I always enjoyed movies with that kind of colour palette. That movie The Ring in particular looks fantastic. It's all down to personal preference in the end and I had little to no issues with it. Thanks for stopping by
yea agreed but i think it brings out more detail in a strange way I can see why they did was it intentional I'm not convinced, the Dolby atmos is loud I thought.
Yeah the Dolby Atmos sounds great even though it might be a little overkill for a movie like training day. But I'm not complaining
Very nice set apart from the laziness with steel book ! Corner cutting is not good when you still pay top $$$. I think Ethan Hawke is such underrated actor ! He has been around for ever like Kevin Bacon , they seem to be able to act in all genres !! Nice one as always Keith & thanks for sharing with us . 🇮🇪🇦🇺💪👍🙏
Hey Conor. I'm a huge fan of Ethan Hawke and as you said he is very versatile. I actually like a lot of the horror movies that he's done like the black phone and sinister. Actually I thought he was fantastic in The Purge as well. Yeah it looks like Warner Brothers are cutting a few corners and I'm hoping it's only for this release and not for future editions. I'm going to know very soon because I have my two Batman editions coming from them in the next week or two. Thanks for stopping by my friend
At least you guys got a nice box and some extras. We didn't even get a collector's edition in the US. Though, the steelbook we did get is really nice and much better than Zavvi's.
I think I seen the Steelbook you were talking about and that was the steelbook I was talking about in the video. I don't understand why we didn't get that one instead of the one we got with this set. It's a shame because it's a beautiful Steelbook
Good review, as ever. Will probably wait for a price drop - expensive month for 4ks especially how so many are increasingly US only releases (Kino/shout).
I was only just checking out some of shout and Kino recent releases and I completely understand where you're coming from. Way too many out at the moment and ones head could spinoff trying to decide which ones to pick up. But thank you so much for stopping by. Really appreciate all your support
Another excellent collectors edition. Thank you Keith
It's great to get a nice release of Training Day and even though I was slightly underwhelmed by it im still very happy to have it. Thank you so much for checking it out
Great video Keith ,the set does look a bit underwhelming with the extras and artwork. As you said it does feel to have been a bit of a rushed rolled out effort, especially when you see the same artwork templates on the outer box and steel book in different colours. The green pallet in the ultra hd probably gives that comic book/graphic novel vibe colour scheme to the screen,it looks well from the initial shots you out up. One of my favourite Denzil Washington’s film ,great to see him win the Oscar although at the time I remember he wasn’t the favourite to win as Russell Crowe was a shoe in for his performance in “A Beautiful Mind” but then a few weeks before the award ceremony,Russell went out for a few bevvies and ended up in a bit of bother which didn’t go down too well with the Academy jury!!!
Like I said in the video Mike normally with Warner Brothers editions they will always have a completely different looking steel book but for some strange reason with this release they opted for the exact same as the outer cover. I really hope this is not the beginning of Warner Brothers cutting corners because they had such a wonderful Year last year and I was hoping they would continue with it this year. As for the movie itself it's definitely up there when it comes to my favourite Denzel movies. I was sitting here tonight and I honestly can't think of a bad movie from him. Even his mediocre movies are great. If that makes any sense at all. Thank you so much Mike for stopping by. I really appreciate it my friend
Have to admit Keith I didn't get this set. I'm getting fed up of just postcards in a set it's becoming lazy and I think you're right why didn't they use the other steelbook in set 😂🙄 great video as always mate
To be honest I don't mind postcards in a release but there has to be something else as well with them. Like I said in the video Warner Brothers normally have booklets or posters but no sign of any of that and then you also have the exact same artwork on the Steelbook. I am not one bit surprised you opted not to get it. I really hope this is not the start of Warner Brothers cutting corners
Buying this today
You're going to love the 4K transfer on this one Brendan. The edition itself is a little lazy especially when you compare it to previous Warner brother releases.
@@millerman9991 haven't seen this movie in over ten years, maybe more. Watched it a few days ago on HBO, and was blown away all over again. Easily top ten for me. Then I learned the 4k was coming out so it's a no brainer
Isn't it amazing how you can see a movie for the second time and it feels like you're watching it for the first. It doesn't happen too often but it's great when it does
I just watched this today. Love this movie.
It really is a great movie and Denzel was worthy of his Oscar win. Thank you for checking it out
@@millerman9991 Yup I had it on DVD but I lost it need to get another copy and I'm planning to get all Blu Ray 4K and Steelbook editions :)
I would imagine this edition is going for relatively cheap now so hopefully you can pick it up.
@@millerman9991 I have my own Visa card but under some circumstances my mother is holding on to it right now but she told me I can have it on myself in the near future as a part of agreement if I do better with my home chores and stuff like that. But yes I hope it becomes cheaper in the future.
@@millerman9991 When it comes to me collecting movies I prefer dvd format mainly but I still love Blu Ray, 4k and steelbook
Steelbook same as outer box and 4 postcards damn. You're right Keith, I hope they rectify that for the next releases, we got so many good ones last year. Of course we know the batman ones coming are lazy aswell now I think of it. The 4k was so much more colour vibrant.
Yeah Steve this is a worrying sign when it comes to Warner Brothers. I have the two Batman editions pre-ordered and their does seem to be a bit more with them editions than this one. Someone mentioned it in the comment section tonight that maybe because of the 100 anniversary we might start seeing one or two lazy efforts particularly this year. I'm hoping I'm wrong but we will have to wait and see
@@millerman9991 That's a good shout cause they're probably really busy for the whole year and I could see that happening.
Hi Keith a great film i have ordered the one at 24 99
Incredible picture and sound 🔊
Hey Mike. Great to hear you picked it up yourself and you are going to love the 4K picture on this. By far the best it's ever looked. Thanks for stopping by my friend
Absolutely Ken
Its easy to see why Denzel won the oscar for this movie, he played such a nasty piece of work, I love this one Keith. Nice artwork aswell. Even though you love this movie Keith, you can hear it in your tone you are not completely happy with this one. Thats ashame because its such a good movie.
Unfortunately it was very hard to not be somewhat disappointed with this edition especially when you consider everything that I picked up from Warner Brothers in the past. Thankfully the 4K transfer looks remarkable and that's the most important thing in the end. It would have been a right kick in the teeth if it was a terrible looking transfer. Unfortunately they can't all be winners Gary and hopefully this is not the start of something when it comes to Warner Brothers and cutting corners. I will know soon enough when I get my two Batman editions in the next week or two. Thanks so much for stopping by my friend
@@LennyNero2019 Cheers for the heads up.
Good video Keith 👍 but not a film I rate so definitely not picking this up, keep up the good work 👍
I completely understand that John but a huge thanks for stopping by even though you're not a fan of the movie. I really do appreciate all your support my friend
Not seen this since release , I don't own Blu-ray so I might get Blu-ray as I don't know if I will love it ,
I think just for the performances alone from Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington it's definitely worth revisiting. I hope you do look into it Stuart. Thanks for stopping by
@@millerman9991 IL have a look on eBay pre-owned I think first
Just bought it for £4:38 free P&p pre owned
Happy Days Stuart. I hope you enjoy it
Nice review Keith. I personally love the new colour grading. The blu ray is far too cold and it feels like the greener, warmer palette was how the movie should have always been presented. I agree that the pack itself is rather uninspired, but being honest (whilst I fully respect those like yourself who enjoy collecting special editions) I tend to just buy standard editions anyway, so that doesn’t bother me personally.
Hey Graham. Just like yourself I really enjoy the colour palette on this 4K release. Like I said in the video I'm always a fan of the green tint colour pallet that you see on movies like the Matrix and the ring. I know it's going to frustrate a few people out there but I quite enjoyed it and when you compare it to the Blu-ray it truly is night and day. The collector's edition is quite poor if I'm completely honest and I've seen so much better from Warner Brothers and I'm hoping this is not the beginning of them cutting corners. But as you said you have nothing to worry about. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking it out my friend
@@millerman9991 Yes that would be a huge shame for collectors of the WB releases. I know you’ve had a lot of praise for past releases. Perhaps with their 100th anniversary going on and all of the releases surrounding that, they have spread themselves a little thinly of late. I picked up 3 releases in HMV at the weekend (all of which were only £17.99 each) - Fatal Attraction, Benedetta and the Untouchables. Fatal Attraction wasn’t a particularly great transfer, but I don’t own on BR so took the plunge. Benedetta was great though, which bags of detail and good colour and contrast. From what I understand the transfer of The Untouchables is very good and to be honest it’s one of my favourite films, so looking forward to watching that tonight :).
Just like yourself Graham I don't own fatal attraction on Blu-ray so I definitely will be picking it up on 4k. I just want to get the right price. I don't fully understand why I haven't picked up the Untouchables yet because it's going for a fantastic price on Amazon Italy where you get a beautiful Steelbook with it as well. I'm sure that will be a future purchase as well. That's actually a good point by the way you made about Warner Brothers and their 100th anniversary. That probably would explain it
@@millerman9991 Fatal Attraction is certainly worth a purchase. I’m not saying it’s a bad transfer, just rather variable. Some scenes look great, but others a bit disappointing. I can’t imagine the Blu Ray looking much different, but for those like ourselves (who don’t own the BR) it makes sense.
I completely understand where you're coming from and I've had numerous 4K transfers like that. It's going to be a big upgrade over my DVD regardless of how bad the transfer is
nice video i think the collector's edition is such a let down for it price great film just a pitty they did not put more thought in to the collrctor's edition
The good news is I was able to get on Amazon Italy for €32 where if you buy it on zavvi I think it was over £40. But it's definitely one of Warner Brothers weakest edition. Thanks for stopping by Danny. I really appreciate it
I’m sure the blu ray in the new set has been remastered also. The old training day blu ray was one of the first ever blu ray’s to be realised, so the picture and sound quality wasn’t the best compared to others.
Yes you're absolutely correct the Blu-ray was remastered and I probably need to look into that and just see what it looks like. Be curious to see if it has the same color palette as the 4k.
Love this film!! Ain’t watched in donkeys which is embarrassin!!🤦🏽♂️‼️ I used to watch it loads!!
You probably know this.. it’s Denzel’s personal favourite 🤩‼️ I’ve gotta grab this as I’ve only got the FIRST dvd release 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️‼️ ima get it from ZAVVI🤞🏽‼️
It's a stunning movie Alexander and one you should definitely revisit and if you do try to pick up the 4K release of it because it looks stunning. No surprise that it's denzel's favourite movie because he's phenomenal in it. Thanks for stopping by my friend and I hope you pick it up
@@millerman9991 Mate.. it’s taken massive amounts of Will Power not to press my thumb to that APPLE PAY [Home] button😅‼️ not jus for this.. but at least 6 other things! An I’ve already pre ordered a few things coming in about 24 days - one of em been the SECOND SIGHT: Texas Chainsaw Massacre special collectors edition! I’ve only ever seen the film once and I didn’t like it🤷🏽♂️‼️ I wanted to revisit it as I LOVE the remake! Plus I’m due a second sight pick up 🤣 so why not!? 🤦🏽♂️‼️ btw my car is due the end of this month and jus about got the £ ready for that too!🤦🏽♂️😅‼️ that’s WHY I can’t pull the trigger 😬‼️‼️🤣🤣🤣
Hey Alexander. I am the exact same as yourself when it comes to Texas chainsaw. I didn't like the original either and I love the remake. I am definitely going to pick up the second sight release as well and I'm hoping someday the movie will grow on me. It better because I own the movie that many times it's crazy 😆 🤣. Great to hear that you have your car coming as well. Congratulations on that.
@@millerman9991 Thanks mate! Once it’s here I’m celebrating by buying my first VINEGAR SYNDROME 🤩 I’ve downloaded the app! 🤯‼️ 😅‼️ wallets beware!! I’m sure I’ve checked it out already 🤣🤣
Yep i was 16 when this came out and everyone in high school who wanted to b "hard" modeled themselves after Denzel from training day.
I would say that sounds silly but have u seen what kids are modeling themselves after nowadays?
I was actually thinking the exact same thing myself when you think about kids and who they are modelling themselves against today. Denzel character doesn't seem all that bad considering😆 😂
Yeaahh just got this one in the mail also this week. This release sort of shows what makes the WB releases not the greatest. The boxset is thicker than it needs to be. The envelopes are always filled with not too much content. There may not be a booklet, but in the Batman sets it's only filled with promotion photos. On the other side.. The Poltergeist release does have a write up in it. As long as they give the booklets the Arrow Video treatment I'm always satisfied. But the extras in this particular set are very disappointing.
I like the design of the steelbook and the outer box, but it feels lazy indeed to do the same twice. I don't understand WB's policy right now. The seperate steelbook releases have a much nicer steelbook, they would look great in this set with the two artwork designs. And bring this steelbook as a seperate release without the box. And they also cut the corners with the blue blu-ray cases in the amaray 4K editions of this movie in the US. It feels very sloppy. All sorts of things went wrong in the production of this Training Day release.
Considering the greenish color scheme. It came to my understanding that this was the way Fuqua intended the movie should look like. So I don't mind the green tones.
Thanks once again. I'm all oiled up with vasaline right now Keith,👍🫡
Hey Robert. I'm almost certain I checked today and the original Tim Burton Batman movies do come with booklets. I really need to check that again. I'm starting to wonder did I imagine it. But this is a lazy effort from Warner Brothers and somebody in the comment section made a good point that maybe because of the 100 anniversary this year they have a lot on their plate. I know the next two Batman movies are going to be out in the next week or two and I'm going to see what they're going to be like compared to the previous two. I really should check pictures before buying these Editions shouldn't i.
As for the 4K transfer I think it looks fantastic. Like I said in the video it reminds me of the Matrix and the Ring and both of them transfers look remarkable. I've never seen the movie look this way either which is a welcome bonus. It's almost like I'm looking at the movie for the first time again. I know the green palate will bother certain people but like I said I'm more than happy with it.
Thanks again Robert for stopping by and checking out this edition. No need to crack out the Vaseline for this one 😆 😂. All the best my friend
I think I prefer this steelbook but there are elements on the other that could have been combined into this one, like the map background and bullet holes. It is just disappointing that the same core artwork is used for both the box and the steelbook. I agree with your assessment, feels a tad rushed.
Hey Mike. Yeah it felt really like a rushed release and no surprise I was able to pick this up for so cheap. It's a shame because Warner Brothers had such a wonderful Year last year bringing out so many incredible releases and then to start the Year off like this. I hope it's something that doesn't continue. Thank you so much for stopping by. I really appreciate it my friend
I was very disappointed with this release to. Never understand why they have the same design on the outer case as well as the steelbook.
I'm almost certain that this is the first time that Warner Brothers have done that and I'm really hoping this is not going to be the start of it. Definitely there worst edition. Thanks for stopping by Gareth
