Dude is amazing and has the record to show with the bands he’s played in. His stints in Death and Obituary are pure gold. He’s always on point and super great underrated guitarist
CVW2112 right! I started going to death metal shows like in late 90’s and early 2000’s and it was amazing. Now doesn’t seem as good. But obituary still kills it live.
Awsome cover...Celtic Frost influenced almost everybody in the thrash-death-dark metal genre...Kudos to Obituary...for taking the time to do that..!!!!
I would give my life for be there in the gold age o Metal. This so exciting, free stage diving and best line up from Obituary. R.I.P Frank, anda hail Celtic Frost and Obituary, you are the Kings!!!!
Holy shit :D I was at this gig, and tomorrow i'm gonna see them live again, this time in Baroeg, where i work my hometown Rotterdam. Let's see what's left of the fun in this (almost) 24 years :)
Obituary is my favorite death metal band of all time they have they hard core wicked sound that makes obituary who they are and what makes there sound has good has it is.
bad ass! and still going strong today! still kicking ass and taking names! they were young here.Murphy in the live set here wow and i wonder where Alan was. sad deal how he turned out. and RIP Frank
I love the almost spooky vibe these old death metal concert footage videos have. The fog and people jumping up and ripping around on stage added a whole nother level of brutality that just aint there now
OOOOOOOH,dit is te geeek!!!Eerste keer dat ik zo'n oud filmpje van ze zie.Iedereen heeft vette lol! It is now March 8 2009,I saw them three days ago in Haarlem! It was great. But this video does it for me! With that voice he could have jumped in for Chuck at any time.If only they would play one Death cover nowadays...
i totally agree with this statement! James Murphy made OBITUARY more well-known worldwide! "Cause Of Death" rules the fuckin death metal world.. and John Tardy's growls are just the best insane vocals ever heard at that time.
the coolest part of this video is at 1.17 when i walk past john tardy before i dive of the stage..... coole video man ik zit te kijken en denk hee tilburg 1990 daar ben ik toch ook geweest ...en ik zie gewoon die afro voorbij komen .....goeie ouwe tijd
@tardybros no shit where did the time go? now my neck and back hurts for days after a brutal show :D the 1986-1993 years of Thrash, Death and Grindcore shows are my fondest memories of music
This video contains in it the truth of what metal is about. It's got it all. AWSOME. Aquí queda reflejado de qué va esto del metal. Lo tiene todo. COJONUDO.
One of my favorite CF, and therefore favorite songs period. But do me a favor- watch the kids who take a little extra time wandering around on stage before diving, and tell me they aren't dead-ringers for zombie movie extras.
@SneekyWeasel actually if you think about it, only some bands allow this, it could interfere with the band playing the song, if you see other gigs, they do have bodyguards and all even in the 80s
This right here is TRUE Dethmetal! No securitys in sight, everyone rocking out, stage diving and having a goood fukin time. James Murphy made Cause of Death THAT much better. Much hails!
@666truckerman:It's shitty video quality because it's from 1990,what did you expect? With Obituary covering this Celtic Frost song they did a lot for Celtic Frost meaning they Frost got a lot more fans from Obituary covering this which was stated in an interview with Obituary guitarist Trevor Peres saying that lead singer/guitarist of Celtic Frost told Trevor Peres a big thank you & appreciated & respected Obituary very much for covering the song & how it brought so many more fans onto Celtic F
@EveMeghara your right there, never seen them live though i wish i could. they never come down this way. Any time a band like that comes into town, i always try to show up. I live in the myrtle beach area and only a select few of good metal bands come here to house of blues. One show i missed that i wish i didnt was Dying Fetus. Im still waiting for H.O.B to show the up coming metal shows for this year but nothing has come up. I think the owner is getting rid of metal shows and its pissing meoff
There are certain parts of the track where the guitars and drums are completely in harmony. I had my friend listen to this and he's no metal head but after he took the headphones off he said "I feel almost drugged".
The fact that it doesnt sound out of place at all on Cause of Death shows how much of an influence the Frost was on them.
I definitely concur to your comment 💯% a solid cover indeed🤘
I totally agree, best celtic frost cover ever....
Damn, James Murphy is out of this world, wish that man a long and prosperous life.
Dude is amazing and has the record to show with the bands he’s played in. His stints in Death and Obituary are pure gold. He’s always on point and super great underrated guitarist
Allen Methest is Obituary´s guitarrist per excellence !
@@delhidelirium9091 who?
@@ieb994 The original lead guitarist who slayed it on " Slowly we rot " !
@@delhidelirium9091 Allen West?
Man this guy can f-ing sing
nobody like him then now or ever
His voice is good from when he started to now. It’s insane and I love it!!
and talk too lol
Been listening since 88 seeing them play was fucking amazing
@El señor de la tienda yeah Chuck sounds almost the exact same on Leprosy and Spiritual Healing lol
This is when concerts WERE CONCERTS, and we had MAJOR FUN!!!!
CVW2112 right! I started going to death metal shows like in late 90’s and early 2000’s and it was amazing. Now doesn’t seem as good. But obituary still kills it live.
Youth days :D (both bands and ours :D)
Awsome cover...Celtic Frost influenced almost everybody in the thrash-death-dark metal genre...Kudos to Obituary...for taking the time to do that..!!!!
You know your metal ;)
Hahaha maybe u meant black metal not "dark" lol 🤣
yup Tom Warriors psycho swiss ass is a metal god!
Celtic Frost was one of the best metal bands ever. Much more influential than they get credit for. :)
whenever Obituary do a Celtic Frost cover, you just know how sick it's gonna sound.
I would give my life for be there in the gold age o Metal. This so exciting, free stage diving and best line up from Obituary.
R.I.P Frank, anda hail Celtic Frost and Obituary, you are the Kings!!!!
Obituary in their absolute prime - and the golden age of death metal in general. So many smashing releases.
Great cover of one of the best extreme metal bands who pioneered the movement, i remember watching these guys play back in 1990....

He forgot to say CIRCLE OF THE TY HUH!!!!!
Circle of the UGH! Ha ha i Went to see triptykon a couple of months ago and Tom warrior did UGH every time ! I was expecting him to do it ! :D
Is that James Murphy doing the solo ? Fucking nailed it !
Yes, it is James Murphy.
Ah the good ol days of being a youth. Can't do that stuff anymore. I'm a 53 year old fart now 😕
Holy shit :D I was at this gig, and tomorrow i'm gonna see them live again, this time in Baroeg, where i work my hometown Rotterdam. Let's see what's left of the fun in this (almost) 24 years :)
these guys know how to put on a show, really give the fans what they want, obituary kicks ass
Saw an Obituary gig in 2018 and it was just as insane with energy as this one. Everyone going apeshit. Incredible death metal, best of the best.
How good is this! Saw these guys live on the World Demise tour back in 94. Memories.
Classic song, classic band. Priceless.
what a great gig this seemed to be. amazing sound quality too. the solo was killer.
Total eargasm.

aaaahhhhh james murphy, seen them on this tour in dublin, i was scared in the pit...
Fuck yeah this song introduced me to Celtic Frost when I was a young buk, fkn great covef
Great cover of one of my favorite bands, I remember watching these guys play back in the early 90's....
The crazy thing is that this video was uploaded closer to the present than 1990. I first watched this in like 2008 or so and now here we are
James Murphy rules!!! Awesome guitarist!!
AMAZING MIRACLE
I'm not that much of an Obituary-fan. But John Tardy is outstanding. Love the vocals.
Cause of Death line up with James Murphy was the best Obituary line up by far.
Obituary is my favorite death metal band of all time they have they hard core wicked sound that makes obituary who they are and what makes there sound has good has it is.
SUCH AWESOME FOOTAGE FROM BACK IN THE DAY// NOW THIS IS DEATH METAL// RESPECT \,,,/
I was there, still got the T-shirt, fuckin ace night 🤘
You can hear a lot of Celtic Frost influences in Obituary anyway, so it makes total sense
if you chuck nails, shards of glass and napalm into a blender you get Tardy! His vocal talent really is amazing
One of the greatest metal bands in history I've seen them 15 times Florida residents
the age of our youth was the best as iconic bands playing in all musical splendorous teenager..
Heck, this is great!!! Best cover ever of this masterpiece
bad ass! and still going strong today! still kicking ass and taking names! they were young here.Murphy in the live set here wow and i wonder where Alan was. sad deal how he turned out. and RIP Frank
Awsome cover. One of the best. I like Celtic Frost and Obituary.
I love the almost spooky vibe these old death metal concert footage videos have. The fog and people jumping up and ripping around on stage added a whole nother level of brutality that just aint there now
This cover is much better than the original song
OOOOOOOH,dit is te geeek!!!Eerste keer dat ik zo'n oud filmpje van ze zie.Iedereen heeft vette lol!

Obituary make me proud to live right outside of Tampa.
One of my favorite CF, and therefore favorite songs period. But do me a favor- watch the kids who take a little extra time wandering around on stage before diving, and tell me they aren't dead-ringers for zombie movie extras.

Singer sounds like Cronos from Venom on that "Live at City Gardens" edit tape...
JOHN TARDY. ....Master !!!!
I know this has been pointed out many times, but I have to again... I think the dude at 0:31-0:33 is HILARIOUS.
@666truckerman:It's shitty video quality because it's from 1990,what did you expect?
